A political firestorm erupted after Telangana CM Revanth Reddy questioned the Rafale jets' performance during 'Operation Sindoor', prompting sharp rebuttals from the BJP.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday tore into Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his statement regarding the destruction of Rafale jets during 'Operation Sindoor'.
The BJP's Telangana unit, in its X post, wrote, 'CM Revanth Reddy didn't just echo Pakistan's narrative on Rafale and #OperationSindoor — he went a step further, calling it 'Mana Pakistan" meaning 'Our Pakistan"."
'From questioning Surgical Strikes and Balakot to mocking our armed forces and opposing Agnipath – standing against 🇮🇳 is in Congress's DNA," the BJP Telangana wrote.
'Stick to Miss World photo ops, Revanth. National security isn't your ramp," it said, taking a dig at the Chief Minister.

The Miss World competition, one of the biggest international beauty pageants, began in Hyderabad on May 10 and is supposed to continue until May 31.
The competition began amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan soon after India's retaliatory 'Operation Sindoor' against Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, amid calls from the opposition to postpone it.

Sambit Patra questioned Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy and Jairam Ramesh over not asking Pakistan regarding how many of their airbases were destroyed or terrorists were killed.
Patra further mentioned that in the present time, there are two factions in the Congress, one which supports Pakistan and another which wants to raise their voice but cannot do it because of Rahul Gandhi.
The BJP MP further stated that Congress's 'Jai Hind Yatra' looks like 'Pakistan Hind Yatra'.
'Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, and Revanth Reddy are asking how many Rafales were shot down. 'Yeh jo Pakistan ke Babbar hain, woh Hindustan ke Gabbar hain'. Rahul Gandhi did not ask how many Pakistani airbases were destroyed, how many terrorists were killed; rather, he only asked how many Indian planes were shot down," Patra said.
'Today, there are two factions in Congress – one which supports Pakistan and the other which wants to raise a voice for the country but is unable to do so because of you. Your 'Jai Hind Yatra' looks like 'Pakistan's Hind Yatra' and you should stop this yatra and hold a joint press conference with Pakistan", Sambit Patra said.
The BJP MP also attacked Jairam Ramesh for his remarks over the multi-party delegation and said that he 'equated terrorists with MPs".
The BJP leader asserted that the MPs did not go on a tour, they went to strongly represent India's side in front of the whole world.
'Jairam Ramesh, who is the right-hand of the Gandhi family, gives a statement, and he says in his statement that terrorists are roaming around, MPs are also roaming around. You have equated terrorists with MPs. MPs did not go on a tour, they went to strongly present India's side in the world, and your MPs are also included in it", Sambit Patra added.
He also accused he previous UPA government of calling terrorists to the PMO and mentioned that the Indian Armed Forces destroyed nine Pakistan terror hideouts, for which the satellite images were also shown regarding the operation.
'There was a time when terrorists were called to the PMO. We should also remember the day when Sonia ji cried after seeing the bodies of terrorists. The Indian Army destroyed nine terrorist hideouts. Satellite pictures were shown. DGMO presented all the facts", Sambit Patra said.
Earlier on Thursday, Revanth Reddy said that Rahul Gandhi and party President Mallikarjun Kharge attended the all-party meeting and extended their full support to the Centre and made it clear that India should fight against Pakistan to merge the PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) with India.
As per an official statement, the Chief Minister said that he had already declared his full support for splitting Pakistan into two countries. He objected to calling off the 'war' by the Modi government at the behest of US President Donald Trump's orders.
'Pakistan has downed Rafale fighter jets, which were brought by PM Modi, when asked how many downed? There's no discussion. PM Modi, who purchased war fighter jets from another country, should answer how many Rafale jets have been downed by Pakistan. You have favoured thousands of crores worth of contracts to people who are close to you and purchased Rafale jets, but why did they get destroyed? You should answer this," said Reddy.
Reddy reiterated that the Congress and the Gandhi family have a history of sacrificing their lives for the country.

NEW DELHI: Amid relentless attacks by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over alleged voter data fudging, the Election Commission on Thursday said instead of creating false narrative by using "dirty phrases" like 'vote chori', proof should be given. In a statement, the EC said the law for "one person one vote" is already been in existence since the first elections in 1951-1952. "If anyone has any proof of any person actually voting twice in any election, it should be shared with ECI with a written affidavit rather than colouring all the electors of India as 'chor' without any proof," it said. The poll authority said that by trying to create a false narrative by using "dirty phrases" like "vote chori" for Indian electors, is not only a direct attack on the crores of Indian electors but also an assault on the integrity of lakhs of election staff. Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, last week cited data to allege that more than one lakh votes were 'stolen' in the Mahadevpura assembly constituency of Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha in the 2024 elections, resulting in the defeat of a Congress candidate. The Election Commission had directed Gandhi to give a written declaration on his claims.

16 BSF personnel awarded gallantry medals for Operation Sindoor
Sixteen Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been awarded gallantry medals for their exceptional bravery during Operation Sindoor, in which they shot down enemy drones, rescued injured comrades, supplied ammunition under fire, destroyed Pakistani posts and surveillance equipment along the border. Among the awardees are five personnel deployed at the sensitive Kharkhola border outpost in Jammu. According to the citation, six personnel—Assistant Commandant Abhishek Srivastav, Head Constable Brij Mohan Singh, and Constables Bhupendra Bajpai, Rajan Kumar, Basavaraja Shivappa Sunkada, and Depeswar Barman—displayed exemplary courage under direct enemy assault. After the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor, Pakistani forces positioned barely 200 meters from the Kharkhola post initiated heavy shelling using flat and high-trajectory weapons, followed by a drone attack. 'In the early hours of May 10, 2025, multiple Pakistani drones were spotted in the area. Upon hearing the humming sound, the troops took defensive positions. Under the command of Sub-Inspector Mohd Imtiyaz, they successfully neutralised one drone. However, a mortar shell—likely dropped by another drone—exploded just outside their bunker, causing serious injuries to Head Constable Brij Mohan Singh and four constables,' the citation stated. Assistant Commandant Srivastav, a young probationary officer, rushed to their aid and successfully evacuated them under intense enemy fire. The BSF has also named a post in Jammu under the name of Sub-Inspector Imitiyaz, who was killed in action that morning. Apart from Singh, another constable, Deepak Chimngakham, was also killed in action at the border during the Indo-Pak hostilities. Another medal recipient, assistant sub-inspector Udai Vir Singh, was posted at the Jabowal border outpost in the Jammu sector when it came under heavy assault from Pakistani forces. 'Amid intense enemy fire, ASI Singh destroyed a Pakistani surveillance camera, denying them real-time monitoring of Indian positions. Even after sustaining a life-threatening shrapnel wound to his upper lip from heavy machine gun fire, he refused evacuation and continued to engage the enemy, ultimately neutralising their HMG nest,' the citation read. 'His actions ensured uninterrupted domination by Indian forces and inspired fellow troops.' Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajappa B.T. and Constable Manohar Xalxo were also honoured for their bravery in resupplying ammunition to frontline troops at Karotana Khurd, Karotana Forward, and Suchetagarh border outposts. These posts had come under intense 82mm mortar and machine gun fire from Pakistan. 'On May 10 at 0740 hrs, BOP Karotana Khurd reported a critical shortage of AGS ammunition. ASI Rajappa and CT Xalxo were tasked with the replenishment mission. While executing it, a mortar shell exploded near their magazine. ASI Rajappa sustained fatal splinter injuries, and CT Xalxo was wounded in his right hand. Despite their injuries, both completed the mission successfully,' the citation stated. Assistant Commandant Alok Negi was recognised for leading his troops during a prolonged engagement at the forward defence line at Mukhyari between May 7 and 10. His leadership ensured operational dominance and sustained retaliatory strikes for over 48 hours, using mortars and other heavy weapons. Apart from securing the border, BSF troops during Operation Sindoor bombed terror launchpads such as Looni and Dhandhar in Pakistan, destroyed posts of Pakistan Rangers, and also neutralised terrorists infiltrating into India using cover fire by Pak Rangers. In an official statement, the BSF said, 'This Independence Day, 16 brave Seema Praharis are being awarded Gallantry Medals for their conspicuous bravery and unmatched valour. Their resolute and steadfast actions during Operation Sindoor are a testament to the nation's faith and trust reposed in India's First Line of Defence.' In response to India's Operation Sindoor, Pakistan launched drones and loitering munitions against Indian military installations and civilian infrastructure, but failed to inflict any damage as the threats were thwarted by India's robust multi-layered air defence network.

Political temperatures are soaring as the Bihar elections draw closer, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accusing the ruling side of vote 'chori' (theft) and demanding answers from the Election Commission. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in turn, has defended the poll body, framing Gandhi's very allegations as proof of the need to clean up the voter list under the state's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi claimed on Wednesday he had tea with 'dead voters' from the Bihar voter list. (AICC) The SIR exercise in Bihar has emerged as a major flashpoint between the Congress and the BJP in the run-up to the polls in the state, which has 243 assembly seats and is currently governed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led primarily by the Janata Dal (United) and the BJP. Bihar SIR row explained in 10 points – Bihar SIR exercise: In June, the Election Commission of India initiated a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections. In a letter dated June 24, the ECI said the last intensive revision in Bihar was done in 2003, adding voters not in this list had to submit one of 11 specific documents – excluding Aadhar, voter ID, or ration cards – by July 25. -Why EC launched the SIR exercise: The EC cited concerns about bogus, duplicate, and ineligible voters – including deceased individuals and 'illegal immigrants' – being present on the electoral rolls. The SIR was launched to remove these entries and ensure the list is accurate and updated, according to EC. There were unverified complaints about illegal immigrants from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar being registered as voters. – The 11 documents for SIR: The 11 documents that the ECI said were allowed to applying for inclusion in the electoral roll are: 1. Any Identity card/Pension Payment Order issued to regular employee/pensioner of any Central Govt./State Govt./PSU; 2. Any Identity Card/Certificate/Document issued in India by Government/local authorities/Banks/Post Office/LIC/PSUs prior to 01.07.1987; 3. Birth Certificate issued by the competent authority; 4. Passport; 5. Matriculation/Educational certificate issued by recognised Boards/universities; 6. Permanent Residence certificate issued by competent State authority; 7. Forest Right Certificate; 8. OBC/SC/ST or any caste certificate issued by the Competent authority; 9. National Register of Citizens (wherever it exists); 10. Family Register, prepared by State/Local authorities; 11. Any land/house allotment certificate by Government. –Why SIR was objected to by some: This move drew criticism from civil society, with petitioners—including Association for Democratic Reforms ('ADR'), People's Union for Civil Liberties, TMC MP Mahua Moitra, RJD MP Manoj Jha, and activist Yogendra Yadav – arguing that the directive excludes widely held documents like Aadhaar and ration cards, disproportionately affecting poor and rural voters. – Supreme Court intervenes: The Supreme Court intervened and on July 10 refused to stay the ongoing SIR process, but issued an interim directive urging the Election Commission (EC) to consider Aadhaar, EPIC (voter ID), and ration card as valid documentation. It also set deadlines for parties to file counter-affidavits and rejoinders. – Latest SC hearing: During the latest hearings in the case on August 12 and 13, the Supreme Court reiterated that it retains the power to nullify the entire SIR process if widespread irregularities are found. It also described the EC's list of 11 acceptable documents as 'actually voter‑friendly' and said the EC's exclusive authority over revision timing and method. – EC says no to include Aadhar: Days after the Supreme Court asked EC to consider inclusion of Aadhar and other commonly held documents, the poll body defended its told the top court that these cannot be accepted as proof of voter eligibility and asserted its constitutional authority to demand evidence of citizenship. – Rahul Gandhi's vote chori charge: The SIR row gained steam with Rahul Gandhi leading the opposition in accusing the Election Commission of a facilitating 'vote chori' (vote theft). In a press briefing on August 7, Rahul Gandhi, citing some Lok Sabha constituencies, claimed before the media that an analysis of the voter data showed that elections were rigged by the Election Commission at the behest of the BJP to help the saffron party 'steal' votes and win the seat in the 2024 general elections. Rahul led symbolic protests, including having 'tea with dead voters', mocking the EC for marking live people as dead on rolls. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with INDIA bloc leaders in Bihar will embark on a 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' across the state starting August 17, while the party planned a countrywide 'vote chor, gaddi chhorh' rally on August 14. – Why is Opposition against SIR despite fake voter charge: While Rahul Gandhi, the Congress and other opposition parties like Rashtriya Janata Dal have repeatedly flagged concerns about 'vote chori' (vote theft) and the presence of bogus or fake voters, they remain opposed SIR because they allege the process itself is being weaponised for political end and is not a genuine clean-up, but instead a targeted exercise aimed at disenfranchising real voters – particularly Dalits, OBCs, minorities, and migrant workers, who are less likely to have the specific documents demanded. While Rahul Gandhi had "tea with dead voters" of Bihar on Wednesday, the BJP has accused Congress of trying to save 'infiltrator' vote bank. – Latest update by EC: The Election Commission of India on Thursday said it has received a total of 23,557 claims and objections over the draft voter list after the SIR of the electoral roll in Bihar, out of which 741 complaints have been disposed. According to the press note by ECI on Thursday, after 14 days, no claim or objection has been submitted by any political party. The EC has previously asked Rahul Gandhi to acknowledge his allegations under oath or apologise publically.
