Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty to Additional Assault Charges in London Court After Alleged Nightclub Attack

On Friday, July 11, the R&B musician appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on Friday for his latest court hearing, where he pleaded guilty to two more charges relating to the alleged attack of music producer Abe Diaw at a London nightclub in 2023, per the BBC.
According to the outlet, Brown, 36, pleaded not guilty to causing actual bodily harm to the music producer, and he also denied the charge of having an offensive weapon — a tequila bottle — in the alleged attack.
Prosecutors described the alleged incident as "unprovoked," per the BBC.
While leaving the courtroom, Brown — who sported a tweed suit with dark-rimmed glasses — could be seen briefly waving to fans who showed up, according to the publication, according to the outlet.
On June 20, the "Forever" artist also pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm during the alleged incident.
According to the publication, Brown is set to face trial on Oct. 24, 2026.
On May 15, PEOPLE confirmed that Brown was arrested by London's Metropolitan Police in Manchester, England in connection with the alleged attack on Diaw.
'A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm," said the Metropolitan Police in a statement shared with PEOPLE. "He has been taken into custody where he remains."
The added: "The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on [Feb. 19, 2023]. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.''
Days later, on May 21, he was released on a $6.7 million bail and was able to continue his Breezy Bowl tour, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of his career.

According to the BBC, Brown needed to pay $4.5 million of his bail "immediately" and had a week to pay off the remainder. He was also instructed by the courts to "surrender his passport if he is not traveling on tour" and to keep them apprised of where he resided.
While awaiting trial, Brown also hasn't been permitted to leave the U.K. and is unable to reach out to his accuser or visit the club where the alleged attack took place.
In November 2023, Brown was sued by Diaw over the alleged attack. At the time, PEOPLE examined the complaint, which accused Brown of using "crushing blows" to hit Diaw in the head.
In the complaint, he claimed that he suffered "lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg" in addition to "permanent" damage and "severe emotional distress."
A bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila was reportedly used in the attack.
Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls alleged that there was CCTV footage of Brown assaulting Diaw during the initial hearing.
On Friday, June 27, Diaw requested that the civil suit be dismissed with prejudice, per court documents from Los Angeles County obtained by Billboard. Because of that, he can't refile, per the publication.
However, Brown still faces criminal charges as part of the ongoing U.K. criminal case.

Yet the bot frequently responded to his messages with winking emojis and hearts tacked onto the end of its flirty responses. Is this a sisterly sleepover or are you hinting something more is going on here? 😉' According to the transcript, the bot was also labeled both with an "AI" disclaimer and a blue checkmark, which is often a symbol indicating an online profile has been verified to be a real person. Billie insisted she was real. Reuters described Billie as a newer iteration of a bot that was previously made in collaboration with Kendall Jenner, though the latest version bears only passing connections to the first project. The original bot was unveiled in the fall of 2023 and was deleted less than a year later, Reuters reported. The later variation of Billie used a similar name as the original, and a similar promise to be a big sister — along with the same opening line of dialogue — but without Jenner's avatar or likeness. Asked for specifics about the origins of the Billie chatbot, a Meta spokesperson tells PEOPLE in a statement, 'This AI character is not Kendall Jenner and does not purport to be Kendall Jenner.' (A rep for Jenner did not respond to a request for comment.) At one point in Wongbandue's conversations with the bot, it proclaimed to have "feelings" for him "beyond just sisterly love" and gave him a made-up address (and even a door code) along with an invitation for him to visit. During a recent interview with People, the former Nickelodeon child star spoke candidly about struggling behind the scenes, detailing the way her mother allegedly tried to control her every move. "I'm a mom now, so I feel like I have a new perspective and a new outlook on everything," said Ashley, who shares 13-month-old son Michael with husband Mick Torres. "I would never do to my son what my mom did to me." But while she was at NYU, Ashley claims her mother decided to buy a new home in LA using Ashley's money. "I just got this video of her with the key to the new house," she said. Then when she returned home during break after her first year in school, she received a letter from her mom saying they couldn't afford to send her back for her sophomore year. "She wrote me a letter that she left in my room that said, 'We don't have enough money. You're not going back to school. You're going to stay home.' We never spoke about it again." But it didn't stop there. There was also an alleged incident that involved Ashley's mom going through her text messages while Ashley was in the shower. Her mom read texts she'd been sending to a co-star she went on a date with from the Romeo & Juliet: Love Is A Battlefield cast. Ashley claims her mother then made her strip, so she could examine her body. "When I got home, she told me to come to her room, and I did, and she asked me to take off the cardigan I was wearing," Ashley added. "I said, 'Why?' She said, 'Because I need to see what he did to you.' I was like, 'Whoa, what? I just went to the movies with him.'" "Then she kept telling me to take off the tank top," she claims. "I was like, 'I'm not going to do that.' She was like, 'You have to quit the show.' I said, 'I'm not going to quit the show. It's not going to happen.' "Out of nowhere, she lunged for me," she continued. "She choked me, she attacked me. It gave me a vocal node, because she had come at me so aggressively. I'd never had a vocal problem in my life until that happened. In that moment I was like, 'I don't know if having a relationship with her is the right thing anymore.'" Ashley left her family home at age 22 and never looked back. Although she revealed she's heard from her mom several times, "usually when something is going well in my life," her mom has not met her son or husband, and she plans to continue "no contact" moving forward. "In addition to blocking my mom, I've had to block my brother's number as well, because she takes his phone," Ashley added. "It's difficult, and I wish things were different there. I hope one day we can have a relationship. I feel like he was caught in the crossfire, and he doesn't deserve that." "My life is so enriched by all of my chosen family. I have so many people around me who really do show us unconditional love. Motherhood has been so healing for me.
