This further escalates Musk's feud with Trump even as Tesla posted a second straight drop in quarterly deliveries. Their discord over the tax bill erupted into an all-out social media brawl in early June, with Trump threatening to cut Musk's government contracts and subsidies.
"Investors are worried about two things - one is more Trump ire affecting subsidies and the other, more importantly, is a distracted Musk," said Neil Wilson, UK investor strategist at Saxo Markets.
Investors had in May cheered Musk's decision to scale back political spending and remain Tesla CEO for another five years. He had spent nearly $300 million around Trump's re-election campaign last year.

"But now (they) are worried he's going to (get) sucked back in and take his eye off Tesla," Wilson said.
The first signs of investor unease surfaced soon after Musk's announcement, with investment firm Azoria Partners delaying the listing of a Tesla exchange-traded fund.
Trump on Sunday called Musk's plans to form the "America Party" "ridiculous", saying the Musk ally he once named to lead
NASA
would have presented a conflict of interest given Musk's
business
interests in space.
TESLA BOARD MOVES
Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, a Tesla bull, said many investors are feeling a "sense of exhaustion" over Musk's insistence on immersing himself in politics.
Azoria Partners CEO James Fishback posted several critical comments on X about Musk's new party, and called for the Tesla board to clarify Musk's political ambitions and evaluate if his political
involvement
is compatible with his obligations to Tesla as CEO.
The new party undermines the confidence shareholders had that Musk would be focusing more on the company, Fishback said.
Musk's latest political move raises questions around Tesla board's course of action. Its Chair Robyn Denholm in May denied a Wall Street Journal report that said board members were looking to replace the CEO.
Tesla's board, which has been criticized for failing to provide oversight of its combative, headline-making CEO, faces a dilemma managing him as he oversees five other companies and his personal political ambitions.
"This is exactly the kind of thing a board of directors would curtail - removing the CEO if he refused to curtail these kinds of activities," said Ann Lipton, a professor at the University of Colorado Law School and an expert in business law.
"The Tesla board has been fairly supine; they have not, at least not in any demonstrable way, taken any action to force Musk to limit his outside ventures, and it's difficult to imagine they would begin now."
Tensions with Trump, struggling sales and an aging vehicle line-up have hurt Tesla's stock, even as the company bets on growth from autonomous vehicles.
The stock, which soared to over $488 in December after Trump's November re-election, has lost 35% since then and closed last week at $315.35.
Tesla is the worst performing stock among "the Magnificent Seven" group of high-growth U.S. companies this year.

UT Chokes In Dust Chamber
Chandigarh: In a city where the burgeoning number of private vehicles has exceeded the total population, air is bound to be heavy with toxic fumes. For Chandigarh, the tag of "city with the highest density of vehicle ownership in the country" has come at a high price – severe traffic congestion, vehicle exhaust pumping poisonous fumes into the air, and heavy traffic sending clouds of dust floating up. A recent research report reveals that roadside dust is the main contributor to the poor air quality. During the latest meeting of the Chandigarh steering committee under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), the UT chief secretary was informed about a survey conducted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC). The survey found that one of the major source of PM 10 is soil exposed to pollutants. It was also highlighted that source apportionment studies carried out by many states, and preliminary findings of such study carried out in Chandigarh by IIT Kanpur and Ropar, concluded that roadside dust is the main contributor to the poor air quality. Saurabh Kumar, chief conservator of forests (CCF) and director, environment, said, "A major factor is that roadside dust and soil get suspended in the air and lead to deterioration in air quality. The city has high traffic movement, which disturbs the loose roadside dust." Weather and seasonal factors exacerbate the situation. In winter, air quality in the city deteriorates sharply as road dust as well as particulate matter clog the air. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like So sánh mức trượt giá: Hợp đồng tương lai (CFD) Bitcoin vs Ethereum IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Of late, air quality indices in the city during the winter months have been among the worst in the country. Kumar said, "The steering committee has decided that measures to control roadside dust and soil will be initiated well in advance so that roadside dust suspension is minimised." Measures to check pollution The central verge will be covered with eco-friendly honeycomb paver blocks or with thick vegetation cover City roads will be washed at night with tertiary treated water Tertiary water pipelines will be laid on important roads so that water can be sprayed and the roads always remain wet Water will be sprinkled before manual sweeping of city roads The committee also decided that NCAP funds will be spent on tangible actions such as automated road sweeping machines, water fogging machines, etc, to check dust pollution Constituents of roadside dust Particulate matter and pollutants released from vehicles that accumulate on and near roads Particles from tyre and brake wear, road surface abrasion, and resuspended road dust from traffic Traffic and vehicular density As per the latest Rites survey (2024-25), Chandigarh registers more than 15 lakh motorised inter-city trips per day. The Rites survey conducted in 2008 pegged daily total inter-city passenger traffic at 4.93 lakh trips. More than six lakh motor vehicles were registered in Chandigarh in 2005. Cost of prosperity According to the Chandigarh Master Plan (CMP-2031), the city has the highest number of motorised vehicles per capita in the country. The CMP states, "The share of two-wheelers and cars in total traffic is more than 80%. Household travel surveys indicate high ownership of cars and two-wheelers — 86% of households own at least one car or two-wheeler." During peak hours, on the busiest junctions, like Transport Chowk, nearly 80% of vehicles are private ones, concluded a recent Rites report. Chandigarh Traffic Police Annual Report says that against a vehicle population of 13.7 lakh, the city's population was 12.7 lakh in 2023. The vehicle population increased from 8.8 lakh in 2012 to 13.7 lakh in 2023. Wage hike: Contract sanitary workers feel deceived by Coimbatore corporation
Coimbatore: Contract sanitary workers on Saturday accused the city corporation of deceiving them by promising to hike their wages to around Rs681 per day from around Rs560, with effect from May 1, 2025. The temporary workers said it was following a protest in April that the city corporation agreed to pay them around Rs681 per day. "The civic body said the gross salary it could offer was Rs20,454 per month. Officials told us that the revised salary will come into effect from May 1. But in May, those of us who worked for the entire month without taking any leave were paid only around Rs16,000 after deductions. It looks like the civic body is deducting both the employee's and employer's contributions to the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) scheme and the provident fund (PF) from our salaries. If it does so, it's unfair," said one of the contract workers, who didn't want to be named. After receiving the salary for the month of May, more than 2,000 contract sanitary workers had taken out nearly a week-long protest in the first week of June, seeking the revised wage. Following a series of negotiations with the workers' unions, the corporation had agreed to pay them Rs681 per day for 30 working days, including four weekly off days. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo The workers' demand for payslips was also accepted, and the payslip for May was issued in July. Commenting on the salary mentioned in the payslip, Tamil Nadu Selvam, general secretary, Tamil Nadu Annal Ambedkar Scavengers General Employees Union, said the city corporation was deceiving the contract sanitary workers. "The payslip shows that both the employee's and employer's contributions to the insurance scheme and PF were deducted from the workers' salaries, which is against the law. Say, if the monthly salary is Rs20,400, one should be paid approximately Rs18,800 after the deductions for ESI and PF. Instead, they were paid just Rs16,000," he said. Santhanam Kumar, one of the contract workers, wondered whether the law allows for double deduction for the ESI and PF benefits. "If we are still getting only Rs16,000, what difference did the negotiations make? Drivers are paid better than the sanitary workers. We are the ones who clear the city's waste, regardless of our health, family and timing. Even if a worker goes on leave for two days, the accumulated waste is still cleared by the same worker. " While TOI made several attempts to reach corporation officials for a comment on the allegations raised by the contract sanitary workers, no one was available for a comment.

KMC razes illegal stalls, reclaims govt plot on Anwar Shah Road
1 2 3 4 Kolkata: The KMC on Saturday deployed earth movers to pull down shops and other structures that encroached on a govt plot on Prince Anwar Shah Road near Lord's crossing. The plot, owned by the state information and cultural affairs department at 355, Prince Anwar Shah Road, does not have a boundary wall, allowing encroachers a free run. According to a KMC official, the drive was planned at the civic headquarters and was kept a secret to prevent the news from reaching the encroachers so that they did not get a chance to put up resistance. "We planned to conduct the drive with police without informing the encroachers about it, as that would have led to a ruckus and our work would have been hampered. Last time, the drive to oust encroachers from the state-owned plot was met with resistance. So, we decided on this surprise drive," said a senior KMC official. A KMC solid waste management official said the civic team was mobilised at the Lord's crossing around 1 pm for the demolition. The presence of a large posse of policemen helped civic officials continue with the drive unhindered. "When we left, it was late evening. By then, we had demolished 48 stalls to free up the govt land," said a civic official, adding it was a 30-cottah plot. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like So sánh mức trượt giá: Hợp đồng tương lai (CFD) Bitcoin vs Ethereum IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo You Can Also Check: Kolkata AQI | Weather in Kolkata | Bank Holidays in Kolkata | Public Holidays in Kolkata According to a KMC official, the civic body will need to barricade the land now and keep a watch on it. Back in June 2024, chief minister Mamata Banerjee had mentioned the encroachment on the Prince Anwar Shah plot while speaking about govt properties and public spaces being taken over illegally. There was an attempt to free the land in 2018, but it was unsuccessful, she had said. Within hours of Banerjee's announcement last year, a police team had visited the plot and collected the names, addresses and phone numbers of the stall owners there. A KMC official had said they were demarcating a 7.5-cottah plot, while owners of the unauthorised structures on the land claimed it was 29-cottah. Now that the illegal structures have been pulled down, the KMC will calculate the exact area and build a wall around it. Stalls selling food, vegetables and lottery tickets and a Trinamool office were among those that occupied the plot, said an official.
