Coolie advance booking: Rajinikanth's movie eyes blockbuster ₹15 crore+ opening, 4.9 lakh tickets sold
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and backed by Sun Pictures, the action drama is eyeing record-breaking advance bookings, setting the stage for one of the biggest openings ever for a Tamil film.
Coolie is expected to strike gold on Day 1 and is estimated to earn at least ₹ 15 crore on its opening day.
Notably, it is only the first-day estimate. Coolie is likely to earn a lot more through advance ticket sales in the next three days before the release.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Coolie has so far sold 4,97,143 tickets for 5,421 shows in all formats across India. The movie has collected a gross of ₹ 10.32 crore from ticket sales.
Furthermore, considering block seats, the movie is set to have an opening with ₹ 16.45 crore gross earnings.
City-wise, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have the highest number of screenings for Rajinikanth's Coolie.
In Kerala alone, over 2 lakh tickets have already been sold in advance, raking in more than ₹ 3 crore before release.
States like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka top the list with maximum revenue from first-day advance booking. Maharashtra follows closely on the list, followed by Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Coolie will open in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, boosting its pan-India appeal.
The star-studded cast, featuring Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj, has only added to the growing excitement.
While Coolie looks set to dominate southern markets and global territories, it will face box office competition in the Hindi belt from NTR Jr and Hritik Roshan's War 2.

Music composer Amaal Mallik is known for his unfiltered opinions on the way the music industry works today. He's had beef with the likes of T-Series top honcho Bhushan Kumar. But his father, Daboo Malik, also a composer, feels Amaal's forthright streak stems from the fact that he's a self-made man who has also been the family's sole breadwinner for the longest time. 'He's the first elder son to whom the father comes and says, 'Beta, main haar gaya (Son, I've lost)'. Which father does that to his 15-year-old innocent child? Actors Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's much anticipated action thriller War 2 is set to hit theaters on August 14 in multiple languages. The film's advance booking numbers are looking promising, with the film witnessing a 10 times surge in pre-sales after opening of Telugu shows. Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan play Indian agents who face off in Ayan Mukerji's War 2. War 2 advance bookings surge On Sunday, Yash Raj Films announced the opening of advance booking for the upcoming film, War 2. And a surge in bookings was witnessed on Tuesday evening. War 2's advance booking was gaining momentum, with the film selling around 2,500 tickets per hour until the evening on Tuesday. However, the numbers saw a significant surge after Telugu shows opened, with ticket sales skyrocketing to 25,000 per hour, marking a substantial jump. Several screenshots of the same have surfaced on social media. War 2's advance booking has gained momentum. Initially slated to open on August 11, pre-sales in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were delayed by a day due to a pending government order regarding ticket price hikes. As per Sacnilk, before bookings opening in the Telugu states, War 2 registered business of around ₹10 crore gross (with block seats) for the opening day for its Hindi version. However, things changed after Telugu state bookings went live, with BookMyShow registering over 20,000 ticket sales per hour. According to a report by Sacnilk, the film has registered business of ₹9.8 crore in advance booking.
