Karun Nair: I should have celebrated my 300 more

India Today6 hours ago

India batter Karun Nair, who has been recalled into the Test side after a long wait of eight years, said that he regrets not celebrating his triple century more. In an interview with Ravichandran Ashwin, Karun said that he should have lived that moment a little more and taken his time to enjoy it.Karun Nair has been called back to the Indian Test team after an incredible domestic season where he led his team to a Ranji Trophy win. The batter also featured for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, where he ripped apart Jasprit Bumrah, one of the best bowlers in the world at the moment.advertisementNair revealed that he was not a person who celebrated his milestones in an exuberant manner, and that he has learnt to live in the moment a little more. It has become a conscious choice to celebrate his milestones in the past 2–3 years.
"I should have celebrated that 300 more. I don't think that I enjoyed that moment as I should have. Like when I see how people enjoy their milestones, I have learnt that you should not keep your joy within you, you have to show it. I think at that time, I did not value that moment enough. I should have enjoyed that moment a little more," Karun Nair told R Ashwin in an interview. The batter also stated that cricket was not a gentleman's game anymore as more and more athletes were expressing their unique personalities at the crease. Asked about the new generation, Nair said that he felt distant from them, as growing up, he did not have the freedom to say things like youngsters do now.advertisement"I am not sure that the gentleman's game is a thing any more. There is a lot of freedom in whatever they do. The young kids are free to say things a lot of us would not say, and they play the way they want to play. I am not sure that gentleman's game will be a term used in the future," Nair said."They can look up to maybe Rahul Dravid (if they want to look up to a cricketer who personifies the gentleman's game)," he concluded.Nair is expected to be in the running for a spot in the Indian playing XI for the 1st Test match against England. He is expected to slot in at No.3 or No.4, depending on India's needs.Must Watch

Shedge to lead Mumbai's Emerging Team to U.K.

Promising all-rounder Suryansh Shedge will lead a 17-member Mumbai Emerging team on a four-week exposure tour to the United Kingdom, starting June 28. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) secretary Abhay Hadap announced the squad and the tour fixtures while spelling out the objectives of the tour at a press conference on Monday. Shedge, who has all but cemented his place in the Ranji Trophy, will have three more teammates — Musheer Khan, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Himanshu Singh — with Ranji caps for company for the five two-day and four one-day matches against various opponents. 'Most of the players have middle-class background, so it's a huge step by the MCA to organise the exposure trip,' Shedge said. 'I have always been a busy cricketer. I like to contribute with the bat, the ball and in the field. Captaincy has presented me with another aspect to remain involved in the game. I am looking forward to adapting in alien conditions and helping all my teammates to learn as much as we can in these nine games.' Besides competing and training at various venues, the team will also visit Lord's. Shedge, who will tour England for the first time, stressed all the players were excited to relish the experience, 'where we saw the World Test Championship final earlier in the week'. The squad: Suryansh Shedge (Capt.), Vedant Murkar (vice-capt.), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ayush Vartak, Ayush Zimare, Himanshu Singh, Manan Bhatt, Musheer Khan, Nikhil Giri, Pragnesh Kanpillewar, Pratik Yadav, Prem Devkar, Rishikesh Gore, Harsh Aghav, Harshal Jadhav. Prince Badiani, and Zaid Patankar. Coach: Ramesh Powar; assistant coach: Deepak Patil; manager: Armaan Mallick; physiotherapists: G. Suresh Kumar and Vinayak Parteki; analyst: Shankar Tanna.

"I love beating up guys...": Saiyami Kher on her action-packed role in 'Special Ops 2'

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 16 (ANI): Actor Saiyami Kher will be seen reprising her role of agent Juhi in the second season of Neeraj Pandey's 'Special Ops'. On donning an action-packed role, Saiyami at the show's trailer launch in Mumbai on Monday said, 'For women, there are certain roles which people don't write and you wonder why. But even before Special Ops, what Neeraj sir did with Taapsee Pannu in Baby stood out for me. I hadn't seen anything like that in Indian cinema before. I love doing action. I love beating up guys. That's what women feel like on the inside when guys tease them on the streets. I'm just happy he gave me that opportunity.' Directed by Shivam Nair, 'Special Ops 2' also stars Kay Kay Menon, Prakash Raj, Vinay Pathak, Karan Tacker, Saiyami Kher, Muzammil Ibrahim, Gautami Kapoor, Parmeet Sethi, and Kali Prasad Mukherjee. On what fans can expect from 'Special Ops 2', Neeraj Pandey, in a press note, said, 'This season reflects the times we live in, where the enemy doesn't announce their arrival. The new-age warfare has altered everything we know about threat, security, and sacrifice. Special Ops 2 is about the war we don't see, until it hits home. It's a reminder that in today's world, the greatest battles are fought without a single bullet fired, but the damage runs just as deep.' Kay Kay Menon also opened up about reprising his iconic character of Himmat Singh. 'Himmat Singh has always fought with grit, intellect, and instinct. But this time, the war isn't visible. The stakes are bigger, the threats more unpredictable and that made this season both relevant and deeply personal to portray. There's a quiet burden Himmat carries of duty, of sacrifice, of knowing more than he can say. This chapter allowed me to explore not just the strategist, but the man behind the mission, the father, the patriot, the constant protector.' 'Special Ops 2' will be out on JioHotstar on July 11.
