Myleene Klass has praised the 'awe-inspiring' St John's Ambulance after she saved a man's life at Brighton Pride.
As the Sugababes sang their headlining set at Preston Park at the weekend, the presenter burst into action behind the scenes.
In a clip posted to social media, Myleene, 47, shared 'You can probably hear the Sugababes are on in the background, and I've just helped save a life.'
The former Hear'Say star has been an ambassador for the charity since March 2024 and was volunteering over Pride weekend when she helped the festival-goer.
Myleene had to perform a 'jaw thrust' as part of a first response unit, which is a technique designed to clear someone's airways.
The move involves lifting the lower jaw forward, displacing the tongue and helping them breathe again, although she was unable to give any more details.
'I cannot divulge what happened with the patient, what the circumstances are but what I can say is I am utterly blown away and just to have been a small part of it as well,' she said.
'I actually just had to do the procedure that is known as a jaw thrust – that gives you an indication as to how serious the scenario was. The patient is on their way to the hospital right now.'
Myleene first got involved with St John's Ambulance in 2021 with their Ask Me campaign and has volunteered over the years after being trained by the team.
'It was honestly awe-inspiring seeing how St John Ambulance operated. We have doctors and paramedics,' she shared. 'Everyone is here. Everyone just did their bit.'
In her caption, she continued to praise the 'extensive professional expertise' of the volunteers, calling them 'exceptional'.
'You said afterwards you were 'just doing your jobs' but as SJA volunteers, that's not entirely true,' Myleene wrote. 'You were following a calling on your 'day off' which saved a life and immeasurable heartache for the patient's family and friends.' More Trending

Phil Collins shared health update before AI Paul McCartney 'visit' went viral

Phil Collins shared a health update shortly before a claim Paul McCartney had visited the Genesis star in hospital emerged online. Creepy photos of The Beatles legend visiting the frail-looking frontman Collins in a London hospital, playing a song on his guitar, circulated online earlier this week. The post featured two images of McCartney hugging Collins in what appeared to be a hospital room, with staff standing behind the musicians and looking on. Yet the images have been debunked as artificial intelligence, pointing to details including the fact that McCartney is holding the guitar as if right-handed, when he plays left-handed, the guitar only having five strings instead of six and the absence of a fifth finger on his strumming hand. A representative for Collins had told fans that the 74-year-old music legend was in hospital, but not for end-of-life care, before the AI-generated photos were shared earlier this week. It was reported that Collins was in the hospital after undergoing knee surgery, according to the The Independent. The health update was prompted when unfounded rumors circulated online that the retired musician was on his deathbed. Collins' spokesperson attempted to calm any worry surrounding the Genesis drummer's health, assuring TMZ he is 'nowhere near death'. The spokesperson did not specify any details about the knee operation but this is not the first surgery Collins has undergone. In 2007, the In The Air Tonight hitmaker suffered a spinal injury, resulting in his continuous struggle with severe nerve damage and deteriorating mobility. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video He dislocated vertebrae in his neck while on tour with Genesis but after two surgeries — in 2009 and 2015 — Collins was reliant on a cane. More Trending The injury also resulted in numbness in his hands, meaning that by 2019, he was unable to hold drumsticks and was forced to retire. His health took another difficult turn in 2021, when Collins shared with fans that on top of nerve damage, he was also battling diabetes. In the years since, his health has continued to deteriorate. Speaking to Mojo magazine in their April issue, he admitted he is no longer 'hungry' enough to make music. 'I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens,' Collins told the outlet. 'But I'm not hungry for it anymore. The thing is, I've been sick, I mean very sick.' Got a story? Myleene Klass reveals she saved someone's life at Brighton Pride

Presenter and singer Myleene Klass has revealed how she managed to help save someone's life at Brighton Pride as she took on a very important role at the event Myleene Klass has revealed she stepped into action to save someone's life after they became critically ill at Brighton Pride. The presenter, 47, had taken on a job at the Pride celebrations with St John's Ambulance. ‌ She has been an ambassador for the charity since March last year and was able to step in during a time of need. The incident happened during the Sugababes' headline show at Preston Park in the city. ‌ Myleene was among the first to respond at the festival and performed a procedure called a "jaw thrust". A jaw thrust is a technique used to open a person's airway, particularly when there's a risk of spinal injury and head tilt is to be avoided. It comes after Kerry Katona reveals her devastating health condition after split from ex-fiancé. ‌ The Hear'Say singer decided to film her reaction following the incident as she heaped praise on her colleagues and St John's Ambulance service. "You can probably hear the Sugababes are on in the background, and I've just helped save a life," she said. "It was honestly awe-inspiring seeing how St John Ambulance operated. We have doctors and paramedics. Everyone is here. Everyone just did their bit." ‌ Myleene shared the man had to be taken to hospital. "I cannot divulge what happened with the patient, what the circumstances are but what I can say is I am utterly blown away and just to have been a small part of it as well," she shared. "I actually just had to do the procedure that is known as a jaw thrust - that gives you an indication as to how serious the scenario was. The patient is on their way to the hospital right now." In her caption, Myleene added the importance of knowing first aid and how she felt to be a part of the team to help the man in need. She explained: "Due to patient confidentially, I cannot divulge more except that watching a group of determined, dedicated, professional @stjohn_ambulance volunteers of varying ages spring into action with one goal, to save this person was extremely moving. ‌ "If you don't know basic first aid or need a refresher course, this is your sign to book in with SJA today. I only knew what to do because THEY trained me." Myleene revealed that while she doesn't have "the extensive professional expertise" as some of her colleagues, she had the confidence to act when needed. ‌ Sadly, this wasn't the first time Myleene needed to step into action to save a life. Earlier this year, she recalled the harrowing experience of her daughter, Hero, turning blue and collapsing due to choking on a plastic star. Her decision to join St John's Ambulance came from saving her daughter. Recounting the distressing event, Myleene said: "Well, it was Hero when she was a baby. "She choked on those... you know those dayglo stars that you stick on the ceiling? I can't have them in the house." When asked on the We're Not Getting Any Younger podcast whether the star had fallen from the ceiling, Myleene clarified: "She found it. "She couldn't speak—she was so little. She couldn't even... well, she couldn't speak because she was choking, but she couldn't even vocalise what had happened." Myleene endured what she described as the "longest five minutes of my life" as she tried to get the star out of Hero's mouth. She explained that the star didn't come out immediately, but Hero eventually vomited it up and casually "toddled off", while Myleene was left in a state of hysteria. The NHS has a detailed guide on their website on how to respond in such situations, including instructions for administering back blows, chest thrusts, and abdominal thrusts, as well as steps to take if a child becomes unconscious.
