This runner just set a new world record for the beer mile — and it's seriously quick
In fact, his splits were pretty impressive, downing each beer in around 7 seconds (except the last lap, when opening the bottle took a few extra seconds), before running 400m in around a minute.

As its name suggests, a beer mile is a running race that involves drinking, while running around a track. A mile is four laps of a running track, and for the race, participants have to stop and drink 12 ounces of beer after each lap.
Unofficial and official rules exist. The beer must be consumed within a nine metre transition area — competitors can walk in the transition area while drinking, but all beer must be consumed in the transition area before setting off to run a lap.
The beer is not allowed to be decanted into a sports bottle or cup to make drinking quickly easier, instead the 12 ounces should be consumed from a beer bottle or can. If participants are drinking from a can, the can should not be punctured or squeezed to make drinking easier.
The rules state the beer must be at least 5%, and cider or fizzy drinks cannot be substituted. The beer must not be opened for the runners.

The rules also state, 'Competitors who vomit before they finish the race must complete one penalty lap at the end of the race (immediately after the completion of their 4th lap). Vomiting more than once during the race still only requires one penalty lap at the end.'

Nice.
The real question, as asked by one commenter on Instagram, is how Bellemore trains for such an impressive feat. The danger of drinking and running is dehydration, and (obviously) falling over and injuring yourself. So don't try this at home, kids.

Why former Georgia RB is in contract dispute with the Buffalo Bills
Former Georgia Bulldog running back James Cook is looking for an extension with the Buffalo Bills. Unfortunately, the extension talks have sputtered to the point where there's been speculation that Cook might be "holding in" as a non-participant in practices, according to Rory Parks of TradeRumors. Cook is entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Buffalo Bills and wants a new deal. There have been many instances of players holding out or holding in until they earn a new contract, but when he reported to the first training camp practice on July 24, it gave indication that Cook would practice. That changed on Aug. 3. Cook was a non-participant on Sunday's practice, and when asked about why by ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg, he said "business". He kept repeating it on follow-up questions too. General manager Brandon Beane didn't see Cook's hold-in coming. "Yeah, you know, it's not something we were fully aware of until shortly before practice," Beane said, via The Buffalo News. "So, I get it, I understand it; it's the world we're in, I guess, of how players want to respond and things like that. "So, you know, at the end of the day, I wish we weren't here," Bean said. "This is my ninth season here, we've never had a player miss due to a contract or anything like that, so that's disappointing for me." Cook's has an asking price of at least $15M per year, he publicly announced via his Instagram. That would tie him with Derrick Henry for the third-highest average annual value among all NFL running backs. The Bills have already reached long-term deals with quarterback Josh Allen, wide receiver Khalil Shakir, cornerback Christian Benford, edge rusher Gregory Rousseau, and linebacker Terrel Bernard, so they could be looking to save a little on Cook's extension. Cook wants to be paid what he believes he's worth. He's arguably the second-most important player in the Bills' offense behind quarterback Josh Allen. In the regular season, Cook recorded 1,009 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns and caught 32 passes. In the playoffs, Cook posted over 300 total yards and three touchdowns as he helped the Bills advance to the AFC championship game. He has blossomed at the NFL level, but not every NFL team values the running back position. Before he became a two-time Pro Bowl running back with the Bills, Cook played for four seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs, racking up 1,503 yards and 14 touchdowns on 230 carries. He even caught 67 passes for 730 yards and 6 touchdowns. His elusive, versatile running style fit in perfectly with the bruising, hard-hitting running style of Zamir White, and it was on full display when both of them rushed for a combined 165 yards on 19 carries against Alabama to win the 2021 national championship. Elina Svitolina ripped bettors for crossing line after Naomi Osaka loss
In case it wasn't already clear, bets you make on any sporting event are your responsibility and YOUR responsibility alone. An athlete is not obligated to follow through and will not tailor their performance based on whatever transaction a complete stranger agreed to behind the scenes (not to mention the ethical and legal concerns). And the moment you start venting out your frustrations to an athlete who "let you down," you've lost the plot entirely. That seems to be what's happened with Elina Svitolina. After losing to Naomi Osaka in the National Bank Open quarterfinals on Tuesday, the No. 13-ranked tennis player in the world took to her Instagram story to share screenshots of a handful of "shameful" messages from bettors filled with vitriol and anger over her failure at the hands of Osaka. Svitolina included messages that invoked death threats. Some mocked Svitolina's Ukrainian heritage amid the country's ongoing war with Russia. Others made racist comments about her husband, Gaël Monfils, a Black fellow professional tennis player. For obvious sensitivity reasons, I will not link out any of the images here. You can find them in Svitolina's story if you're so inclined. To say the least, this is not OK. Not at all. 'To all the bettors: I'm a mom before I'm an athlete,' Svitolina wrote in her Instagram story. 'The way you talk to women – to mothers – is SHAMEFUL. If your moms saw your messages, they'd be disgusted.' Friends, please remember what I'm about to say. Just because you lost a bet over a sports outcome does not mean you get to start harassing the person you think cost you money. Athletes are still, and stay with me here, human beings who deserve common decency like any of us. They're not props. The only person who costs you money in these kinds of situations is you. The betting buck starts and stops with you. Always.

Best of new Boston Celtics big man Chris Boucher in 2024-25
What should we expect from new Boston Celtics big man Chris Boucher? The Celtics signed the Canadian forward to a one-season, veteran minimum deal once they opened up the cap space needed to stay under the NBA's second apron by dealing vet forward Georges Niang into the Utah Jazz' cap space with a pair of second round picks. How does Boucher fit into Boston's big man rotation? Will he play more as a center or as a forward, and will he start or come off the bench? Last season with the Raptors, the Castries, Saint Lucia native put up 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49.2% from the floor overall, 36.3% from deep, and 78.2% from the free throw line. The man behind the "Tomasz Kordylewski (Timi)" YouTube channel put together a clip of his highlights last season so we can get to know his game better. Check it out below!
