August 14 - The Miami Dolphins placed veteran Germain Ifedi on season-ending injured reserve and signed fellow offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste on Thursday.
Ifedi, a former first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks, signed with Miami on Aug. 3 as the Dolphins were dealing with multiple injuries up front.
Details of the injury were not disclosed for Ifedi, 31, who has started 90 of his 117 career games with the Seahawks (2016-19), Chicago Bears (2020-21), Atlanta Falcons (2022) and Cleveland Browns (2024).
Cajuste, 29, was drafted in the third round by New England in 2019. He participated in 17 games (five starts) for the Patriots from 2021-22 but has been unable to stay healthy since then.

Georgia TV station airs ultimate awkward error over NFL quarterback Michael Penix Jr.'s last name

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has a uniquely spelled last name, with autocorrect or missing one letter leading to a hilariously disastrous result, like what happened Wednesday night. Savannah, Georgia's CBS affiliate, WTOC, aired an interview with Penix, incorrectly putting an X as the last letter of his name. Instead, WTOC's chyron read, ' Michael Penis Jr' alongside 'Falcons quarterback'. The news station has not commented on the error and the video package no longer appears on WTOC's website. Penix is in his second season with the Falcons, after being selected No 8 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the team. The former Washington Huskies signal caller enters the fall as the starting quarterback for Atlanta for the first time, usurping veteran Kirk Cousins. Savannah CBS affiliate WTOC had a bit of an oopsie during last night's evening newscast... — Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) August 14, 2025 Fans on social media have found WTOC's error hysterical, with some incredulous how this made it to air without being caught. 'Sounds like someone got the shaft from their job today,' one NFL fan said. 'I've noticed how there seems to be a developing art of failing to proofread chyrons across tv. This is the MVP of that movement,' a second football supporter added. During Wednesday's join practice with the Tennessee Titans, Penix was in the middle of a massive fight between the teams, a rarity for the starting quarterback. It was Penix saying his words 'went a little bit too far' before the brawl with Tennessee that sparked the chaos.

Wayne Rooney: Criticism from Birmingham minority owner Tom Brady ‘very unfair'

Rooney, sacked by Birmingham in January 2024 after less than three months in charge, said he was 'really disappointed with the comment' on his new podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show, which launches on Friday. NFL great Brady, who became a minority shareholder at Birmingham in August 2023, said he was 'a little worried about our head coach's work ethic' during a documentary after visiting Blues' training ground the following November. Former England captain Rooney said he was 'really disappointed' at the seven-time Super Bowl winner's criticism. Speaking via his new show on the BBC, the ex-Everton and Manchester United striker said: 'I think Tom came in once, which was the day before a game where the days are a little bit lighter anyway, and I don't think he really understood football that well. 'But what he does understand is – he's a hard worker – we know that.' Rooney added: 'Football is not NFL – NFL works for three months a year. Players do need rest as well, so I think he's very unfair, the way he's come out and portrayed that.' Birmingham were bought out by American consortium Knighthead Capital Management in the summer of 2023 and Brady became a shareholder two months later. Rooney was sacked following 15 matches after Blues had slipped to 20th in the Sky Bet Championship and the club were relegated at the end of the 2023-24 season. Under current boss Chris Davies, Birmingham bounced straight back to the second tier as League One champions last season with an English Football League record points tally of 111.
