What's tearing Nick and Judy apart in 'Zootopia 2' trailer?

Express Tribune2 days ago
Disney has finally released the full trailer for Zootopia 2, and it's raising more questions than answers, especially about the dynamic between Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. The buddy-cop duo, once inseparable, now finds their partnership under official scrutiny, landing them in a hilariously tense 'Partners in Crisis' therapy programme.
While fans may have long shipped the rabbit-fox duo romantically, the sequel keeps things professional, sort of. In the trailer, Chief Bogo (voiced by Idris Elba) assigns them to counselling, sparking comedic friction and underlying tension. But the therapy subplot isn't just fluff. Soon after, a dangerous new case involving a venomous snake drags them into a dark conspiracy unfolding in Zootopia's underbelly.
Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman reprise their beloved roles as Judy and Nick. They're joined by returning favourites like Bonnie Hunt, Nate Torrence, Jenny Slate, Alan Tudyk, and even Tommy Chong. New faces are teased but still largely under wraps, fuelling speculation online about surprise cameos or fresh villains.
The film's visuals are more textured and stylised, hinting at a slightly more mature tone. There's still plenty of slapstick humour, but it's layered with themes of trust, growth, and fractured alliances. One scene shows Judy storming out of a counselling session, while Nick mutters, 'Maybe we're just not cut out for this anymore.'
With Zootopia 2 set to hit cinemas on 26 November 2025, fan theories are already spinning. Some believe the snake may be a metaphor for betrayal. Others are hoping for a full romantic confession between the leads. Whether this sequel deepens the lore or disrupts the friendship at its core, one thing is clear: not everything in Zootopia is as harmonious as it seems.

Ed Sheeran unveils new song with Rupert Grint in matching outfit

Ed Sheeran is sparking major buzz online after teasing a brand-new song in a quirky Instagram Reel, featuring none other than his longtime lookalike, Rupert Grint. In the post, both men appear in identical floral shirts, lip-syncing to an emotionally charged snippet that fans are already calling Sheeran's most scathing lyrics to date. The short clip begins with Sheeran singing along to the unreleased track, only for the camera to flip dramatically to Grint, equally committed to the performance. The lyrics alone hint at a far more bitter tone than Sheeran's usual heartfelt fare: 'And one day we'll all be dead / But between now and then / I never want to see you again / I used to love you / Now every day I hate you just a little more.' The post, captioned 'I like this song – The real Ed Sheeran,' offers no further details, no song title, no confirmation of a music video, and no explanation for Grint's involvement. But the dramatic pairing and coordinated outfits suggest something visual is on the way, possibly a full-fledged collaboration for the track's official video. Fans are also speculating this could be part of Sheeran's upcoming album PLAY, slated for release on September 12. The project already includes singles 'Azizam' and 'Sapphire', and Sheeran recently confirmed he contributed an original track to the Zootopia 2 soundtrack alongside Shakira. Online reaction has been a mix of amusement and intrigue. Some fans praised the humour, while others were drawn to the song's brutal honesty. One comment read, 'This is the pettiest Ed has ever been and I love it.' Whether the track is a diss, a story, or a real-life heartbreak anthem, it's clear Sheeran's not holding back this era.

Lindsay Lohan comes full circle with ‘Freakier Friday'

LONDON: Lindsay Lohan says she drew upon her own experiences of motherhood for 'Freakier Friday', the highly-anticipated sequel to her hit 2003 movie 'Freaky Friday'. Lohan, 39, welcomed her first child in 2023, a year before the Disney movie was filmed. 'It felt full circle for me, and also the timing was pretty impeccable considering that I'm a new mom and I was able to bring being a mom into the character,' Lohan said at the film's London premiere on Thursday. 'It's the first time I'm able to do that on screen.' 'Freaky Friday', with a reported budget of $26 million, was a surprise hit, making over $160 million worldwide and obtaining a cult following. The 2025 follow-up sees Lohan and actress Jamie Lee Curtis reprising the roles of mother and daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman. Twenty years on, Anna is a single parent to tomboy teen daughter Harper, played by Julia Butters. Their relationship comes under stress when Anna falls for Eric (Manny Jacinto), the father of Harper's new British classmate Lily (Sophia Hammons), and they decide to get married. The future stepsisters, with a mutual dislike for one another, decide to intervene. While the 2003 film saw a body swap between Tess and Anna, things get 'freakier' this time around with Tess and Anna switching bodies with Lily and Harper. Before signing on to the sequel, Lohan ensured that Anna returned as a multi-faceted and relatable character. 'It was important to me that we explained who Anna is today and how she's evolved and the dynamic between her and her daughter as she's a single working mom. There are some basic points that I wanted to get across because I want people to see the movie and find a piece of it that they can grab onto and be like, 'okay, I get that',' she said. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, the movie also sees actor Chad Michael Murray reprising the role of young Anna's love interest, Jake. Shooting the sequel was a 'lovefest', said Murray. 'It was the same, but better. It felt very much like connective tissue to the first movie. Everyone loved going to work and no one wanted to go home.' 'Freakier Friday' marks Lohan's big screen return. 'It's obviously nerve-wracking because you want it to be great and you want people to love what you do,' she said. 'As long as people are enjoying what I'm doing and it's making them happy, then I feel like I'm doing my job and that's what I'm here to do.' 'Freakier Friday' begins its global cinematic rollout on August 6.

Meryl Streep draws crowds in heatwave as fans wait hours to see The Devil Wears Prada 2 set in New York

Fans congregated along midtown Manhattan, enduring temperatures near 100 °F, in hopes of catching a glimpse of Meryl Streep and her Devil Wears Prada 2 co-stars filming inside a Dior store. The location was secured as the setting for a scene, with windowpanes covered by crumpled brown paper to shield the interior. Approximately 60 people stood in the shade across the street, phones at the ready in expectation of spotting the legendary actress. The filming took place across a busy six-lane section of 57th Street, with taxis and cyclists passing between viewers and the closed storefront. One onlooker, Diana Nassar, paused during her workday at Prime Video to photograph the scene. She had been tracking the production on Instagram and was redirected to the shoot location by a crew member who provided the schedule and water to ease her wait. 'I just want to see something in action,' Nassar said, reflecting the sentiment of many who had gathered. Among them were Alison Stewart and her sister Sarah McManus, British tourists who had planned a U.S. film location tour. They learned the shoot coincided with their New York stop, and arrived by late morning, hoping to witness at least one take before their evening flight. Stewart recounted spotting Streep exiting a car: 'It was exciting.' Meanwhile, New York software engineer Amal Matmati said she braved the heat to admire the cast's fashion and costumes. Paparazzi had already captured images of Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt in stylish new looks ahead of the film's release. Matmati added, 'It's out of context... it makes me more excited to see the movie.' While Disney's 20th Century has not publicly announced upcoming shoot locations, production notice postings bearing the word 'cerulean' hinted at the film's connection to the original's iconic reference. For many spectators, the real-time fashion tableau on set only deepened anticipation for what the sequel may bring.
