A 10,000 strong battalion of the Toon Army is descending on Glasgow this afternoon as Eddie Howe brings his Newcastle Utd side to Parkhead to take on Celtic.
Howe at one point seemed certain to be a replacement for Brendan Rodgers but instead the Newcastle manager will be sitting in the opposite dugout at Celtic Park as the Scottish champions face his Magpies team in a blockbuster friendly clash.

Last season Celtic faced off against Aston Villa at Villa Park and fell to a 4-2 defeat following a thrilling Battle of Britain Champions League showdown.
Rangers, meanwhile, travelled down south to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford, after hosting Tottenham at Ibrox a month earlier.
This time it's Newcastle that will test themselves against one of Scotland's big two in Glasgow.
Rodgers' players will come into this friendly showdown with plenty of minutes, having already played four non-competitive fixtures this summer so far.
Newcastle, on the other hand, have played just one game against Carlisle - a 4-0 win last Saturday.
Next week the Magpies will really up the ante as they fly over to South Korea alongside Spurs for a pre-season tournament.
But first things first is a trip north of the border to face the Scottish champions.
Celtic host Newcastle TODAY, Saturday, July 19.
The match kicks off at 3pm UK time.
It is being held at Celtic Park in Glasgow.
This game will NOT be shown on live TV.
The game will, however, be streamed live via Celtic TV.

Shin Yamada embracing his early days as a Celtic player

Shin Yamada is embracing his early days as a Celtic player as the Japan international gets used to life outside his comfort zone. The 25-year-old forward had spent his entire senior career with Kawasaki Frontale in his homeland prior to joining the Hoops on a four-year contract just over a week ago. Yamada has been in Italy with his new team-mates over the past week training and competing at the Como Cup. 'I'm glad to be a part of this Celtic team,' he said, speaking through a translator, in a club interview. 'This is the first time I have moved to a different club, so I am enjoying that. The quality of the team is very high, so I'm enjoying the football side of things. 'The first league game is coming soon, and we'll play in different competitions, so I would like to score a lot of goals and share good moments with the fans.' Yamada made an eye-catching first appearance for Celtic in Como on Saturday night and scored the winning penalty as his new side defeated Saudi Arabian team Al-Ahli in a shoot-out following a 1-1 draw. 'I'm happy to score the last goal to win the game,' he said. 'I wish I could have scored during the game, but in the end I contributed so it's good.' Celtic captain Callum McGregor believes his side are in good fettle as they prepare to kick off their William Hill Premiership title defence at home to St Mirren next Sunday. 'Pre-season has been good,' the midfielder said before the Hoops flew from Italy back to Scotland on Sunday. 'Every season throws up different challenges of trying to get up to speed, trying to integrate new players and find the rhythm of the team. 'At times it's looked really good and there are always bits we can brush up on. 'It's been a good five or six-week block. The boys have worked really hard. Everyone knows the objectives and we're ready to go. The big test for us will be next week. 'We'll be ready for St Mirren. We know that they always give you a tough game. The start of the week will be nice and chilled, and then we'll ramp it up as we go. 'We've been here a million times, so we know what to expect. The players know what's expected of them as well, so come Sunday we have to be ready.' Alexander Isak to Liverpool swap transfer plan takes a blow as £65m deal nearly done

Alexander Isak is still linked to Liverpool, but a potential move looks to have taken a huge hit with another big deal in the transfer market on the verge of completion Luis Diaz's imminent move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich looks to have thwarted any potential swap deal for Alexander Isak. Diaz, 28, looks set to move to Bavaria, after Vincent Kompany's side agreed a £65.5million deal for the Colombian. ‌ The reigning Premier League champions have been active buyers in the transfer market this summer, but Diaz's exit would be a substantial sale. Liverpool's spending approached the £300m mark after they wrapped up a £79m move for Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. ‌ That figure could rise still further after Isak told Newcastle he wanted to explore a move away from St James' Park, with Arne Slot's side at the front of the queue. However, Diaz's exit may put an end to recent suggestions that Newcastle could request Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez as part of a potential swap transfer for Isak. ‌ Recent reports from German outlet Bild claimed the Magpies were considering a move for Nunez after the Reds beat them to the signature of Ekitike. The Frenchman's arrival looks to have pushed their former record signing out of Slot's first-choice eleven. With Newcastle looking for a striker and Isak seemingly looking for the exit door, a potential swap deal that would have seen the Swede and the former Benfica ace switch clubs appeared to be a possibility. However, with Diaz now departing the club, any faint chance of this deal taking place looks to be over. Newcastle have also turned their attention to RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko, who is valued between £60m and £70m. The young Slovenian had been linked with a move to Arsenal, but the Gunners ended their interest to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon instead. Meanwhile, Nunez is currently nursing a minor injury picked up on pre-season. The Uruguayan did not feature in the Reds' pre-season clash against AC Milan, as Slot did not want to risk aggravating it. The Dutchman has also been impressed with how the 26-year-old has performed this summer. Slot said: "In Darwin's situation, he has trained really well and played a few good games for us already this pre-season. He was injured so we didn't want to take the risk. ‌ "It was also the same with Wata (Endo) — trained with us all week but we didn't want to take a risk with him either. It is part of pre-season, the boys need to get towards match fitness and that is a thin balance, a thin line sometimes. "In this situation we thought it was smarter for Darwin and Wata to sit it out today but I assume they will be with us when we are in Japan for the next game.' ‌ Nunez had been linked with a move to Napoli, but the Italian champions' recent signing of Udinese forward Lorenzo Lucca seemingly put an end to those rumours. Nevertheless, Liverpool are still understood to be interested in Isak, who is believed to have a price-tag of around £150m on his head. The Reds broke the Premier League transfer record to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £116m, but if they want Isak, they will have to surpass that figure significantly. If they met Newcastle's huge valuation, their spending would reach as high as £450m.

Andy Murray reveals ‘new addition to the family' in touching pictures eight months on from heartbreak

ANDY MURRAY was all smiles as he welcomed the latest addition to his family with a heartwarming post on social media. The Scottish tennis icon was delighted to reveal he and his wife Kim had adopted another puppy - eight months on from losing their beloved dog Rusty. 2 2 The Murray family were heart-broken when he revealed the devastating news on social media in November last year. Murray previously described Rusty as his beloved and loyal companion along with his other Border Terrier, Maggie May, who sadly passed away two years earlier in 2022. Writing on social media at the time, grieving Murray posted: "You were the most loyal and protective companion our family could have wished for. "You were so patient and gentle with the kids and we all learned so much from you. "The house feels empty without you in it. "The noise you made when you wanted a plate to lick, or a biscuit to chew on, or when you wanted anything for that matter, was infuriating at times! "But today we would do anything to hear it again. Love you Ruzz, rest easy poppet x." Fans flooded his Instagram page with messages of support following the tragic news as they expressed their sympathy for him and his family. But this morning, Murray thankfully had some wonderful news to share with his followers as he uploaded pictures of him alongside his new pup. He shared two snaps of the young pup - one of him sitting next to the dog and another of the canine relaxing in their family home.
