A Campaign Emerges For An ‘Andor'-Sourced Wonder Woman
Andor has finally started airing its second season after several years, and with it comes the return of all its fan-favorite characters, including Adria Arjona's Bix Caleen.
Arjona's Bix made headlines this past week as she fought off (content warning) a sexual assault by an Imperial officer, with the first time the word 'rape' appears to been uttered in Star Wars history. Some say this is a sign of Andor continuing to tackle tough issues the rest of Star Wars doesn't, and others think that shouldn't be a topic touched on in Star Wars at all, ever.
But now that Andor has returned and Arjona is back in the conversation, we're seeing a new movement that says that she should be cast as the DCU's Wonder Woman, to the point where she's been asked about it, and recently told CinemaBlend:
She's referring to The Belko Experiment, the 2016 thriller that was written by James Gunn. But this is sort of the point. In addition to simply…looking like a potential Wonder Woman, she already has a connection to James Gunn, who has been known to cast actors through such personal connections. She is also dating Jason Momoa, who is already suiting up to play Lobo in the upcoming DCU Supergirl movie, with more planned past that, most likely.

It's often said that fancasting doesn't work, but it's already worked once in the DCU for a major Justice League role. That would be the case of Aaron Pierre, who starred in the excellent Rebel Ridge on Netflix, which caused many to say he seemed like a perfect John Stewart. A month later, after a series of auditions, he was cast in Green Lantern and is about to star in his own HBO show.
I've seen some pushback about Adria Arjona not being Greek (she was born in Puerto Rico), but the last two major Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot and the famed Lynda Carter, were not either. I don't think this is going to be a necessary consideration.
The one catch for all of this is…is the DCU even casting a Wonder Woman any time remotely soon? None of the upcoming projects we know about seem to be including Wonder Woman. There is supposed to be a show called Paradise Lost set in Themyscira planned in the DCU, but it would take place before Wonder Woman existed as a hero. So the DCU simply may not need a Wonder Woman for a long while, whether Arjona is great for the part or not.

They came to the Miami Beach Convention Center wearing painted faces and homemade masks, complicated headpieces and gravity-defying shoes, lugging swords crafted not from steel but from foam, glue and sheer determination. They came as video game villains and big-screen superheroes, anime princesses and obscure creatures from other worlds. Professor Dumbledore from the 'Harry Potter' series was there. So were Nick Fury from the Marvel Universe and the ever-green Elphaba from 'Wicked' and pretty much every 'Star Wars' character from Greedo to the Emperor and R2D2, too. The annual Florida Supercon drew thousands of cosplayers to the three-day event for panels, games, photo ops, dance parties and autograph signings from stars like Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye from the Marvel Universe); John Boyega (from the 'Star Wars' franchise); and Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston ('Doctor Who'). Look in one direction and you might spot Poison Ivy. Look the other way and Doctor Who appears, waving a sonic screwdriver. You could barely turn around without tripping over a character from 'One Piece.' And the ultracreepy Pyramid Head from the 'Silent Hill' horror video game inspired more than a few costumes — and probably a few nightmares as well. Forget 'Superman' — 'Wonder Woman' lassos 'Supergirl' screenwriter to pen 'Wonder Woman' reboot for DC studios
With James Gunn's "Superman" dominating at the box office, all eyes are on what the revamped DCU has next. Now, DC Studios has hired playwright, actress, and "Supergirl" screenwriter Ana Nogueira to write its new redo of "Wonder Woman," The Wrap reports. The news comes as "Superman" soars past $409 million at the global box office in just two weekends, the kind of blockbuster success comic book movies haven't seen at the box office since pre-Covid days. Nogueira, who previously starred in "The Michael J. Fox Show," "The Vampire Diaries" and "Hightown," is quickly becoming one of DC's go-to hitters. She's also reportedly set to write a live-action take of Teen Titans for the Gunn- and Peter Safran-run Warner Bros label. "Supergirl," which debuts in theaters on June 26, 2026, will be her first produced screenplay, and it's being adapted from the graphic novel 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.' Wonder Woman's place in the new DCU (Image credit: Warner Bros. Discovery) Rebooting Wonder Woman has emerged as a top priority for the studio. Earlier this month, Variety reported that DC is fast-tracking the film, and Gunn told Entertainment Weekly in June that a new "Wonder Woman" movie is "being written right now." DC Studios is also reportedly working on a "Paradise Island" TV series for HBO set on Wonder Woman's home of Themyscira. Gal Gadot first brought the Princess of Themyscira to the big screen in director Patty Jenkins' 2017 film "Wonder Woman," which earned $822 million worldwide and challenged industry assumptions that female-led superhero movies didn't have as much pull among audiences as their male counterparts. Gadot and Jenkins reunited for "Wonder Woman 1984," which premiered on Christmas Day in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. It's not clear what role Wonder Woman will play now that Gunn and Safran have rebooted the DC universe.
