Bachok police: Woman arrested over acid attack that left Kelantan spa owner severely burned
KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Police have arrested a woman believed to be linked to an acid attack on a spa owner in Beris Kubur Besar, Bachok, which left the victim with serious burns.
According to The New Straits Times, the suspect was detained at around 10pm yesterday in Kuala Krai and is expected to be brought to the Bachok Magistrates' Court this morning for a remand application.
Confirming the arrest, Bachok district police chief Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin declined to comment further, saying a full statement would be issued by Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat in due course.
The victim, 27-year-old Nor Faziera Muda, was attacked by three individuals — two women and a man — last Saturday while she was opening her salon for a scheduled massage appointment. She was accompanied by her young son at the time.
The attack took place at about 7.20pm near a convenience store in Tawang, where an unidentified individual splashed her with a corrosive liquid before fleeing the scene.
She suffered severe burns to her shoulder, back, arms and legs, and underwent a six-hour surgery.
Nor Faziera is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at the Burns Unit of Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian.
Police are also looking into the victim's claim that acid had previously been poured outside her premises as a form of intimidation, although no official report was lodged about that incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, an offence that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, along with whipping or a fine.

Perak police chief Noor Hisam Nordin said investigators have received the footage from the owner of the car, whose statement will be taken soon, Harian Metro reported. 'The recording clearly shows how the bus was speeding. What made matters worse was when a road barrier penetrated the front of the bus after it toppled over. 'That is why passengers seated on the left side of the bus were among those who lost their lives, because the barrier penetrated all the way to the passenger seats. 'We leave it to our investigating officers to go through the recording and take the owner's statement,' said Noor Hisam. He added that the statements of survivors would also be taken, after several of the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students claimed the bus was speeding before the crash. He said the site of the crash was a downhill stretch of a hilly road and that the accident occurred around midnight after some rain. 'Based on my observation, there were no clear road markings and the area is very dark. We're still probing whether the cause of the crash was due to negligence or technical issues.' Noor Hisam also said most of the survivors were found in a drain next to the barrier, while the bodies of most of those killed were still in the bus after the crash. A total of 15 UPSI students died from the crash on the Gerik-Jeli East West Highway, near Tasik Banding. The bus was carrying 42 students, the bus driver and his assistant. A couple, along with their six-year-old daughter and three-year-old son, were travelling in a Perodua Alza the bus collided with.

According to Amira, she will record her statement under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act following an order from the Papar district police in Sabah. As long as I can, I will continue to move forward with this struggle.' On the night of May 25, some 60 protesters marched to Dataran Merdeka to protest Azam's third-term extension as MACC chief. Bus driver in Gerik fatal crash had 18 traffic summonses, say cops

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Police revealed that the bus driver involved in the crash that killed 15 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) yesterday had a record of 18 traffic summonses. Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department director Yusri Hassan Basri said 13 of the summonses were for speeding, three for not wearing a seatbelt, one for not having a third brake light, and another for involvement in a previous accident, Sinar Harian reported. Earlier, Yusri announced that a special task force would be formed to investigate the crash. It will comprise the police, the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research, the road transport department, the Land Public Transport Agency, and other relevant bodies. 'We will complete the investigation papers as soon as possible. Our investigation will be thorough and cover all aspects, including the driver's past offences, background, activities and career history,' he said. Fifteen UPSI students were killed when the bus travelling from Jertih, Terengganu, to the university's campus in Tanjung Malim, Perak, crashed into the rear of a Perodua Alza, veered off the road, and overturned along the East-West Highway near Tasik Banding early yesterday morning.
