NFL Draft 2025 first-round grades: Live grades for every pick
Finally, finally, finally: It's NFL Draft time.
The NFL calendar has three flagship days: the opening day of the regular season, Super Bowl Sunday and, of course, the first night of the NFL Draft. After a long (and, at times, silly) grind of an offseason, we have finally reached the first round of the NFL Draft.
Dearest readers, let us rejoice. The 2025 NFL Draft is finally here.
2025 NFL DRAFT: Every team's biggest needs, from the Titans to the Eagles
The NFL Draft is unique because it is effectively a sale of hope. It is football fans' official respite that things might, one day, be different for their teams. Nothing sells optimism quite like a young, doe-eyed prospect with the potential to take over a game. Grading these respective NFL Draft selections is by no means an exact science. A great or poor grade is nowhere close to a referendum on someone's capacity at the highest level of this sport.
With all of that said, we come from an informed place with our first-round grades. They are our best estimate of a prospect's talent, fit with their new team and whether someone might have 'reached' a bit too much. We will hit a few home runs. We will also inevitably strike out in an embarrassing fashion. Full stop.
NFL DRAFT BUSTS: Every NFL team's worst first-round pick (from Ryan Leaf to Mitch Trubisky)

FA guard Dalton Risner could visit Steelers before making decision on contract
Free agent guard and former second-round pick Dalton Risner is preparing to sign with a team ahead of the start of the 2025 regular season. According to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, Risner has visited with the Cincinnati Bengals, will meet with the Seattle Seahawks, and, according to Fowler, could visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers as well before making a decision. Risner is a talented interior offensive lineman with tremendous experience. Risner is in his seventh NFL season and, after spending his first four seasons with the Denver Broncos and the next two with the Seattle Seahawks, has 81 career starts in 87 games. If Risner is considering the Steelers and the Steelers are interested in Risner, it would be because Isaac Seumalo's injury is worse than being reported. Seumalo did some work at practice on Tuesday but has been out for much of training camp with what has been reported as a back injury. Pittsburgh has been shuffling interior offensive line depth in hopes of putting together a solid depth chart. Right now, if Seumalo can't go in Week One of the regular season, it would come down to Max Scharping or Andrus Peat to get the start. Steelers in 'consideration' for standout free agent visit, per report
Steelers fans rejoice, one of the best free agent offensive linemen may be on his way to Pittsburgh. On Tuesday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that G Dalton Risner, who just finished a workout for the Bengals, is considering the Steelers for a potential visit as he decides on his future landing spot. "Free agent guard Dalton Risner, who worked out for the Bengals today, will also visit the Seahawks, per source. Visiting the Steelers also a consideration," Fowler wrote on X. "Wants to take multiple visits before making a decision." Selected by the Broncos with the 41st overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Risner wasted little time making an impact and was named to the PFWA NFL All-Rookie Team in his debut season — which featured a talented ensemble of players such as DE Nick Bosa, DT Dexter Lawrence, RB Josh Jacobs, and more. Risner has 81 games of starting experience from his time with the Broncos and Vikings. At best, he would challenge the Steelers' guards for a starting spot — and at worst, he'd serve as arguably one of the league's best backups. Steelers 53-man roster prediction after the second preseason game
The Pittsburgh Steelers are down to only one preseason game left to sort out the 53-man roster. On Saturday, the Steelers lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-14 and the team didn't perform well in any phase compared to the first preseason game. With that, there aren't any sweeping changes to our roster prediction, but more small tweaks. Pittsburgh wraps up the preseason on Friday against the Carolina Panthers and then they have to finalize their 53-man roster by August 26.
