Kamala Harris signs with top talent and sports agency CAA
Harris follows former President Joe Biden, who also signed with the agency just two weeks after leaving office. The Los Angeles-based agency boasts several other A-list names, including former President Barack Obama, Beyoncé, Brad Pitt, Ariana Grande and NBA star Devin Booker.
The agency says it will 'work closely with Harris on her post-White House initiatives' and 'expand her platform in support of the issues she has championed throughout her decades-long career in public service,' according to a statement shared with The Hill.
They will also work with Harris 'in all areas, focusing on speaking engagements and publishing.'
Harris is set to be honored with the Chairman's Award at the NAACP Image Awards later this week. The award honors those who 'excel in public service and leverage their unique platforms to ignite and drive meaningful change.' It will be her first TV appearance since leaving office.
The former Vice President's post-White House plans aren't entirely clear yet, but Harris reportedly told her advisers to keep her options open for either another presidential bid or a gubernatorial run in California after losing the election.
Harris would likely be the frontrunner if she makes a bid to lead California in 2026 as Governor Gavin Newsom's term limit approaches, according to a poll from Emerson College Polling/Inside California Politics/The Hill released last week.
Some 57 percent of Democratic respondents said they would support her bid, streets ahead of former Representative Katie Porter who was backed by nine percent of those asked.
But Harris hasn't confirmed any plans to run for office again, deflecting questions about it when asked earlier this year.
'I have been home for two weeks and three days,' Harris told reporters while visiting California communities impacted by the recent wildfires. 'My plans are to be in touch with my community, to be in touch with the leaders and figure out what I can do to support them.'
When Biden re-signed with the agency after working with them from 2017 to 2020, CAA co-chairman Richard Lovett said the team is 'profoundly honored to partner with him again.'
'President Biden is one of America's most respected and influential voices in national and global affairs,' Lovett said in a statement.
'His lifelong commitment to public service is one of unity, optimism, dignity, and possibility,' he added.
The agency worked with Biden as he published Promise Me, Dad, a 2017 bestseller recounting the loss of his son Beau Biden to cancer.
President Donald Trump mocked his predecessor when asked for his reaction to the news earlier this month.
'You got to be kidding," Trump said, adding that Biden has 'much bigger problems than that.'

Irish leaders welcome clarity on EU-US trade deal and pharma tariffs cap of 15%
Taoiseach Micheal Martin said the trade agreement represented a 'significant win' for the EU while Tanaiste Simon Harris said it offered an 'important shield' for Irish exporters. The EU struck a trade deal with the US on July 27, five days before Mr Trump said a 30% tariff would kick in for the bloc. The deal sees 15% tariffs on most EU goods including cars, semiconductors and pharmaceuticals entering the US. There are 'zero for zero' tariffs on a number of products including aircrafts and aircraft parts, some agricultural goods and certain chemicals – as well as EU purchases of US energy worth 750 billion dollars over three years. In the aftermath of the deal, it was not clear whether 15% would remain the rate for the pharma sector or be increased. The EU-US statement published on Thursday said that as of September 1, the US will apply a maximum tariff rate of 15% on generic pharmaceuticals, their ingredients and chemical precursors. 'The United States intends to promptly ensure that the tariff rate, comprised of the MFN (Most Favored Nation) tariff and the tariff imposed pursuant to Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, applied to originating goods of the European Union subject to Section 232 actions on pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and lumber does not exceed 15%.' Mr Harris, Ireland's deputy premier and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, welcomed the assurances for the pharmaceutical and semiconductor sectors. 'We welcome clarity that the deal includes a single, all-inclusive 15% tariff on EU goods,' Mr Harris said. 'We also now have assurance that this rate will extend to pharmaceuticals and semiconductors. 'This provides an important shield to Irish exporters that could have been subject to much larger tariffs pending the outcomes of Section 232 US investigations into these sectors.' Mr Harris said this offered a 'first step' to a more 'comprehensive and formal agreement with the US in the future'. 'Our intention now is to see what other carve outs can be made in areas of interest for Irish exporters.' Irish premier Micheal Martin said the statement brought 'greater clarity and certainty' to what the EU-US agreement would mean in practice. 'This is especially important for enterprises that either import from or export to the US,' he said. 'Given the scale of the pharmaceutical and semiconductor sectors in Ireland, it is important that the Joint Statement confirms that 15% is a ceiling that will apply to EU exports in these areas in all circumstances, including when the current US Section 232 investigations are concluded. 'While I have been clear all along that I do not support tariffs, this is a significant win for the EU. 'Given the significance of the airline sector to Ireland, a specific carve-out for aircraft and aircraft parts is also welcome. 'There are areas where further work remains to be done, including a potential carve-out for med-tech products and spirits. 'I hope this will be advanced as quickly as possible. We will continue to advocate for these sectors given their significant importance to our domestic economy.' Paul Sweetman, chief executive of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, welcomed the joint statement as providing 'greater clarity to business on the future of the transatlantic trading partnership, worth over four billion dollars daily'. 'The framework brings more certainty and allows for further work to grow our mutually beneficial economic relationship,' he said. 'In supporting the US-Ireland and US-EU trading relationships into the future, we must also focus on enhancing competitiveness. 'Now is the time to make smart policy and investment decisions to deliver critical infrastructure projects, meet future skills needs, bolster our RD&I ecosystem, and secure Ireland's position as a digital regulatory hub. 'AmCham will continue to work closely with the Irish Government, the US administration and our EU and US partners in growing investment on both sides of the Atlantic.'

Joe Biden's most defiant spokesperson trolled after admitting he only met the ex-president twice
Joe Biden 's presidential spokesperson only met with his boss twice in person during his entire White House tenure, a top Republican investigating the former president and his staff claims. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., conducted a private transcribed interview with Ian Sams, a former Biden spokesman, on Thursday. The closed-door interview which ran multiple hours was the latest step in the panel's investigation into the alleged cover-up of Biden's cognitive decline and unauthorized executive actions using an autopen to sign for the president. The GOP-led committee has issued subpoenas to former Biden aides to determine if the president was capable of carrying out key functions of his job. But the spokesperson had little to offer in terms of face-to-face interaction with the commander-in-chief. 'I think one of the most shocking things to me is…he communicated with Joe Biden two times,' Comer told reporters of Sams' testimony. 'Yet he would, every day, tweet and issue statements from the podium of the White House, combating everything that we were doing in the Oversight Committee with respect to the investigation,' he added. Despite his extremely limited personal interactions with the former president, Sams viciously fought back against a February 2024 Justice Department report claiming Biden had diminished mental abilities and a poor memory, calling it 'wrong' and 'inaccurate.' Around the time the bombshell report was published, the left-wing communicator would regularly appear on CNN and MSNBC to bash claims that his boss was declining cognitively. The special counsel report, written by Robert Hur, probed whether Biden illegally handled classified documents, which were found at his Delaware home and various offices. Hur opted against charging Biden with a crime, writing in the final report that Mr. Biden came off 'as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.' Sams pushed back on the characterization repeatedly and argued that Biden gave 'very clear and detailed testimony' to the special counsel. According to the Oversight Committee, however, the former spokesperson could only recall two in-person meetings, one virtual meeting and one phone call he had with Biden, meaning Sams' experience with the president and his recall were limited. 'In fact, Robert Hur spent more time with Joe Biden than Ian Sams,' Comer told reporters. 'Ian Sams is the one that would counter everything Robert Hur or anytime anyone would suggest that Joe Biden wasn't mentally fit. He would say no, he's at the top of his game,' Comer added. The Republican chairman even mentioned that he got more face time with Biden than Sams, noting how he flew on Air Force One with the Democratic president, unlike the former spokesman. As scrutiny over the former president's cognition exploded following Biden's dreadful debate performance against Donald Trump, Sams defended Biden. He insisted during a July 2, 2024 interview on MSNBC that the president is 'sharp' and asking 'tough questions.' Sams, unlike other ex-Biden staffers, was not subpoenaed and appeared of his own volition and cooperated with the committee, Comer shared. Biden's senior advisors Annie Tomasini and Anthony Bernal, along with ex-White House doctor Kevin O'Connor, were all forced to testify after being subpoenaed. All three of them pleaded their pleaded the Fifth Amendment protections. Comer has released some video of their testimony where they repeat the same legal jargon when asked questions about the 82-year-old former president. Andrew Bates, former senior deputy press secretary, is scheduled to testify before the committee on September 5.

Jake Paul issues chilling warning to Anthony Joshua as he confirms shock next fight vs Gervonta Davis
JAKE PAUL has issued a chilling warning to Anthony Joshua after the confirmation of his shock showdown with Gervonta Davis. The YouTuber-turned-boxer's long-rumoured exhibition with the controversial Davis was accidentally leaked on Wednesday before being officially announced by Netflix. 5 5 Paul's November 14 punch-up with the WBA lightweight champion, who he'll dwarf in size and weight, came on the back of very real conversations over a shock showdown with AJ. And ' The Problem Child ' had a message for the former two-time unified heavyweight champion after confirming his freakshow bout with 'Tank'. The 28-year-old said in a statement to ESPN: "Gervonta is an angry little elf who has been disrespecting my name for too long. "His nickname might be 'Tank', but I'm an FPV drone and I'm about to disable his a**. "Yes, he is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. "And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath. "And you are all going to watch me do it, breaking viewership records again. "Atlanta. Friday, Nov 14th. The worst night of Gervonta's career, live only on Netflix." 5 Brit bruiser Joshua has remained silent on the prospect of fighting Paul and has yet to comment on the former Disney star's cash with Davis. Paul fighting Davis has cleared the way for Joshua to finally share the ring with long-time rival Tyson Fury. Tommy Fury makes bombshell claim Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul could be fixed and makes fight prediction But Fury continues to flip-flop on the prospect of returning to the ring, telling Sky Sports earlier this month when asked if he'd return to the ring: "Never. Really! "[I'm] too old, look at my beard, all grey. Boxing 's a young man's game." 5 Joshua, 36, hasn't set foot inside the ring since his devastating fifth-round KO loss to Daniel Dubois last September. He underwent surgery on a niggling elbow injury in May and is expected to lace up his gloves again by the end of the year.
