Land Rover Unveils its 2026 Defender Line-Up

Hypebeast04-07-2025
Jaguar Land Rover(JLR) has updated itsDefenderline-up for the 2026 model year, announcing upgrades to the design and technology found across its 90, 110, 130 andOCTAmodels that make the Defender 'more distinctive and ready for adventure than ever.'
From new finishes to new features, the entire 2026 Defender family has seen subtle changes including newly designed headlights and fog lights, and flush-fitting rear lights that have received a smoked lens treatment – and, according to JLR , there is 'signature detailing' throughout. Further upgrades to the cars' exteriors include 'optimized' surfaces on the front and rear bumpers, and both the bonnet inserts and side vents have received a new textured pattern that the brand claims creates 'a strong and adventurous look.' All 2026 models will also come with the new Defender-branded wheel caps in 'Gloss Black' – as well as a grille-bar in the same color – as standard.
The color palette across the Defender range has also been refreshed and JLR has introduced two new colors, 'Woolstone Green' and 'Borasco Grey,' that compliment both the existing fleet and the other aesthetic changes the brand has implemented. Buyers can choose to splash one of these new hues across the main exterior of their chosen car, or reserve for detailing.
Inside, the cars now feature a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen and an ergonomically repositioned dash-mounted gear shifter. While the changes are subtle, the brand claims its new display 'provides even more intuitive control for infotainment' and says that its 'latest centre console design allows clients to make the most of the space on offer.'
The 2026 model year Defender is also being offered with Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control for the first time, which JLR is making available as an optional feature, saying that it 'automatically adjusts the speed to maintain the desired level of comfort over undulating surfaces, for unruffled off-road driving.' This technology lets the driver lock in a preferred comfort level while negotiating off-road, which in turn allows them to focus purely on steering, and it adjusts the speed automatically to maintain the driver's preferred selection when moving over undulating surfaces. The brand has even introduced a feature known as 'Driver Attention Monitor,' which uses a driver-facing camera to monitor the gaze of whoever is behind the wheel and provides 'audio-visual alerts to help ensure they are paying attention to the road ahead' – if this puts you off, JLR says it can be 'adjusted, enabled or disabled.'
Model-specific updates include an optional integrated air compressor that can be had with the Defender 130, allowing users to easily adjust tire pressures while out and about. Additionally, the Defender OCTA's is getting a new 'Textured Graphite' finish on the outside, which the brand says gives it an 'even more rugged appearance.' The OCTA will also have the option of 'Chopped Carbon Fibre' details to both the interior and exterior, as well as several other optional touches to improve – and customize – your aesthetic.

(TSX: DOO) (NASDAQ: DOOO), is changing the utility and recreational side-by-side landscape with the next generation of its Can-Am Defender model. Trusted by farmers, ranchers and riders across the world, the Defender is renowned for its power and skill to turn work and play into one. For 2026, this iconic workhorse receives a ground-up overhaul, further solidifying its position as one of the most capable, versatile and reliable utility-recreational side-by-sides on the market. "At Can-Am, we know that the clock never stops for the farmers, ranchers and builders around the world," said Julie Tourville, Director, Global Marketing, Can-Am Off-Road at BRP. "This new Defender platform is built to prove it and match the unstoppable spirit of our hardworking customers. From managing farmland, to running a job site, or escaping to the backcountry, the new generation Defender is all about bringing true value to our riders with practical and best-in-class features, industry-leading technology and reliable performance that they can count on to help them get the job done and beyond." PowertrainAt the core of the next-generation Can-Am Defender is an all-new HD11 999cc inline three-cylinder Rotax ACE engine, boasting 95 horsepower and 70 lb-ft of torque. The HD11 powerplant is paired with an all-new continuously variable transmission (CVT) and pDrive primary clutch that are designed to put power to the ground with precision and improve low-speed power delivery, while enhancing reliability. With three new selectable drive modes – Normal, Work and Sport – the engine optimizes performance for the toughest tasks, from towing heavy loads to conquering some of the most demanding terrains. A new intake system promotes airflow to bolster engine performance, while an updated cooling system manages engine temperature and enhances HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) performance. The 2026 Defender XT packages are equipped with a new Quick-4Lok auto-locking front differential, while the Limited, Lone Star and X mr packages carry the automatic, electronically controlled Smart-Lok front differential to maximize traction in most conditions. The new Defender continues to lead the way with best-in-class payload, towing and cargo capacity, and it now comes equipped with a new, larger 11.9-gallon fuel tank that enables longer days on the job or trail. Suspension and ChassisA best-in-class powertrain demands a suspension package and chassis that are up to the task. The 2026 Defender features new suspension geometry with a 65-inch-wide design and 50% larger arched double A-arms. The suspension and steering components are more robust and are assembled with double-bonded bushings, an industry first, for reduced maintenance and a quieter ride. The chassis has also been toughened up for the most demanding work and play scenarios, including improved ROPS. These changes not only increase toughness but also deliver sharper, more stable handling and advanced suspension performance even when the vehicle is loaded down with tools and gear. The Defender features 12 inches of front and rear suspension travel with 15 inches of ground clearance, which are best in class. The turning radius has also been reduced, making tight maneuvers easier than ever. Finally, the new, larger 262mm front brake rotors are gripped by 32mm hydraulic twin piston calipers and new brake pads, providing confidence-inspiring stopping power, even under heavy loads. Workability and Rider ExperienceWorking harder and smarter than ever before, the 2026 Defender offers comfort when riders want it and next-level capability when they need it. The ergonomics start with the largest cab in its class and 8% more leg room than the closest competition. Plus, the adjustable quick tilt steering wheel allows for convenient ingress and egress, while the backrest angle and seat foam have been revised for greater comfort and support. The new Defender Limited and Lone Star packages are equipped with an updated HVAC system, improving cooling and heating capacity. A simple three-knob system provides convenient climate control adjustment. CAB models also benefit from noise, vibration and harshness reduction for better communication with passengers thanks to a new roof liner, rear wall insulation and floor mats. Designed to take the rider experience to the next level, the new 10.25'' Touchscreen Display packs a range of useful features, including a back-up camera and built-in GPS to track every ride and locate friends with or without a phone or network connection. This infotainment system also lets riders seamlessly control music, monitor ride statistics, manage accessories and unlock advanced off-road navigation features through the BRP GO! app. With integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, it supports over-the-air software updates, so owners can effortlessly access the latest features as they become available. The 10.25'' Touchscreen Display comes standard on all Limited and Lone Star models, and it's available as an option on the XT and XT CAB. With over 200 accessories available to choose from, riders can customize their Defender to best suit their riding style and work needs. From convenient LinQ cargo boxes, to the new integrated plow mount and intuitive SMART accessories, this workhorse is a blank canvas ready for personalization. When it comes to outfitting the 2026 Defender with electronic accessories or powering tools and equipment, the new charging system produces 1700 Watts, doubling the output of the previous generation. To enhance the rider's line of sight in low-light conditions, the 2026 Defender features new LED headlights that produce 45% more output than the previous version. In addition, new LED rear lights include backup lights that turn on while in reverse. Designed with the rider in mind, the new Defender offers convenient access to service points, and it has some of the longest service intervals and lowest maintenance costs in the industry. This means less downtime for repairs and more time on the trail or taking on tough jobs. Vehicle LineupThe 2026 Defender HD11 has six distinct model configurations: the Defender XT, Defender XT CAB, Defender X mr, Defender Limited, Defender Lone Star and Defender Lone Star CAB. These configurations are offered in standard (3-seat), except for the Lone Star, and MAX (six-seat) variations for each of them. Defender HD7, HD9 and HD10 models also return for 2026. ‘Pregnancy robots' could give birth to human children in revolutionary breakthrough — and a game-changer for infertile couples

There's a robot for that. What a time to be alive — people are marrying AI bots, and now robots might soon be able to carry babies. Reportedly, China is working on designing a bot with an artificial womb — which will receive nutrients through a hose — in its abdomen that will soon be able to carry a fetus for approximately 10 months before giving birth, according to Chosun Biz. This will be a game changer for infertile couples, if all goes according to plan. globalmoments – The 'pregnancy robot' was conceptualized by Dr. Zhang Qifeng, founder of Kaiwa Technology, which is based in Guangzhou — a city in China. If all goes according to plan, the prototype will make its debut next year. For those struggling to conceive, hiring a humanoid to carry their baby will cost 100,000 yuan, $13,927.09 — a price significantly less than a human surrogate, which can cost someone in the US anywhere from $100,000 to $200,000. 'The artificial womb technology is already in a mature stage, and now it needs to be implanted in the robot's abdomen so that a real person and the robot can interact to achieve pregnancy, allowing the fetus to grow inside,' Qifeng told Chosun Biz. Many questions are still unanswered at this time, including how the egg and sperm will be fertilized and inserted into the womb and how the bot will give birth. The artificial womb will reportedly receive nutrients through a hose. H_Ko – Obviously, with this sort of technology comes a lot of questions and concerns regarding ethical and legal issues. 'We have held discussion forums with authorities in Guangdong Province and submitted related proposals while discussing policy and legislation,' the doctor said, addressing people's uneasiness towards this. Speaking of freaky bots — a humanoid was spotted walking around Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan earlier this month, doing everything from grabbing a hot dog to trying on sneakers. The intent behind this shocking scene of the KOID-branded bot acting like a human New Yorker was to promote global asset management firm KraneShares's Global Humanoid and Embodied Intelligence Index ETF, which came out earlier this summer. 'I feel like I was witnessing firsthand . . . the first lightbulb or the first car,' said Joseph Dube, head of marketing at KraneShares. 'People were amazed. Some people were terrified. It was a major mixed bag of reactions.'
