Bahrain Participates in the 51st Arab Labor Conference in Cairo
The Bahraini delegation includes representatives from the Ministry of Labour, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, and the Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation.
The conference agenda for this year focuses on several critical issues, foremost among them being the development of entrepreneurship across the Arab world. Discussions also include the Arab Entrepreneurship Strategy initiative, and a review of the Arab Labor Organization's Director-General's report, which emphasizes the importance of economic diversification in Arab countries to cope with global economic changes. The report urges reducing reliance on natural resources to achieve sustainable development and reinforce economic and social stability.
On this occasion, Minister Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf underscored the significance of such conferences as essential platforms for addressing challenges, exploring opportunities, and sharing expertise and best practices across various fields. He commended the role of the Arab Labor Organization in promoting collaborative action that supports developmental efforts and contributes to achieving shared objectives.
The Minister also highlighted Bahrain's ongoing efforts to enhance economic diversification, ensuring sustainable growth and creating promising opportunities for citizens. He noted the country's commitment to developing the business environment by introducing investment-friendly legislation and launching initiatives that support long-term economic growth.
The 51st Arab Labor Conference will continue in Cairo until April 26, 2025, bringing together Arab labor ministers, employer representatives, and trade union leaders to deliberate on key labor and economic issues across the region.

Recognised by global architectural platform ArchDaily as one of the top ten must visit pavilions, it offers an immersive journey combining sensory exhibits, architecture inspired by Bahrain's maritime history and Japanese woodworking, a café blending Bahraini and Japanese flavours, an economic showcase of the Kingdom's future, and a heritage themed gift shop. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and Commissioner General of the pavilion, said the participation reflects Bahrain's vision to enhance its cultural and economic presence globally. He noted preparations are under way for Bahrain's National Day at the expo in September to highlight the Kingdom's maritime heritage, artistic creativity, and cultural and economic resilience. Located in the 'Empowering Lives' zone, the 995-square-metre pavilion stands four storeys high with sea views. Designed by Lina Ghotmeh, it is built mainly from wood and cooled naturally by sea breezes, making it one of the most sustainable structures at the expo. The multi sensory exhibition, curated with artists and institutions including Shepherd Studio, Sissel Tolaas, Hassan Hujairi, and La Méduse, explores themes of trade, crafts, industry, pearls, and the environment. The café, led by award winning Bahraini chef Tala Bashmi, serves seasonal menus fusing Bahraini and Japanese ingredients. Staff and volunteers wear designs by Lulwa Al Amin, featuring coastal inspired prints and embroidery. Expo 2025 Osaka runs until October 13. Bahrain's National Day at the pavilion will be celebrated on September 18.

CBB opens applications for its first graduate development program 'GP15'
The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has announced that registration is now open for the first edition of its Graduate Development Program 'GP15.' The initiative supports the CBB's ongoing commitment to empowering Bahraini youth, in line with its priorities to foster innovation, digital transformation, and build a skilled, future-ready workforce. The program targets Bahrainis who have graduated from local and international universities within the last two years with a Bachelor's degree in any specialization, and a minimum GPA of 3.25. As part of the first edition of the program, 15 candidates will be selected through a comprehensive evaluation process including an aptitude test and interviews, to ensure the participants are the best fit for the program. Selected graduates will take part in a six-month internship opportunity, where they will work across various functions within the CBB, and engage in practical workplace simulations. Participants will also attend workshops and site visits aimed at strengthening their analytical skills, financial literacy, and understanding of banking strategies. Commenting on the occasion, Mrs. Fatema Mohamed Ali, Director of Human Resources at CBB and Program Manager, said: 'We encourage ambitious Bahraini graduates to take advantage of this opportunity to gain valuable experience and develop their careers in the financial services sector. This program reflects the CBB's dedication to investing in national talent and preparing future leaders who will drive industry growth and innovation.'
