Suniel Shetty says he ‘salutes' daughter Athiya for quitting films to embrace motherhood: ‘She's got the best role of her life, of a mom'
Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty's daughter and actor Athiya Shetty bid adieu to the Hindi film industry after tying the knot with cricketer KL Rahul. Now, Suniel has opened up about the reason behind Athiya's exit from the film industry. In a recent conversation, Suniel shared that while the digital age has put pressure on people to accomplish certain things by a certain point in life, it's not necessary to give in to that pressure, and one must live life on their own terms. He also lauded Athiya for listening to her heart and stepping away from films to focus on her family.
Sharing his conversation with Athiya during an interview with Zoom, Suniel said, 'She said, 'Baba, I don't want to,' and she just left. And that's what I salute her for — saying, 'I'm not interested. I don't want to do films.' After Motichoor Chaknachoor, a lot came her way. 'But I don't want to. I am comfortable, you know?''
Praising Athiya for fully embracing the role of a mother, he added, 'And today, she's got the best role of her life. You know, she's working in the best film, and that is the life — the role of a mother — and she's loving it.'
During the conversation, Suniel also opened up about supporting his son-in-law during the Koffee With Karan controversy and explained why he has never appeared on the popular talk show despite being asked multiple times. He said, 'Whatever happens, don't put it out in public, in the media because I am not looking for publicity. What do I talk about after coming on an entertainment channel?' Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul had found themselves embroiled in controversy in 2019 after making sexist and racially insensitive comments on Koffee With Karan. Following the backlash, both players were temporarily suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Athiya's Film Career
Athiya began her acting career with Nikhil Advani's 2015 film Hero, which was produced by Salman Khan and also marked the debut of Sooraj Pancholi. Two years later, she appeared in Anees Bazmee's romantic comedy Mubarakan, which starred Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Ileana D'Cruz. She was last seen in Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Motichoor Chaknachoor in 2019.
Athiya tied the knot with KL Rahul in 2023, and the couple welcomed their daughter Evaarah in March this year.

Meet most expensive director of country who has given blockbusters at box office, charges Rs 200 crore for single film, net worth is…, he is…
The director significantly contributes to a film's success at the box office. But are you aware of who the highest-paid director in India is? Today, we share details about a director who has become synonymous with successful films. His charges exceed those of even the top superstars of industry. Just because of his consistency and love for cinema, this director has earned the title of India's most expensive director. Let's identify who he is. The Maverick Director… Here we are referring about Telugu director, SS Rajamouli, who has given outstanding films like Eega, Magadheera, Bahubali and RRR. According to IMDb, SS Rajamouli, a Telugu filmmaker, reportedly charges approximately Rs 200 crore for directing a movie. This figure encompasses his initial payment, profit share, and bonuses from the sale of rights. Notably, this amount can rise even further based on the film's success. The better a film performs, the larger SS Rajamouli's cut becomes. As per estimates, Rajamouli's net worth is around Rs 158 crore, as he receives a significant income from his films, personal investments, and his production company. Additionally, he is recognized in the business sector and has made a considerable sum from several advertisements recently. Rajamouli's Earnings From His Blockbuster RRR As per reports, Rajamouli earned roughly Rs 200 crore from his monstrous blockbuster RRR, featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR. SS Rajamouli has reached this level due to the achievements of the gigantic Baahubali franchise. A fee of 200 crores positions him as one of the country's highest-paid film directors. In contrast, even major stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan earn only about 150 to 180 crores per film, which is less than what Rajamouli earns. His substantial fees indicate that he holds a superstar status among directors. RRR was promoted primarily as SS Rajamouli's film in North India, despite involvement of two major South Indian actors, Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The Benchmark Of SS Rajamouli Only Baahubali 2 made history by grossing Rs 510 crore in Hindi. This film remained the top-grossing Hindi film for six years, until the release of Shah Rukh Khan's action-thriller Pathan in 2023. Similarly, RRR also performed exceptionally well at the box office, with its Hindi version earning over 270 crores. If industry insiders are to be believed, no other director has come close to matching SS Rajamouli's earnings. His fees are more than double those of other directors in India. Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prashanth Neel charge around 90 crores per film. Among the well-known filmmakers, Rajkumar Hirani's earnings are estimated to be about 80 crores. Directors such as Sukumar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Siddharth Anand charge upwards of 40 crores for a film.

'Thug Life' Box Office Collection Day 5: Kamal Haasan collects around Rs 3.25 crore on first Monday
Picture Credit: Facebook Mani Ratnam 's eagerly awaited film 'Thug Life,' starring Kamal Haasan , ended its first Monday at the box office. According to preliminary estimates, it made about Rs 3.25 crore on the fifth day. The movie had a great first day, earning Rs 15.5 crore, with the Tamil version contributing Rs 13.35 crore, according to trade analyst Sacnilk. Nevertheless, the movie saw a steep decline of almost 54% on Friday, grossing Rs 7.15 crore, before making a modest comeback on Saturday with Rs 7.75 crore. Monday's collection was the lowest single-day earning to date, totalling Rs 40.15 crore, after Sunday saw another decline with Rs 6.5 crore. Occupancy trends across languages With morning shows at 14.11%, afternoon shows at 19.53%, evening shows at 17.99%, and night shows at 20.57%, "Thug Life" had an overall Tamil occupancy of 18.05% on Monday. With a significantly lower occupancy rate of 5.09%, the Hindi version was used by 3.51% in the morning, 4.31% in the afternoon, 5.48% in the evening, and 7.06% at night. With an overall occupancy of 14.25%, morning shows at 12.87%, afternoon at 15.37%, evening at 15.81%, and night at 12.94%, the Telugu version performed better than Hindi but worse than Tamil. About the film The storyline of 'Thug Life' revolves around Sakthivel Nayakar, who was a notorious mafia don and looks for revenge against betrayal. The film features Kamal Haasan as Sakthivel as the lead actor, along with significant roles by Trisha Krishnan , Silambarasan TR , Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George , Nassar, Ali Fazal, and Mahesh Manjrekar. 'Thug Life' received mixed notices, though, given the anticipation of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's reunion after nearly four decades apart. While the actors' performances and technical acumen were praised by some, others believed that the overall impact of the film was negated by its overpopulated plot and underdeveloped characters.
