Sarah Michelle Gellar reveals secret behind marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr
When Jenna Bush Hager and Tiffany Haddish asked Buffy the Vampire Slayer star the secret to her 22-year marriage to Freddie Prinze, Jr. during a recent interview, she gave a pithy response. 'Separate bathrooms!'
'That's it? It's that simple?' an incredulous Hager asked during Thursday's episode of Today With Jenna and Friends.
'It's that simple,' Gellar confirmed, reports Page Six.
Haddish, however, had a different theory.
'See, I was thinking it was like the ['I Love Lucy'] thing where [Lucy and Ricky had] twin beds, and then when y'all want to get together you push them together, and when you want to be apart, you push them apart,' Haddish, who was Hager's temporary co-host, said.
'I had not thought of that,' Gellar conceded. 'That is actually a really good idea.'
Gellar, 48, met Prinze, 49, on the set of iconic '90s slasher flick I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997. However, they wouldn't go on their first date until three years later, in 2000.
'We were friends for a very long time,' the Cruel Intentions actress recalled during an interview with People in 2020.
'We'd had many dinners before. And we were supposed to go with someone else, and the third person didn't make it out and we decided to still go.'
After that first date, Prinze knew she was the one. 'I didn't go on dates with other girls, nor did I even want to pursue dates with other girls,' he told the outlet.
They married in a star-studded ceremony in Mexico in 2002 and subsequently welcomed two children — daughter Charlotte in 2009 and son Rocky in 2012.
Gellar shared a more serious take on what goes into a successful long-term relationship during a 2024 interview with Fox News Digital.
'I think everything takes work in you, whether it's a friendship or a work relationship or a marriage,' she said at the time.
'You have to put the work in,' she added, noting that 'we live in an extremely disposable society now.'
'Your phone breaks, you don't fix it,' Gellar continued. 'You get a new one. And I think that's a lot of the attitude toward relationships.'

This is the [Grateful] Dead, or this is Bob [Weir] and Mickey [Hart] and Billy Kreutzmann from the Dead, but my thing was always, 'Oh, you got to stretch it. "Some of the best shows we've ever played were just letting it go and playing, and so it's taught me how to do that."

Country superstar Morgan Wallen pulls out of Grammys race despite number 1 album
Morgan Wallen will not submit his best-selling country album for Grammy Awards consideration. The US country singer's representatives did not provide Fox News Digital with additional details surrounding the unusual decision. Wallen, 32, took the country music industry by storm with his 2018 If I Know Me debut, but only recently received his first Grammy nominations in 2025 for his I Had Some Help collaboration with Post Malone. The superstar singer released his fourth studio album I'm The Problem earlier this year, which debuted at No. 1 on the charts and extended his run as the country artist with the most debuts to top the Billboard 200. The 37-track catalogue dominated the Billboard Hot 100 charts, too, with 36 of the tracks making an appearance on the leaderboard. In addition, the album secured Wallen's spot as the only artist to earn each spot in the top 10 of the Hot Country Songs chart. Following the release, Wallen embarked on a 19-date North American stadium tour with guests including Brooks & Dunn, Ella Langley and Thomas Rhett. While it's unclear why Wallen does not want to enter the catalogue for consideration, Wallen's no stranger to conflicts. One month after the release of his second studio album, Dangerous: The Double Album, in January 2021, Wallen found himself in his biggest controversy to date. In February 2021, a video surfaced showing Wallen using a racial slur while walking home with a group of friends. The singer uttered a racial epithet and used other profanities. Shortly after the incident, he issued an apology. Wallen faced backlash online and also from within the country music industry. Wallen was also banned from attending the 2021 American Music Awards, and was not invited to the Billboard Music Awards despite earning six nominations. He was also dropped by his record label, and his music was banned from iHeartRadio. Representatives for the Recording Academy did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for more information.
