Broncos will have 2 players share a jersey number this offseason
The Denver Broncos have their 90-man* offseason roster set ahead of the summer, and each player has a number, but not everyone has their own number.
During the offseason, the NFL allows players to share numbers if they play on opposite sides of the ball. The Broncos have 91* players on their roster, and with six numbers not made available, the team can start to run out of options between 0-99 when the league's number restrictions are taken into account.
So, the league allows players to share when there's a numbers crunch. This summer, undrafted rookie cornerback Joshua Pickett and undrafted wide receiver Kyrese White will both wear No. 39. If they both end up making the team, one of Pickett or White will have to choose a new number ahead of the regular season.
Once the 53-man roster is set, several players could end up changing numbers. One player of note to watch is rookie running back RJ Harvey, who seems unlikely to wear No. 37 during his rookie season.
*The NFL's offseason roster limit is 90 players, but the Broncos have an extra spot because Australian-born rookie punter Jeremy Crawshaw gets a roster exemption as part of the league's international player program.

Report says bullet was fired into Chiefs coach Andy Reid's office last spring while he was there
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A bullet was fired into Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid's office at the team's practice facility last spring while he was inside, the Kansas City Star reported Wednesday. The Star, citing multiple sources, reported Reid was working alone in his office in early May 2024 when a bullet fired from outside the building broke through glass and left a hole through the window and blinds. It got lodged in a wall between his bathroom and the entry door to his office. The team installed bulletproof glass soon afterward. The Star reported two more bullets hit the facility, with one striking the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few people people in the organization knew about the incident. A Chiefs spokesman declined comment to the AP on Wednesday night. The incident occurred just months after Reid led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl championship repeat and their third title in a five-year span. They won the AFC again last season, only to lose to Philadelphia. Reid has a 273-146-1 record in 12 seasons with the Chiefs and 14 with the Eagles. He ranks fourth on the NFL's all-time wins list behind Don Shula, George Halas and Bill Belichick. ___ AP NFL:

Why Shedeur Sanders's quick return is notable for Browns
Yahoo Sports host Andrew Siciliano reports from Cleveland on the Browns rookie quarterback's performance in practice on Wednesday and what it means for potentially playing in the team's preseason finale on Saturday. Hear the full conversation on 'Inside Coverage' - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript Let's get some other injury news. I'm in Cleveland right now. I was at Brown's practice today, and we're now in game week reporting protocols. So there's only so much I can say. But I can tell you, because Kevin Stefanski talked about it afterwards, that Shor Sanders was back today doing some individual work. It's Joe Flacco with the ones, obviously. But it was good to see after an oblique injury, Shor out there actually throwing the football with a helmet on, with pads on, and the Browns have posted on social a nice deep ball he threw down the left sideline that the free agent rookie Kade McDonald made a nice over-the-shoulder catch on against the sideline. So there's that, and it's notable because when you hear of oblique injuries, especially, let's talk baseball. A guy gets an oblique injury in baseball, you're sometimes out six weeks. It's a rotational injury. You can't swing a bat. The idea that a quarterback with an oblique injury is already back throwing 30-yard fades, just a few days later is good news, certainly for the Browns. Kenny Pickett did 11-on-11 yesterday. That was the first time he had done 11-on-11 team stuff for three weeks since his hamstring injury, but he really didn't do anything today, off to the side, threw some individuals, and that was part of the plan, Stefanski said. There was no setback because Pickett isn't going to play Saturday in the preseason finale. So because it was more game rep stuff today, no need to really overwork Kenny Pickett. So behind Flacco, hopefully, fingers crossed, you get to see both of the rookies come Saturday. Close

Why Cam Ward's scuffle response is good sign for the Titans
Yahoo Sports host Andrew Siciliano and NFL writer Charles McDonald discuss the number one overall pick's comments following a practice shoving match with teammate Jeffery Simmons and why it's a positive turn towards gaining respect in Tennessee. Hear the full conversation on 'Inside Coverage' - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript The story this week is Cam threw a long touchdown pass to Calvin Ridley. He started chirping, people got heated, and then when Cam ran into the end zone, he gave a two-handed shove to Jeffrey Simmons' back, of all people, not some random defensive lineman whos on, you know, the practice squad next week, but Jeffrey Simmons' back. Simmons turned around and hit him in the face with an open hand, using two hands to the helmet. Heres a quote: Jeff is strong as bleep. It was fun, and I think it was exactly what we needed. We love competing, just me and Jeff, and Im excited to have that man as my teammate. That is Cam Ward. Brian Callahan says hes not too bothered, and didnt deem it necessary to throw either player out of practice because practice was, for all intents and purposes, over at that point and only had a couple of reps left. Simmons said its training camp, and tempers flare. I respect the hell out of our offense for having the quarterbacks' backs. At the end of the day, were family, and weve moved on from it. Its like, youve seen this before in prison movies, right? Bear with me. Where its like you gotta take on the biggest, baddest guy to gain everyone elses respect. Cam Ward already had everyones respect, but he decided, Charles, Im gonna go after Jeffrey Simmons, plant my flag, and get everyone to rally behind me. And I think Simmons, just judging by these quotes and seeing on my camera is like, all right dude, like I see you, were good. Yeah, I mean, football is different, man. Its because I, look, people see some of these training camp fights and think, oh, what does this mean? Nothing, it really means nothing. Youll go back to normal. Yeah, you might not even talk about it like five seconds after it happens. You just kind of move on and forget about it. But its funny that you said that because I was just thinking this whole Cam Ward experience since he got to Tennessee, its like its been like him declaring, I am king of the mountain and I will guide you to the light, because he came in like one of the First training camp practices, no, that was me. We weren't good today. We're gonna try to figure it out. Uh, he's been really, you know, commanding of his teammates, trying to get everyone to play with a little bit more fire, a little more edge. Uh, pushing Jeffrey Simmons is an interesting strategy, um, especially because in the moment where it's bold, you know, you push Jeffrey, he might not be thinking, oh, that's the franchise quarterback, I probably shouldn't hit him in the face. Which I believe he wasn't thinking, but I do, I do respect him in this sense. Like, at least he's gonna own it. He's not gonna back down, uh, you know, he's he's not afraid of, you know, poking the bear to be a little bit more literal in this sense. Uh, and I think it's, it's fun to see someone to kind of come in and try to take the reins. So I'm a, I'm a fan of this Cam Ward stuff. Close
