AAP slams Delhi's fuel ban rule, calls it ‘Tughlaqi farman' to benefit automakers
The term 'Tughlaqi farmaan" is a reference to arbitrary and unpopular decrees of 14th-century ruler Muhammad bin Tughlaq. Atishi questioned the rationale behind the order, while alleging that it lacks any proven connection to effective pollution control.'The common people of Delhi use two-wheelers to commute to offices. What will they do now? Secondly, many senior citizens in Delhi use second-hand two-wheelers for local use. What will they do now? Will those senior citizens walk to the markets?" she added.Atishi also alleged that the decision is completely illogical and has no scientific backing. She also added that pollution is not caused by the age of a vehicle, but by how well it is maintained.advertisementDuring the press conference, she cited data suggesting that over 62 lakh vehicles could be impacted by the ban, leading to massive disruption for middle-class and working-class Delhiites.'The BJP doesn't care for Delhi's voters. They only care about the profits of vehicle manufacturers. This move will only benefit the automobile industry and put lakhs of families under financial pressure,' Atishi alleged. The Delhi Government is yet to respond formally to AAP's criticism. The order, which came into effect from July 1 onwards, states that vehicles that have exceeded their legal operational life, diesel vehicles over 10 years old and petrol vehicles older than 15, will no longer be allowed to get refuelled at petrol pumps in Delhi. - EndsTrending Reel

DJB authorised to clear projects up to ₹50 cr. to boost Yamuna clean-up
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday announced that the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has been empowered to independently approve projects worth up to ₹50 crore for faster execution of critical projects, including the cleaning of the Yamuna river and improving drinking water supply. According to the revised financial powers, the DJB Chairman can now clear projects up to ₹50 crore, the Chief Executive Officer up to ₹25 crore, and a DJB member up to ₹5 crore. 'This reform is part of our commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'minimum government, maximum governance',' Ms. Gupta said, adding that it will help eliminate red tape and accelerate development on the ground. Ms. Gupta alleged that the previous Aam Aadmi Party government had stripped the DJB of financial powers, leading to delays and stagnation in essential infrastructure work. 'As a result, the Yamuna remained polluted and Delhiites continued to suffer from irregular water supply,' she said. Describing the move as a 'landmark reform', the CM said her government's objective is to clean the Yamuna rapidly and effectively by treating polluted drain water with modern systems to prevent further contamination, while also ensuring a reliable supply of clean drinking water to residents. 'For a long time, Yamuna cleaning plans remained only on paper due to cumbersome and lengthy approval processes. That bottleneck has now been removed. Our government is committed to delivering result-oriented governance, not entangling people in paperwork,' she said.

Cong threatens mass protest over OBC quota implementation delay
Bhopal: The Congress on Saturday warned of a statewide agitation if the BJP govt in the state fails to implement 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) without further delay. Congress state unit president Jitu Patwari and LoP Umang Singhar, addressing a joint press conference, said the party would launch protests, rallies and public awareness drives across the state in support of the backward classes. "The BJP's anti-OBC face has been exposed, the Congress will fight till the end," Patwari said. "The BJP govt has crossed all limits of fraud, betrayal and shameful injustice with the OBC community. The state govt is also tampering with the basic structure of the Constitution to prevent the OBC class from getting its rights. Disregarding the repeated, clear and strict instructions of the Supreme Court, the BJP govt is depriving the OBC brothers and sisters of their constitutional right of 27% reservation. This is the most disgusting and cruel face of the anti-OBC mentality, which is killing democracy, constitution and social justice. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? LOP Singhar said on Friday, the Supreme Court reprimanded the MP govt in the hearing of OBC reservation case. "The court expressed strong displeasure over the failures, inaction and procrastination of the govt," the LOP said. "The chief secretary was ordered to file an affidavit, in which it has to be clarified what obstacles are coming in the appointments to 13% posts that have currently been put on hold," he said. In 2019, the erstwhile Kamal Nath govt increased reservation for OBCs from 14% to 27% taking total reservations quota to 63%. Patwari said: "The Madhya Pradesh govt makes excuses of those petitions which were filed against the ordinance, whose hearing is pending in the Supreme Court." The Congress leaders said on 25 June, the Supreme Court asked the state govt that when there is no legal obstacle, why is 27% reservation not being implemented? "Still, the BJP govt is engaged in carrying out its anti-OBC conspiracy," Patwari said. Singhar said the Congress demands 27% OBC reservation should be implemented immediately. He said the appointments of OBC candidates selected in the recruitments which were stopped by the govt, should be restored immediately or else the Congress will start its state-wide protests.
