Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 release date leaks but no Switch 2 version at launch
Following its reveal trailer earlier this year, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set for a full blowout at Gamescom Opening Night Live next Tuesday.
However, as is customary for Call Of Duty, a bunch of details around the game's launch have leaked ahead of time.
According to reliable leaker billbil-kun, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 will launch worldwide on November 14, 2025 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This date was originally mentioned by Call Of Duty insider GhostOfHope, so is almost certainly accurate.
You might have noticed one platform is missing from that line-up: the Nintendo Switch 2. Microsoft has repeatedly promised Call Of Duty is coming to Nintendo's console, after it signed a 10-year deal to do so as part of its Activision Blizzard acquisition, but the company still hasn't made any official announcement of when to expect it – or indeed any other Switch 2 games.
According to billbil-kun (via Dealabs), Black Ops 7 will not be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. However, they note it is 'unclear' whether Activision is planning to bring a port to the console at a later date.
Considering Black Ops 7 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, a Switch 2 version should be relatively easy – but there's a chance Activision, like many other publishers, weren't given a Switch 2 devkit ahead of the system's launch.

The same report has other details on Black Ops 7's launch. Unlike other Microsoft-published games like The Outer Worlds 2, the upcoming shooter will have a physical release with the disc included across all platforms, at the usual price of £69.99.
According to the leaker, pre-orders for Black Ops 7 will go live on Wednesday, August 20, after the game's reveal at Gamescom the night prior.
This isn't the only leak around Black Ops 7 over the past week, as details have emerged around the game's campaign mode. However, they relate to the campaign's last mission, so if you don't want to be potentially spoiled, turn away now.
*** Warning: spoilers for the ending of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 ***
According to Insider Gaming, the final campaign mission in Black Ops 7 will integrate with the multiplayer mode for the first time ever. It's claimed the long-rumoured 'Avalon' map, which was originally planned for Warzone, will now be used as part of the campaign.
It's said that select parts of this Avalon map will be used throughout the campaign, but the final mission will give players access to the full map in a '32-player multiplayer experience'. More Trending
According to the site, who cite information from anonymous sources, the final mission 'sounds awfully like an extraction-based shooter'. It mentions that players will need to 'complete objectives and extract', and if you're entire squad is killed, 'you will lose all your character's progress'.
This move is apparently driven by the desire to integrate progression across all modes (campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies), so even when you're playing the campaign, you'll be able to level up weapons, characters, and progress in the Battle Pass.
If true, this is probably to encourage more multiplayer-centric players to engage with the campaign, which will support four-player co-op in Black Ops 7.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was previously criticised for incorporating Warzone's Verdansk map into the campaign, but it sounds like this will be a somewhat different approach (and with a new map), although we'll have to see when the game launches.

After a bit of toing and froing, and for reasons yet to be confirmed, the release of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox is nearly upon us. It's been a long journey since the game launched on PS5 and PC, where it received high praise from soulslike fans for its captivating narrative and precise controls. However, the transition to Microsoft consoles has not been smooth. As we initially reported when discussing the Black Myth: Wukong Xbox release date, Game Science claimed that the Xbox Series S simply wasn't powerful enough to handle the demanding game, while other sources suggested a quiet console exclusivity deal was in place to keep it on PlayStation 's side. Regardless of how it managed to get the green light, Black Myth: Wukong is finally coming to Xbox, exactly one year after its initial launch. Despite the delay, it's a top-notch game that genre fans thoroughly enjoyed at launch, meaning a host of new players will soon have the opportunity to dive into a game they could adore. Game Science may need to regain relevance, but there's every chance the team can pull it off, especially now that many players have finished Wuchang: Fallen Feathers on Xbox Game Pass. Black Myth Wukong release time The release time for Black Myth: Wukong is set for 7pm PDT / 10pm EDT on Tuesday, August 19, and 3am BST on Wednesday, August 20. The release date itself has been confirmed by Game Science. If the game's team is fortunate, this will be like a new dawn for Black Myth: Wukong, providing plenty of entertainment for soulslike fans until the next one arrives. It almost feels as though we're getting a new one every other week, but we're still expecting Wukong to distinguish itself from the rest.

First big Gamescom 2025 reveal is a Shenmue 3 re-release
Although there's still no sign of a sequel, Shenmue 3 is getting a second chance on current platforms. The announcement of Shenmue 3 at PlayStation's E3 2015 showcase was without doubt one of the biggest gaming reveals in history, as it had been roughly 16 years since Shenmue 2's cliffhanger ending and it seemed almost impossible that there would ever be another sequel. Thanks to the hype generated by the reveal, it had a very successful crowdfunding campaign and launched for PlayStation 4 and PC in 2019… only for it to turn out to be a wasted opportunity that didn't attract any new fans and only reported mediocre sales. While there remains no sign of the promised Shenmue 4, today's announcement shows the series hasn't been abandoned entirely, with Shenmue 3 to receive an enhanced re-release for modern platforms, including Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Simply titled Shenmue 3 Enhanced, German company ININ Games has taken over as publisher (the original release was published by Deep Silver), which makes sense as it worked with Shenmue series director Yu Suzuki before, on bringing his Apple Arcade rail shooter Air Twister to consoles in 2023. There's no release date, but the plan is for this upgraded re-release (they seem to be purposefully avoiding the word 'remaster') to be available on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. ININ Games doesn't specify if it will be Switch 1, Switch 2, or both, but either way this will mark the Shenmue series' debut on Nintendo's platform. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Aside from improved graphics and performance, Shenmue 3 Enhanced is promising gameplay changes and new options, such as 'optional stamina system adjustments, health restoration before fights, and reduced money barriers for smoother progression.' There will also be new accessibility options, like expanded windows for quick time events, the ability to skip cut scenes, and 'streamlined navigation', as well as a classic camera mode that's akin to the original Shenmue games. What's more, all the major changes will be an optional toggle, so Shenmue 3 purists can turn them off if they want to. No footage or screenshots of Shenmue 3 Enhanced have been shared, but ININ has said the game will be 'officially unveiling at Gamescom 2025,' meaning there should be a trailer at the Opening Night Live showcase on Tuesday night. More Trending If you already own Shenmue 3 on PlayStation 4 or PC, ININ will offer an upgrade path of some kind, but it hasn't said if it will be free or if you'll need to fork over a small fee. The listed improvements do make it sound like this will be a more optimal way to enjoy Shenmue 3, but it's too soon to tell if this re-release will improve the game's reputation with fans. There's no explicit mention of dealing with the annoying eating requirements needed to progress (maybe that's part of the 'streamlined navigation') and there's unfortunately no way to salvage the banal dialogue or the plot, which does very little to progress the series' overarching storyline. Perhaps this is to help gauge if there's still interest in Shenmue. Suzuki has repeatedly said he wants to make Shenmue 4 someday, but there's been no sign that he has the funding to do so. Nintendo Direct announced for tomorrow but it's not what you're hoping for
A surprise Nintendo Direct is happening this week, but it's dedicated to a Switch 2 exclusive nobody was asking for. Video game leaks are so prevalent, it usually means most Nintendo Direct presentations are rumoured well ahead of time, especially since the advent of the Switch 2, but Nintendo has managed to keep its latest announcement under wraps right until the last moment. As announced first on the Nintendo Today app (and later on X), a Nintendo Direct will take place on Tuesday, August 19 at 2pm UK time. Unlike the recent Partner Showcase and Indie World presentations, it will feature games from Nintendo's first party slate. Or rather one game. If you're hoping for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond or Splatoon Raiders, you'll be out of luck though. This 'in-depth look' is dedicated entirely to Kirby Air Riders, for a whopping 45 minutes. For a comparison, the Directs dedicated to Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza – the biggest Switch 2 exclusives so far – were both around 17 minutes long. So this is a serious amount of time to dedicate to the sequel to what was a very simple game. The reason for this lengthy runtime might be the creator at the helm. Kirby Air Riders is directed by the actual creator of Kirby, Masahiro Sakurai, who is best known today as the man behind the Super Smash Bros. series. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. This is the first Kirby game Sakurai has worked on since its predecessor Kirby Air Ride, a single-button racing game which came out on the Nintendo GameCube in 2003. The original isn't exactly held in high regard, even among Kirby sickos, so it's puzzling why Nintendo is putting so much energy into a belated sequel, whose basic gameplay is likely to be quite similar to Mario Kart. More Trending Many fans have posited the idea that Nintendo may have greenlit Kirby Air Riders as a favour to Sakurai, in exchange for him working on a new Smash Bros. game. Although it's unlikely that'll ever be admitted to publicly, even if it is true. Following the Direct announcement, Sakurai has promised there'll be 'a lot more information' on Kirby Air Riders from both his X account and the newly launched social media accounts for the title. He also posted a picture of his cat, because why not. Considering we're getting a dedicated Direct for Kirby Air Riders before Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, it's possible the former could be released sooner than expected. With the Switch 2 version of Kirby And The Forgotten Land set to arrive later this month on August 28 too, we might be in for a Kirby onslaught over the next couple of months. This Nintendo Direct will be broadcast just hours before Gamescom Opening Night Live, which is set to kick off tomorrow at 7pm BST. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
