Amaal Mallik's Father On Son's Breakup Over 'Islamic Background': 'I Know Your Pain'
Amaal Mallik revisits heartbreak over interfaith relationship; father Daboo Malik responds with emotional support on Instagram.
Music director and singer Amaal Mallik recently revisited a painful chapter from his past, recalling a breakup in 2019 that ended due to religious differences. The emotional post, shared by SCREEN on Instagram, included reflections on his personal and professional struggles during the time he was working on Kabir Singh.
His father, musician Daboo Malik, responded to the post with a message of love and support. He wrote, 'Son … Remember Your Father is always there … I know your pain and I love you to eternity … there can be none like you … ❤️❤️".

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Amaal shared a particularly difficult period of his life when he was in a relationship that did not culminate into anything. Their relationship spanned from 2014 to 2019, but Amaal revealed that her parents were never on board — objecting to both his Muslim heritage and his connection to the film industry. He said, 'They didn't want their daughter to be associated with someone from Bollywood. They were Jaats and said, 'You're from an Islamic background.' I was like, there's not even an 'I' of Islam in me."
Amaal, whose father is Muslim and mother is a Saraswat Brahmin Hindu, clarified that his family has always believed in spirituality over strict religious dogma. 'We go to Mt Mary when we feel empty. We believe in God but we don't fear God. There's no 'kattar' anything in us. In fact, their problem was more with the industry than religion."
What stung more, however, was the prejudice. 'To be judged based on my surname or the fact that I'm part of Bollywood — I knew then that these were not my kind of people. I need broad-minded people. I don't think our relationship would have worked in the long run."
Amaal Mallik recently sparked a wave of reactions online after sharing that he had emotionally stepped away from his family.

Saina Nehwal announces divorce from husband Parupalli Kashyap after 7 years of marriage: 'Grateful for the memories ...'
On July 13, renowned Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal revealed her decision to separate from her husband, Parupalli Kashyap , bringing an end to their marriage of nearly seven years. The news was shared via her Instagram profile, where she posted a brief and heartfelt message announcing the mutual decision to go their separate ways. "Life takes us in different directions sometimes. After much thought and consideration, Kashyap Parupalli and I have decided to part ways. We're choosing peace, growth, and healing-for ourselves and each other. I'm grateful for the memories and wish nothing but the best moving forward. Thank you for understanding and respecting our privacy during this time," wrote the badminton sensation on Instagram. Both Saina and Kashyap began their badminton journeys at the prestigious Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad. They grew up training together, gradually building their identities in the sport. Saina emerged as a global figure in Indian badminton, capturing an Olympic bronze medal and rising to the world number one ranking. Kashyap, too, earned significant acclaim, highlighted by his gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and consistent performances on international platforms. The pair formalized their relationship with marriage in 2018, after more than ten years of companionship and shared sporting goals. Parupalli eventually retired from professional play and shifted his focus to coaching. In a notable transition, he began mentoring Saina during the final phase of her competitive career. This role reversal—from fellow competitor and sparring partner to coach and advisor—reflected the strength and understanding within their bond. During his time as her coach, Kashyap played a key role in Saina's attempts to return to form following a string of injuries that had impacted her after the 2016 season. Though her comeback met with mixed outcomes, Saina's resilience remained unshaken. A standout moment came in 2019 when she triumphed over a strong PV Sindhu at the National Championships, with Kashyap guiding her from the sidelines. His presence was constant, especially at domestic matches and international qualifiers, where he provided strategic insights and emotional encouragement. Their relationship had long blended professional synergy with personal connection. Before becoming life partners, they were close friends and training companions for many years. Their wedding in 2018 was a private celebration of a bond forged on and off the court. Despite the recent announcement of their split, Saina expressed gratitude for the years they spent together and emphasized that the decision was made with maturity and respect. She highlighted the importance of personal growth and emotional healing, and appealed for privacy during this transitional phase. As of now, Parupalli Kashyap has not publicly commented on the separation. Their story, filled with shared victories and mutual support, remains a unique chapter in the history of Indian sports.

"Lot of anxiety": Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's sister opens up about ‘anxiety' and heartbreak as she finally gets married after the tragic loss of both brothers
Katie Gaudreau with her brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. (Katie Gaudreau via Instagram) Nearly a year after the tragic loss of her beloved brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, Katie Gaudreau found a way to turn heartbreak into a tribute of love, resilience, and memory. On July 11, she finally walked down the aisle to marry her longtime partner, Devin Joyce — a moment that had once been filled with anticipation but became a symbol of strength following unimaginable grief. Katie Gaudreau walks down the aisle after postponing wedding due to brothers' deaths Originally planned for August 30, 2024, the wedding was postponed after the sudden death of Johnny and Matthew, who were struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver while cycling in their New Jersey hometown. Both brothers were slated to be groomsmen. Their loss devastated not only their family but also the hockey community — Johnny had been a standout for the Columbus Blue Jackets, while Matthew built his career across leagues including Boston College, the AHL, and ECHL. Despite the overwhelming sorrow, Katie and Devin, who first met in high school and got engaged in May 2023, chose to embrace love and healing. 'And I know, deep in my heart, that they would have wanted us to feel love — not just their love — but all of it: the kind that surrounds us, uplifts us and reminds us that we are not alone in any of this,' Katie told People. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giá vàng đang tăng mạnh trong năm 2025 — Các nhà giao dịch thông minh đã tham gia IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Her wedding became a poignant blend of celebration and remembrance. From her veil stitched with personal messages in her brothers' handwriting — 'Love you — Matty' and 'Love ya — John' — to socks worn by groomsmen bearing Johnny and Matthew's jersey numbers (13 and 21), every detail was intentional. A moving video montage of the brothers' joyful moments played during the reception to the tune of 'Mr. Brightside,' a favorite of Katie's. Planning the ceremony wasn't easy. Katie admitted that the venue had to be changed to a more comforting environment. 'I wanted a space where we could all be together the night before — somewhere we could sleep over, wake up together, and just be, without having to leave or be separated. I was having a lot of anxiety about everyone leaving the venue after the reception and something happening, so I wanted a space where we would all be together. ' she said, reflecting on her fears of being separated from loved ones again. Her bouquet, too, told a story — arranged with 21 standard roses and 13 spray rose blooms in honor of the Gaudreau brothers' hockey numbers. Even her father, Guy Gaudreau, and Devin wore suits lined with photos of Johnny and Matthew — keeping their presence tangible in the most meaningful way. 'It's hard to put into words how much has shifted and how much I've carried in my heart since last August,' Katie shared. But through sorrow, she created a wedding day that radiated the very love her brothers once shared: 'Their love didn't leave.'
