Tirupati: 'With the double engine Sarkar, Andhra Pradesh State is witnessing rapid development overcoming its crisis,' stated Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Speaking at a meeting held on the completion of 11 years of the Narendra Modi-led government, here on Wednesday, the Union Minister claimed that Andhra Pradesh is now receiving maximum financial support from the Centre because the same alliance NDA is ruling both at the State and Centre. Giving detailed account on the liberal support from the Centre, he said about Rs 54,000 crore, including Rs 22,000 crore through bonds, Rs 15,000 crore from World Bank, Rs 12,000 crore from HUDCO and Rs 5,000 crore from German Bank were sanctioned for Amaravati. PM Modi during his recent visit to Vizag, initiated Rs 2 lakh crore development initiatives State-wide, he added.
Similarly, Modi also initiated Rs 15,000 crore worth development works under Amaravati reconstruction programme.
Regarding Vizag steel plant, Rs 11,444 crore were sanctioned to help the steel plant overcome its losses and achieve normal functioning, he informed.
Sanjay said after the Modi government came to power for the third time, the Centre released Rs 12,157 crore under Polavaram project advance funds. Further, under the national industrial corridor development programme (NICDP), Rs 28,602 crore plan was approved to set up 12 industrial estates in Vorvakal and Kopparthi areas. Air services commenced in Kurnool airport and also in Kadapa under Udan scheme covering 17 new air routes in the State.
He also said that road facilities are being improved in a big way in the State with Rs 14,000 crore including Bengaluru - Kadapa - Vijayawada express highway and Anantapur – Pendurthi - Anakapalli national highway extension construction works, which were recently inaugurated by PM Modi.
The Union Minister said the State got a record-level development in railways with the Centre allocating Rs 9,417 crore in 2024-2025 budget, which is 11 times higher than the Rs 886 crore provided by the Congress government in 2009-2014.
Bandi Sanjay planted saplings in police parade grounds after receiving a guard of honour from the district police. Party leaders Bhanu Prakash Reddy, Samanchi Srinivas, Munisubrahmanyam, Gundala Gopinath, P Chandra Sekhar and others were present.

The PM is also expected to visit the site of the crash, officials said. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the crash site and meet the injured and the families of the victims around 8.30 pm,' a senior Gujarat government official said, adding that a team from Boeing is expected to arrive soon to provide detailed insights into the potential causes of the crash, which marks the first fatal incident involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner since its commercial debut in 2011. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 232 passengers and 10 crew members, crashed into a residential area in Meghani Nagar, Ahmedabad, on Thursday shortly after take-off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft, en route to London's Gatwick airport, issued a 'Mayday' call before losing contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC), reaching only 625 feet before plummeting into a medical college hostel, igniting a massive fire ball. The crash claimed the lives of 241 people on board and at least three medical students on ground. The sole survivor, a British national of Indian origin seated near an emergency exit, is currently at the civil hospital where 45 others, including undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) medical students, are receiving treatment. Authorities have confirmed that four medical students and the wife of a doctor were also killed in the mishap. Prime Minister Modi is expected to assess the situation, meet officials and review preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation, which is being led by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft may have experienced a malfunction in a wing flap as the landing gear was seen to be in a downward position during ascent, which is unusual for that phase of the flight, an Airports Authority of India official said. Investigators are also considering possibilities like overloading or a bird strike, though clear weather conditions rule out environmental factors, he added. The aircraft's flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, commonly referred to as the 'black box', are being analysed. A high-level committee has been established to ensure a thorough and transparent probe, adhering to international aviation safety protocols. Rajeshbhai Patni, a 47-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, was dropping off passengers near the hostel when the flight crashed. He witnessed the devastating moment firsthand as the aircraft collided with the building. 'I saw the plane exploding when it hit the roof. I saw red and black flames emerging from the building. I left my autorickshaw and ran for my life,' recounted Patni, who sustained injuries on his chest and leg. Sandeep Datani, who runs a coconut stall approximately 2km from the crash site, rushed to the scene after spotting smoke. 'I saw smoke rising and rushed to see what happened. There was another blast and that's when I started running,' said Datani, who escaped unhurt.

'Our government took concrete steps to fulfil the promises made in the election manifesto immediately after assuming office a year ago. We made four historic decisions within 24 minutes of our first Cabinet meeting including opening all the four doors of Sri Jagannath Temple at Puri, opening 'Ratna Bhandar', setting up a corpus fund of Rs 500-crore and introduction of 'Subhadra' Yojana. We have fulfilled the hopes of the people. Whatever we promised, we would deliver during our present term. We will go to the people, take their feedback and complete the remaining four years', Singh Deo said. On the future agenda, the Deputy Chief Minister said the government is committed to procure a cargo aircraft to export green vegetables and fresh fruits from Odisha. 'We are now exporting vegetables and fruits including strawberry, dragon and other fruits to Dubai and other countries besides Delhi, Mumbai and other places in India which are in great demand. Cargo aircraft can also be a boon for floriculture sector in Ganjam', he said.

Rs 160 crore down the drain as Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah 2015 caste report (Photo: ANI) BENGALURU: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Thursday said his cabinet has decided to commission a fresh socio-educational survey since the 2015 survey conducted by then Karnataka State Commission for Backwards Classes chairman H Kantharaju had lapsed as it is 10 years old. The CM's remarks come a day after he stood by the 2015 survey, also called the caste census, saying: "We won't reject the report." On Thursday, after a cabinet meeting, he said: "This decision is in accordance with Section 11(2) of Karnataka State Commission for Backwards Classes Act, 1995, which empowers the state government to commission socio-educational surveys once in 10 years." He did not announce the fresh survey's launch date. Thursday's meeting was convened to discuss the 2015 report, which was submitted in February 2024. "We couldn't discuss the report then because of the 2024 general elections," he said. Responding to the criticism, his government scrapped the Kantharaju report, on which it spent Rs 160 crore, owing to the high command's pressure. CM said he obliged all stakeholders, including the high command. The decision for a fresh census was taken after the Congress high command on Wednesday directed CM and his deputy to conduct a fresh enumeration.
