SANDAKAN: A juvenile crocodile was captured under a house at the Sim-Sim Low-Cost Housing Scheme here on Sunday evening. Sandakan Civil Defence Force officer Sulaiman Salama said an emergency call was received at 6.47pm and a team of seven was dispatched. The personnel reached the site at 7.12pm and safely secured the 15-kilogram reptile within 25 minutes. 'Zara Qairina's family may seek inquest after police probe'

He said the family is likely to request an inquest once police investigations are complete. Advertisement No VIPs entered the examination room, with only doctors and police officers present, countering rumours from members of the public outside the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Forensic Department. The medical team expressed surprise at the preserved condition of Zara's body, and briefed the family immediately after the procedure. The examination lasted from 11.30am to 7.30pm without breaks, led by forensic pathology specialist Dr Khairul Anuar Zainun from Hospital Serdang. Shahlan and fellow lawyer Hamid Ismail took turns observing the process, while Zara's mother and siblings waited nearby. Advertisement Hamid thanked the forensic team for their dedication, noting they remained on their feet throughout and documented both old and recent injuries. He said the preliminary report may be ready within a week, with the full process potentially taking up to two months. The body was returned to Tanjung Ubi Muslim Cemetery in Sipitang for reburial the same evening, following its exhumation the day before under a court order for a second post-mortem. Ukrainian drones kill 1, damage industrial facility in Russia
Kyiv says its attacks inside Russia are aimed at destroying infrastructure that is key to Moscow's war efforts. (Moscow's interregional transport prosecutor's office's Telegram channel/AP pic) MOSCOW : One person was killed, and several apartments and an industrial facility were damaged in a Ukrainian drone attack on the south Russian region of Saratov, the governor said today. Roman Busargin posted on the Telegram messaging app that residents were evacuated after debris from a destroyed drone damaged three apartments in the overnight attack. 'Several residents required medical assistance,' Busargin said. 'Aid was provided onsite, and one person has been hospitalised. Unfortunately, one person has died.' Russian air defence units destroyed 121 Ukrainian drones overnight, including eight over the Saratov region, the defence ministry said. It reports only how many drones its defence units down, not how many Ukraine launches. Busargin did not specify what kind of industrial site was damaged. Social media footage showed thick black smoke rising over what looked like an industrial zone. Reuters verified the location seen in one of the videos as matching file and satellite imagery of the area. Reuters could not verify when the video was filmed. Ukrainian media, including the RBK-Ukraine media outlet, reported that the oil refinery in the city of Saratov, the administrative centre of the region, was on fire after a drone attack. Reuters could not verify those reports. There was no official comment from Russia. The Rosneft-owned refinery in the Saratov city was forced to suspend operations earlier this year for safety reasons after Ukrainian drone attacks, industry sources told Reuters. Russia's SHOT Telegram channel, which often publishes information from sources in the security services and law enforcement, reported about eight explosions were heard over Saratov and Engels, cities separated by the Volga River. Russia's civil aviation authority Rosaviatsia said on Telegram that flights in and out of Saratov had been halted for about two hours early today to ensure air safety. Both sides deny targeting civilians in their strikes on each other's territory in the war that Russia launched with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Kyiv says its attacks inside Russia are aimed at destroying infrastructure that is key to Moscow's war efforts, including energy and military infrastructure, and are in response to Russia's continued strikes.
