FM stresses restoring maritime stability in Red Sea, Suez Canal serves global economy
CAIRO, May 24 (MENA) – Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized that the resumption of regular maritime traffic in the Red Sea and Suez Canal serves the global economy, particularly in light of recent geopolitical challenges that have affected navigation with Egypt bearing heavy economic cost.
His remarks were made in an opinion article published in Lloyd's List, a leading international journal specializing in maritime shipping and logistics.
Abdelatty highlighted the impact of de-escalation efforts in the Red Sea region on improving maritime safety, international trade and resilience of global supply chains.
The article reaffirmed Egypt's firm commitment to ensuring regional security and stability.
'In the meantime, we must simultaneously address the root cause of regional escalation in order to preserve the current state of stability in the Red Sea. As such, Egypt will continue to exert its utmost efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and establish a political horizon that fosters peace and security between both Palestinians and Israelis,' the foreign minister wrote. OPEN// FM lauds ongoing progress in relations with Turkey
CAIRO, June 8 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised on Sunday the ongoing progress in bilateral relations with Turkey, following a series of high-level reciprocal visits between the two countries. In a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's eagerness to further strengthen economic, investment and trade cooperation, leveraging the substantial capabilities and opportunities available to both friendly nations. The call is part of regular diplomatic engagement aimed at deepening Egyptian-Turkish cooperation and exchanging views on key developments in the Middle East. The two foreign ministers discussed major regional issues, with a special focus on the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty briefed his Turkish counterpart on Egypt's ongoing efforts to broker a ceasefire deal, facilitate the release of hostages and detainees and ensure the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid, as well as shelters, to the Palestinian population. They also exchanged views on developments in Libya, particularly recent events in Tripoli. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's firm stance on preserving Libya's unity and territorial integrity and emphasized the importance of a purely Libyan-led political process. Fatah: Egypt Plays Central Role in Arab, Palestinian Affairs
Ahmed Emam Egypt continues to play a central and pivotal role in Arab affairs, particularly the Palestinian cause, according to Abdel Fattah Dawla, spokesperson for the Palestinian Fatah movement. Speaking from Ramallah via video link during an interview on the program "Up Close with Amal El-Hanawy," aired on Alqahera News Channel*, Dawla praised Cairo's "sincere and tireless" efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza that would spare Palestinians from what he described as an "ongoing massacre." 'This Eid al-Adha arrives while Palestinians are still being killed, and the world stands helpless in the face of this slaughter,' he said. Dawla characterized the war as a "genocide" and stressed that despite growing international demands for an end to the war, real progress remains elusive.
