Orlando Pirates rumours: Mayele, Mabasa, Makgopa, Makhaula
Today's Orlando Pirates stories revolve around Fiston Mayele, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Evidence Makgopa and a crushing blow for Makhehlene Makhaula.
To make it financially viable, Pirates would need to sell some surplus stars to raise the reported R12 million needed to sign Fiston Mayele. Even though the club already has a number of top strikers, there's no harm in adding another. If Pirates decide to cash in on either Evidence Makgopa or Tshegofatso Mabasa, they'll need a replacement. It's unlikely both players will stick around with no guarantee of starting every league game.

Wearing the number 47 jersey, Simphiwe Selepe has made his full Betway premiership debut for the Buccaneers. His debut for the club came not long ago, as a substitute against Kaizer Chiefs earlier this month. Orlando Pirates will have to tap into the left-back market this window after losing two experienced players before next season. Pirates will see both captain Innocent Maela and long-serving star Paseka Mako depart the club at the end of the June. Orlando Pirates could be facing one of their busiest transfer periods in the coming weeks. The Buccaneers finished second in the Betway Premiership and claimed their third consecutive MTN8 title. Despite a promising season, Pirates were unable to add more trophies. At one point, it seemed likely that the Sea Robbers might secure at least a treble, but poor form and a lack of signings in January caused the team to falter towards the end of the season. Compounding the disappointment, Jose Riveiro left the club to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly, which left Orlando Pirates fans disheartened. Last week, the club announced that they had parted ways with two defenders, Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane. Earlier, Innocent Maela and Miguel Timm also left the club. Now, the team must find replacements to strengthen their squad for the next season. According to various reports, Orlando Pirates are close to signing Tshepang Moremi from Amazulu and Sinoxolo Kwayiba from Chippa United. Another target is Stellenbosch and Bafana Bafana left-back Fawaaz Basadien, a quality defender who has also been linked to their Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.
