Sabah Customs seizes over 70kg drugs worth RM2.4mil
KOTA KINABALU: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department has foiled a drug smuggling attempt with the seizure of more than 70kg of various drugs valued at over RM2.4mil between Jan 3 and March 28, 2025.
Acting Sabah Customs assistant director-general Saidin Jalaluddin said the latest seizure was made on March 28 involving four unmarked packages at Mas Kargo, Kota Kinabalu.
Checks found that the packages were believed to contain methamphetamine, weighing 71.719kg, estimated to be worth RM2,295,008," he told a press conference here on Monday (April 21).
He said the team also seized a package at Pos Aviation Kota Kinabalu on March 1.
"The package contained items suspected to be ketamine, weighing 434gm, estimated to be worth RM86,800," he added.
Saidin said that in an operation conducted from January 31 to February 28, four packages were seized at Mas Kargo, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
"The packages were believed to contain 15.35kg of ganja, worth RM47,606.70," he said, adding that the cases were investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - Bernama

Driver arrested for drug use after Kluang accident
KLUANG: Police have arrested a personal driver who tested positive for drugs following an accident here. Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the 40-year-old man was arrested at 6.30am on Friday (June 6) after testing positive for methamphetamine. "The suspect was driving towards Kluang town from Taman Sri Kluang and suddenly veered into the opposite lane. He then collided head-on with another car that was travelling in the lane," he said in a statement. Police nab two suspected drug pushers in Mukah
Police conduct a search on a suspect during the operation. MUKAH (June 8): Two foreigners, believed to be drug pushers operating in the Mukah town area, were arrested in front of a shop building in Jalan Boulevard Setiaraja, here at around 8pm last night. Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, in a statement, said the suspects were apprehended during an operation conducted by the Mukah District Police Headquarters' (IPD Mukah) Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, following intelligence and surveillance efforts. 'During the operation, two male suspects were detained and searched. Police found three transparent plastic packets containing crystal-like substances were found on the first suspect, while one packet was discovered on the second suspect. 'The substances are believed to be methamphetamine (syabu),' he said, adding that the confiscated drugs weighed 10.30g with an estimated street value of RM1,150. Muhamad Rizal noted that the suspects, aged 38 and 54, were reportedly working as labourers at a palm oil plantation. 'They were taken to IPD Mukah for further investigation, with urine tests confirming negative results for drug use.' He said the suspects have been remanded for four days until June 12, and the case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Driver high on meth crashes into oncoming car
KLUANG: A 40-year-old chauffeur with a record of drug offences was arrested after crashing into an oncoming vehicle while under the influence of methamphetamine in Jalan Jaya here on Friday evening. The man is believed to have veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Proton Saga driven by a 36-year-old trader. Kluang police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the crash happened at 5pm as the suspect, driving a Honda City, was heading to Bandar Kluang from Taman Sri Kluang. "Upon reaching the scene, he swerved into the opposing lane and crashed into the Saga. Both cars suffered major front-end damage," he said in a statement today. The trader, from Taman Sri Kluang, sustained cuts to his hand and body aches, while the suspect escaped unhurt. The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine in a urine test. Background checks showed he had three previous drug-related cases and a criminal record. The case is being investigated under Section 44(1)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of drugs, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug use.
