Egypt rejects Israeli schemes to separate Gaza from West Bank: FM Abdelatty to Fatah delegation - Foreign Affairs
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed to a Fatah delegation that Egypt rejects Israeli efforts to separate Gaza from the West Bank and any attempts to displace Palestinians and fully supports the Palestinian Authority.
The delegation, led by Fatah Secretary-General Jibril Rajoub, included Rawhi Fattouh, President of the Palestinian National Council, and Mohammad Shtayyeh, former Palestinian Prime Minister, and was in Cairo to assess the escalation in Israeli violence in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
During the meeting, Abdelatty reiterated that Israel's belief in the power of force would create further obstacles to peaceful coexistence among the peoples of the region.
The Foreign Minister emphasized Egypt's rejection of Israel's ongoing aggression in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as its aggressive policies in the region and its use of brutal military force with no regard for international humanitarian law.
He condemned Israel's continued extremist practices against civilians and its actions as a state that considers itself above the law, stressing that illusions of power will not bring Israel the security it imagines.
Instead, the atrocities it commits will only deepen hatred and a desire for revenge against it in the region, creating further obstacles to peaceful coexistence among the peoples of the region.
Abdelatty warned that this would have severely negative repercussions on Israel's security and stability, as well as on the prospects for sustainable peace in the region, cautioning against the consequences of the shameful international silence toward what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories.
On Friday, the Israeli Defense and Security Forum proposed dividing Gaza into "humanitarian islands" under Israeli control, a plan linked to US President Donald Trump's 2025 call to expel Gaza's native Palestinian population.
The Foreign Minister also discussed the Arab plan prepared by Egypt for Gaza's reconstruction and emphasized the importance of reinforcing Palestinian unity and supporting the Palestinian Authority's role in meeting the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
He reiterated Egypt's stance toward a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, advocating for an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Since 18 March, Israel has resumed its genocidal war on Gaza, unilaterally violating the ceasefire brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the US, killing more than 1,000 Palestinians, including at least 322 children, and injuring more than 2,400 others.
Since 21 January, Israeli forces have launched a wide-scale offensive on the northern West Bank, particularly in Jenin, Tulkarm, Tubas, and Nablus.
The Israeli aggression has killed 100 Palestinians, including at least 17 children, and left dozens more, including women and children, injured.
More than 40,000 people have been forcibly displaced, and hundreds of homes and vital infrastructure have been destroyed.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 906 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October 2023.

OPEN// Foreign ministry stresses need to comply with Gaza border visit regulations
CAIRO, June 11 (MENA) - Egypt has welcomed the official and popular international and regional positions supporting Palestinian rights and rejecting the blockade, starvation tactics, and systematic and flagrant Israeli violations against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates affirmed that Egypt continues to work at all levels to end the aggression on Gaza and to bring an end to the humanitarian catastrophe impacting more than two million Palestinians. In this context and in light of recent requests and inquiries regarding visits by foreign delegations to the border areas adjacent to Gaza, especially Arish City and Rafah border crossing, Egypt stresses the necessity of obtaining prior approvals to conduct such visits, the ministry said. The only acceptable way for Egyptian authorities to consider these requests is by adhering to the regulatory framework and procedures established since the start of the war on Gaza, according to the statement. This includes submitting official requests to Egyptian embassies abroad, or through requests submitted by foreign embassies in Cairo or representatives of organizations to the foreign ministry, it said. Numerous visits have already been arranged for foreign delegations either representing governmental bodies or non-governmental human rights organizations, the ministry said. 'Egypt underlines the importance of adhering to these established regulations to ensure the safety of visiting delegations given the sensitive and volatile nature of the border area since the beginning of the Gaza crisis.' 'In this regard, Egypt reaffirms that no requests will be considered nor any invitations will be responded to if they fall outside the approved regulatory framework and established mechanisms,' the statement said. 'Egypt also underlines the importance that all foreign nationals must comply with Egyptian laws and entry regulations, including obtaining the necessary visas or pre-approved permits. 'Finally, Egypt reiterates its unwavering stance in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and its rejection of Israel's blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law. 'It further stresses the importance of exerting pressure on Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza and to allow humanitarian access through all Israeli-controlled crossings with the Strip.' OPEN: FM reiterates Egypt's support for Syrian people
CAIRO, June 11 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty met on Wednesday with Syrian Foreign Minister in the new transitional government Asaad al-Shaibani on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum. Shaibani briefed Abdelatty on the political, security, and economic developments in Syria, as well as the internal and external challenges facing the country recently, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said. Egypt's top diplomat reiterated his country's support for the Syrian people and for efforts exerted to achieve security and stability in the country and preserve its territorial integrity as well as the unity of its national institutions. He stressed the importance of achieving sustainable stability in Syria by involving all Syrian national powers in the political process in a way that reflects the societal, religious, sectarian, and ethnic diversity within Syria. Abdelatty also emphasized the importance of combating terrorism and addressing the phenomenon of foreign fighters to maintain sustainable stability in Syria.
