The teaser comes more than a week after Lorde first announced that 'Man of the Year' would serve as the second single from June-slated album Virgin, following lead track 'What Was That,' which dropped in April. In her recent Rolling Stone cover story, the Grammy winner shared that she wrote 'Man of the Year' about her own broadening gender identity, which she says fell into place after she stopped taking oral contraceptives.
'I felt like stopping taking my birth control, I had cut some sort of cord between myself and this regulated femininity,' she told the publication. 'It sounds crazy, but I felt that all of a sudden, I was off the map of femininity. And I totally believed that that allowed things to open up.'
Just before writing 'Man of the Year' — which Lorde has also said is her 'favorite' track on Virgin — the star taped her chest down with duct tape in an effort to realize a vision of herself 'that was fully representative of how [her] gender felt in that moment,' she told Rolling Stone. She appears that way on the cover art for 'Man of the Year,' wearing nothing but the silver tape and a pair of jeans.
Elsewhere in the interview, Lorde confirmed that she still uses 'she' and 'her' pronouns, but some days feels more like a man than a woman. '[Chappell Roan] asked me this … She was like, 'So, are you nonbinary now?'' she recalled to the publciation. 'I was like, 'I'm a woman except for the days when I'm a man.' I know that's not a very satisfying answer, but there's a part of me that is really resistant to boxing it up.'

Tory Lanez's lawyers push to overturn conviction in Megan Thee Stallion shooting case
As Tory Lanez serves a 10-year prison sentence for the shooting that injured Megan Thee Stallion, the rapper's lawyers are working to appeal his 2022 conviction. Speaking to a panel of judges in California's Second District Court of Appeal on Aug. 18, Lanez's attorney, Laura Cepero, argued that the DNA evidence the prosecution presented during his trial was misleading, according to Billboard and XXL Magazine. "It is actually marginally more likely that another member of the African American population touched this gun over Mr. Peterson," Cepero said, according to the outlets. "If our jury had heard that Mr. Peterson maybe one in a million touched the gun, I believe that would have been enough to tip that scale and show reasonable doubt." Another attorney on Lanez's defense team, Jose A. Baez, told USA TODAY in a statement, "I would say it is a statistical fact that any random African American male was more likely a contributor to the DNA on the gun than Daystar Peterson. "In fact, the DNA community has a random profile that is used as a control sample, and that profile was determined to match the mixture found on the gun rather than Daystar Peterson," he continued. "To be clear, it would be reckless and a complete fabrication to say that Tory's DNA was on that gun and to not exclude him as a contributor." 'Recovering remarkably': Tory Lanez's father gives health update after prison stabbing During arguments on behalf of the prosecution, according to courtroom footage shared by XXL Magazine and journalist Meghann Cuniff, California Deputy Attorney General Michael C. Keller said, "There's three times in which (Lanez) tacitly admitted to being the shooter." Among the evidence, Keller said, was a text to Megan in which he apologized to her for something that "never should have happened," blamed alcohol for the unspecified action and said she "probably" would never talk to him again. During the trial, Lanez denied that the messages were related to the shooting. "He was clearly accepting responsibility for something very big," Keller told the judges, per the videos. USA TODAY has reached out to the California Attorney General's office for comment. During Lanez's closely watched trial, it was determined that the DNA found on the handgun that discharged the bullet was inconclusive. Tory Lanez dealt legal blow after prison stabbing The oral arguments took place in Los Angeles nearly a week after appeals court judges largely denied two of his petitions related to the case, according to court records reviewed by USA TODAY. In the filings, known as habeas corpus petitions, Lanez's legal team reportedly challenged his conviction by alleging they have obtained new testimony, according to Rolling Stone and Billboard. They also once again cast doubt on some of the evidence presented during his 2022 trial, the outlets reported. The appeals court rulings were filed Aug. 12. Previously, in a May 19 TikTok post, Megan hit back after Lanez's team indicated they had new information that corroborated his claim that he did not fire the weapon. "At what point are y'all gonna stop making me have to re-live being shot BY TORY !?" she wrote. "At what point are Tory and y'all FANS gonna stop lying? ... FACTS ARE FACTS, he did it, it was PROVEN IN COURT." In May, Lanez was hospitalized after he was stabbed multiple times by a fellow inmate. Afterward, his father announced that he was "recovering remarkably." Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted in 2022 of shooting Megan in the ankle after an alleged argument in the Los Angeles area. The Canadian singer-songwriter, who pleaded not guilty on all counts ahead of his trial, was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm; having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Meta's AI voice translation feature rolls out globally
On Tuesday, Meta rolled out its new voice dubbing feature globally. The Reels feature uses generative AI to translate your voice, with optional lip-syncing. Mark Zuckerberg first previewed the feature at Meta Connect 2024. At launch, the translations are only available for English to Spanish (and vice versa). The company says more languages will arrive later. At least at first, it's restricted to Facebook creators with 1,000+ followers. However, anyone with a public Instagram account can use it. The tool trains on your original voice and generates a translated audio track to match your tone. The lip-syncing add-on then matches your mouth's movements to the translated speech. The demo clip the company showed last year was spot-on — eerily so. You can choose whether to add lip syncing and preview before posting. (Meta) To use the feature, choose the "Translate your voice with Meta AI" option before publishing a reel. That's also where you can choose to add lip syncing. There's an option to review the AI-translated version before publishing. Viewers will see a pop-up noting that it's an AI translation. Meta says the feature works best for face-to-camera videos. The company recommends avoiding covering your mouth or including excessive background music. It works for up to two speakers, but it's best to avoid overlapping your speech. The company frames the feature as a way for creators to expand their audiences beyond their native tongues. As such, it included a by-language performance tracker, so you can see how well it's doing in each language. YouTube launched a similar feature last year. Apple has gotten in on the action, too: Messages, Phone and FaceTime apps have live translation tools in iOS 26.
