Salman Khan's Galwan Valley Film Gets Its Heroine And It's None Other Than…

Last Updated: Salman Khan has reportedly roped in Chitrangda Singh as the female lead in his Galwan Valley-based war drama, directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Salman Khan is gearing up for a new phase in his career with a no-nonsense, patriotic military action drama, following the lukewarm response of Sikandar. The megastar has now locked his leading lady for the upcoming film, reportedly based on the Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops in 2020. According to a report by India Today, Chitrangda Singh has been cast as the female lead opposite Salman Khan. This marks the first time the duo will share screen space. Chitrangda, best known for her critically acclaimed performance in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, later transitioned into mainstream cinema with films like Desi Boyz and item songs like Aao Raja from Gabbar is Back. The untitled film is said to be based on the Galwan chapter from the book India's Most Fearless 3 by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. Salman will reportedly portray Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who led Indian troops during the Galwan conflict. This project is significant for Salman Khan, as it will be his first time portraying a real-life character in a full-length feature. While he previously donned military uniforms in Heroes and Jai Ho, they were limited appearances. Directed by Shootout at Lokhandwala's Apoorva Lakhia, the film promises a gripping retelling of real events with high-octane action and emotional depth. As per Pinkvilla, principal photography begins in July 2025, with the team planning a tight 70-day shooting schedule. The film is expected to wrap by October. Salman is currently undergoing physical transformation and military training to prepare for the role. Besides Salman and Chitrangda, three younger actors will also be part of the ensemble cast, though their names are yet to be announced. Chitrangda, who was recently seen in Housefull 5, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, and Khel Khel Mein, could see a significant career resurgence if this film connects with audiences. First Published:

‘Ugly-cute' Labubu doll craze places Pop Mart CEO Wang Ning among China's richest, is worth $22.7 bn

Labubu, the quirky 'ugly-cute' doll, has become an internet sensation and a favourite among celebrities, igniting a new wave of fashion trends. From Rihanna and BLACKPINK's Lisa to Ananya Panday, stars around the world have been spotted showing off their Labubu dolls. Amid the global craze, Wang Ning, CEO of Pop Mart International Group, has now become one of China's ten richest individuals, according to Forbes' Real-Time Billionaires List. His net worth is now estimated at a staggering $22.7 billion, primarily due to his stake in Pop Mart. Created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, the creation first entered the toy industry in 2015. However, it was 2019 when the sales of Labubu dolls skyrocketed after a collaboration with the Chinese toy giant, Pop Mart. The global craze for Labubu has played a key role in fueling Pop Mart's growth. In 2024, the company's net profit reportedly jumped by 188 per cent, with total sales more than doubling from the previous year to reach roughly 13 billion yuan (around $1.8 billion), the report said. Revenues from the Monsters collection, which features Labubu, soared by an extraordinary 726.6 per cent, serving as a major catalyst for the rise in Pop Mart's value. Labubu dolls, priced between $20 and $30, are sold in 'blind boxes', a format where buyers only discover which design they have received after unboxing. This element of surprise sparked a trend across social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. In an interview with Hypebeast, Lung shared that his time in the Netherlands was a major source of inspiration for the character. 'I liked to read storybooks and was influenced by ancient European elf legends,' he explained. Reflecting on his early years, Lung added, 'There were no game consoles or computers, so I had to draw dolls with a pen, so I had the idea of painting fairy tales since I was a child.'
