DJ Akademiks' Twitch Page Reportedly Banned Amid 'Grooming' Controversy

Yahoo28-01-2025

DJ Akademiks has been reportedly banned from Twitch amid his ongoing 'grooming' controversy. Users noticed on Tuesday (Jan. 28) that his popular profile was no longer loading on the site.
Instead, a message reading, 'Sorry. Unless you've got a time machine, that content is unavailable,' pops up when trying to access the streamer's page.
After the update started gaining traction on social media, the Akademiks TV account provided an alleged explanation for the situation, claiming the figure has been 'temporarily banned on twitch for calling Adin Ross (who is permanently banned on twitch) on stream to confirm if he donated $10,000 to Kendrick Lamar cousin parents who needed hospital beds and a new wheelchair.'
However, most users weren't buying it, as the replies flooded with people doubting the reasoning. 'Sure. We believe your clown a**,' read a top-liked reply, as another person bluntly wrote, 'Bullsh*t. It's because he's a pedophile asking a 15 yr old boy if he's ready to be penetrated.' Another user even pulled up a screenshot that seemingly shows the ban is permanent.
The controversy was sparked by a video showing Akademiks engaging in a sexual conversation with a 15-year-old streamer named Nour. In the clip, the Off the Record host is heard saying to the teen, 'You're telling me there's not another 15-year-old you could buss down?' among other inappropriate comments.
After the footage made its rounds, Akademiks addressed his misconduct. 'I've done a lot of bulls**t up in this game,' he said. 'Trust me. I've got mine off. This issue aside – which, again. I am wrong. I will be better. This is a teachable moment. For me, obviously, I got to watch my speech. That's clear. […] Definitely a regrettable moment, and we're going to use it as a teachable moment. Because I don't think I've came this far, built this platform, to be that irresponsible, right?'
Although he owned up to his behavior, his foes were not satisfied and had plenty to say. Meek Mill urged parents to censor their children from viewing Ak's content.
'If [you're] a parent go get ya kids phone and block this man, he's grooming children with a very large platform that 'kids' like,' Meek, 37, tweeted after a clip of the inappropriate conversation went viral. 'Also attempts to ruin black families and black success daily, 'VILLAN IN THE VILLAGE.'' His words captioned a screenshot of him preparing to block Ak on his own phone. See the post below.

Drake and Kai Cenat's livestream set to kick off as Kendrick Lamar brings the 'Grand National Tour' to Toronto

Kai Cenat is on an unstoppable winning streak with his streams, which have secured him several A-list celebrity guests and major invitations, such as to the Grammy Awards and BET Awards. Tonight (June 12), the Twitch sensation is teaming up with one of his favorite artists, who will likely continue to help him pull in views well into the millions. Trending Luh Bri drops 'One of One' on streaming with backing from 440 Artists 15 independent Hip Hop and R&B artists that need to be on your radar Silentó breaks his silence about 30-year prison sentence Beginning at 8 p.m. EST he will be joined by Drake as the duo makes good on the promise to give 20 lucky OVO supporters the chance of a lifetime: to direct a music video for the 6 God's song 'SOMEBODY LOVES ME,' featured on his and PARTYNEXTDOOR's album Some Sexy Songs 4 U. Kai announced the special live stream in an Instagram Story, thanking countless visionaries who submitted their ideas. 'We were blown away by the creativity and thought poured into each submission,' he wrote on Wednesday (June 11). The duo originally planned to select the winners, who will receive $15,000 each, totaling $300,000, to bring their concepts to fruition that day. However, the task of reviewing all the submitted video treatments required additional time. The post continued, 'Drake and I [are] gonna go through some of the submission[s] with you guys, share some of my favorites, and some of the not-so-good ones, and let y'all know which 20 [people] are getting money to bring their treatments to life!' The rules were simple: Submit an idea for a video inspired by any 30-second to one-minute time stamp from the song by May 24. The announcement ignited an uproar of reaction on social media when countless people noticed that June 12 also marks the first of two Toronto stops on Kendrick Lamar and SZA's 'Grand National Tour.' Tonight's performance kicks off at 7 p.m., just one hour before Kai's broadcast, while the second show is set for the following day. Kendrick Lamar and Drake's lyrical feud reached a climax last summer during their lethal volley of diss records like 'Not Like Us.' That track also happens to be at the heart of a legal battle that the Compton MC's rap nemesis is battling against Universal Music Group. Now, several social media users have drawn their own conclusions about Kai and Drake's streaming event. 'It's starting to feel like a pattern. When Dot was set to perform at the Super Bowl, Drake flew off to Australia. When Kendrick's tour hit Toronto, Drake is preparing to do a Kai Cenat stream. And let's not forget, he filed a lawsuit right around the release of the GNX album,' read one tweet. Other social media users are making it clear that they're not buying into speculative theories that Drake was deploying a petty tactic amidst the ongoing feud. Regardless of anyone's true intentions, many Hip Hop fans will either be focused on enjoying Kendrick's latest performance, or they'll be tapped in to Twitch for the livestream with Drake. Jamie Foxx Emotionally Accepts Ultimate Icon Honor At 2025 BET Awards

Jamie Foxx received the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards in true legend fashion. The 57-year-old shared gratitude for the network and the 'Black award' on stage on Monday night from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, accepting the prestigious honor from Stevie Wonder. 'I cannot even begin to express the love that I feel from everybody out there,' expressed the comedian to a standing ovation. 'I gotta be honest, when I saw the In Memoriam, I was like, man, it could have been me. I don't know why I went through what I went through, but I know my second chance, I'm not gonna turn down.' He continued, 'And I promised, 'whatever reason you put this on me, I promise imma do right and imma do right in front of y'all. I know a lot of times when we get on, we forget about where we come from. When I did my special, it was in front of Black people. Black people was the one who said, 'I got you.'' The 'Unpredictable' singer continued to elaborate on his love for his Black audience and the BET network. 'I say this all the time, thank you to Black people and the Black award, because this is what really counts. A lot of people think like the Oscars is the biggest thing, and we got to quit thinking like that. And that's coming from a person who won an Oscar, I was nominated twice, but the Icon Award is the most important award because it comes from us.' Ahead of the emotional acceptance speech, Foxx's musical collaborators, peers, and more united to honor him on stage with a medley of his fan-favorite records. Craig Robinson, Teddy Riley, Babyface, Ludacris, Jennifer Hudson, Tank, and others delivered 'Unpredictable,' 'Gold Digger,' and more. Rocsi Diaz, AJ Calloway Apologize For Their Absence During ‘106 & Park' Reunion At 2025 BET Awards

Rocsi Diaz and AJ Calloway have issued a public apology for their respective absences during the highly anticipated 106 & Park reunion segment at the 2025 BET Awards. The two former hosts, who helped define the show's legacy, acknowledged the disappointment felt by fans and provided an explanation for missing the star-studded event. According to AJ, he was stuck on a flight, as Rocsi was busy embarking on one of the 'biggest stages' of her career. 'When you're on a plane and your phone blows up because you missed a huge night for the best and livest audience in the world! I'm so sorry I couldn't make it tonight I'm literally still in the air,' the original co-host posted on Instagram with a photo of him smiling. 'I tried, honestly but it didn't work out. Much love to my BET family and I know we will do something where we all can make it and hopefully let everyone who wants to join us pull up as well!' Rocsi — who hosted the show alongside Terrence J after AJ and Free — wrote, 'I'm so sorry if I let you down. Just know I tried everything possible to be a part of the 106 & Park reunion it really meant a lot to me to be there with my fellow host. 106 was by far the best thing that's ever happened to my life.' She went on to explain how the cult classic show gave her the 'tools and foundation' to become the TV host she is today. Rocsi also took a moment to thank the show's fans who have 'kept her relevant' years after her tenure. 'Your love and support has been fuel for me to keep going and keep advocating for the culture on major platforms,' she continued. Excitingly, Rocsi explained that her absence was due to a new opportunity that she considers to be 'one of the biggest stages of [her] career.' She hoped for support from fans on her new project and promised 'more details' to come, as she can't speak on it currently. 'Just know it was because of an immediate job opportunity I was unable to take part in the reunion,' she added. 'Thank you for always being there for all my jobs.' The 2025 BET Awards pulled out all the nostalgic stops to celebrate its 25th anniversary, delivering a replica of the original 106 & Park set staged inside Los Angeles' Peacock Theater. The tribute brought back fan-favorite hosts Free, Julissa Bermudez, Keshia Chanté, Big Tigger, and Terrence J to honor the iconic music countdown show. The reunion was a full-circle celebration of the show that helped define a generation. 'BET and 106 & Park created this iconic culture,' Terrence J told VIBE last month. 'A brand. A legacy. And to sit here 25 years later, trading stories and realizing how many lives were impacted, it's surreal.'
