We Are Ideological Opponents, Not Enemies: D Fadnavis On Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday thanked NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for praising him in the coffee table book released on his birthday, saying they were his ideological opponents, not enemies.
Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan released a coffee table book titled 'Maharashtra Nayak' on Mr Fadnavis at Raj Bhavan to mark his 55th birthday.
Asked about the remarks made by Mr Thackeray and Mr Pawar in the book about his zeal and passion towards his work, Fadnavis said he was thankful to Uddhav Thackeray.
"We are ideological opponents and not enemies," he said while speaking to reporters in Nagpur.
"Sharad Pawar is a large-hearted and senior leader. His comments are priceless for me," he said.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday questioned the recurring terror attacks during the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) rule, pointing to the recent Pahalgam attack where 26 civilians were killed. Before the Pahalgam incident, there was an attack in Pulwama. Where did the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack disappear to?' He lauded the armed forces for Operation Sindoor and remarked, 'We congratulate the army for its bravery, courage and valour. If the army had another chance, it could have taken POK.' The SP chief further alleged that the central government's foreign policy has failed. He said that while India has built global goodwill, it has failed to receive adequate support during critical times. 'India is respected in many countries of the world, but when the need arose, no one stood with India. It is a matter of concern that many countries are doing business with us, but why did they not stand up at the time of need?' he questioned. Criticising trade relations with China, he said, 'Trade is being done with China; everyone saw what China did. The central government should make a decision that for the next ten years, we will not allow any Chinese goods to come to India. Everything for the rich is coming from China. 1 2 Lucknow: At the centre of a row over their attire while visiting a mosque on Parliament Street in Delhi with party MPs last week, Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said whatever he wears for Parliament sessions will be his dress for every other venue. "Jo Lok Sabha mein pahen ke ayenge wohi humari har jagah dress ho gi (Whatever I will wear to attend Lok Sabha will be my dress for everywhere else)," Akhilesh told reporters over objections raised by a Muslim cleric over the dress of SP MPs during the mosque visit. A political storm erupted after Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav and other SP MPs visited the mosque on the invite of party's Rampur MP Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi, who was earlier the Imam of this mosque. BJP had said Dimple Yadav was "inappropriately dressed" during the visit. The issue came under focus after photographs of the visit surfaced, showing SP members, including Dimple Yadav, seated inside the mosque. The controversy escalated after Maulana Sajid Rashid — president of the All India Imam Association — made an objectionable and misogynistic comment about Dimple Yadav who was wearing a sari at a meeting in the mosque and compared her to another woman SP MP, Iqra Hasan, who had covered her head. Maulana Rashidi said it would have been better had Dimple Yadav covered her head. Taking serious exception to Maulana's comment, SP functionaries lodged an FIR against him at the Vibhuti Khand police station in Lucknow.
