Meet most successful child actor of 70s, often played young Amitabh Bachchan, quit acting after.., daughter is a Hollywood actress, now has an empire worth Rs.., he is... In the glitzy and glamorous world of cinema, many stars come and go, but there are a few actors who make it big on the silver screen and leave a mark. However, some actors start as child artists but end up in a different direction altogether. One such similar tale is of an actor who made his debut as a child artist only to take a completely different path in life. He made his debut with the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan. Who is Alankar Joshi? The actor that we are talking about is none other than Alankar Joshi, fondly remembered as Master Alankar. This boy brought young Amitabh Bachchan's character to life in several iconic Hindi films. His journey from the glittering world of Bollywood to building a Rs 200 crore IT empire in the United States is nothing short of remarkable. Alankar ventured into the world of acting quite early on. He was one of the most famous and celebrated child actors in the 1970s, appearing in over a hundred films. His performances in classics like Deewaar (1975), Majboor (1974), and Seeta Aur Geeta (1972) made him a household name. In a recent interview, his sister Pallavi Joshi, speaking about his brother, said, 'For Deewar, my brother was called, and hum Yash ji se milne gaye the (we went to meet him). I had also tagged along; I have a blurry memory of it when we went to meet on the set. The shooting had already started, and Amit ji saw Dada and said, 'Arey, kaise ho?' Then, he told Yash Ji to give him my childhood version to play. Finally, Dada was cast in Deewar, and he played the younger Vijay,' she shared. He was most frequently cast as the younger version of Amitabh Bachchan. From his impeccable performance to his on-screen charm, Alankar won millions of hearts. But his breakthrough moment came with Deewaar when director Yash Chopra, on Amitabh Bachchan's suggestion, offered him the role of young Vijay. Known for his keen observation, he even picked up Bachchan's subtle mannerisms on set, impressing everyone with his attention to detail. Alankar's Business Empire But like many child stars, Alankar's transition to adult roles wasn't easy. Despite being a well-versed actor as a kid, he soon realised that the magic he enjoyed as a child star might not translate into a sustainable adult career. He briefly tried direction and production and found success as a Marathi filmmaker. Alankar was not keen on working behind the camera. Later, he focused on his education and earning qualifications that led him to a job in a software company. Eventually, he shifted to software programming, moving to the US, where he worked for two years. The turning point came when he started his own company with a friend in America. Over the next 35 years, he built a thriving IT business, with a net worth reportedly touching Rs 200 crore. Today, Alankar lives in the US with his wife and three children: twin daughters and a son. His journey is an example of reinvention and redirection, showing how new dreams can be built even in a different field altogether.
