INVASION Season 3 Trailer Teases Apex Alien Threat and High-Stakes Global Team-Up — GeekTyrant

Geek Tyrant3 days ago
Apple TV+ has unveiled the intense new trailer for Invasion Season 3, which is set to premiere on August 22 with a ten-episode run.
Created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil, the sci-fi drama continues to explore an alien invasion through multiple global perspectives, but this season brings those threads together in a major way.
According to the official synopsis, 'in season three, those perspectives collide for the first time, as the series' main characters are brought together to work as a team on a critical mission to infiltrate the alien mothership.
'The ultimate apex aliens have finally emerged, rapidly spreading their deadly tendrils across our planet. It will take all our heroes working together, using all their experience and expertise, to save our species.
'New relationships are formed, old relationships are challenged and even shattered, as an international cast of characters must become a team before it's too late.' It's a major shift for the show, moving from scattered survival stories to a unified global counterstrike.
Returning cast includes Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, Shane Zaza and Enver Gjokaj, with Erika Alexander joining the lineup as a new series regular.

You Should 100% Watch The 0% ‘War Of The Worlds' On Amazon Prime Video

It's official, at this point, War of the Worlds has gone from a bad movie to a movie that's so bad, you must actually recommend people watch it because it is in fact, the good kind of bad. The 11th or so War of the Worlds adaptation based on the 130-year-old HG Wells story is an affront to that work, to sci-fi, to movies in general and to the intelligence of audiences. I maintain this was all on purpose, that Amazon and this cast knew what they were doing with this, but if not, that makes it even funnier. The movie has security surveillance expert Ice Cube attempting to track a hacker and spy on his kids when suddenly, there's an alien invasion. He continues to track the hacker and spy on his kids as all this is happening, occasionally punctuating things with an 'oh shit!' or 'this is terrible' as he watches aliens take over the planet. All of this takes place on Ice Cube's computer screen, or often Microsoft Zoom meetings or Ice Cube's webcam that show his hilarious reactions to everything going on. There is also an explanation as to why he is not leaving his computer during an entire alien invasion, as there is, of course, a 'lockdown,' preventing a man who can hack everything on earth from leaving the building. The special effects are bargain basement. The rest of the cast, which does include recognizable faces like Eva Longoria and Clark Gregg, are phoning it in to such a degree that again, I have to believe this is on purpose. Everyone in the film makes the worst possible decisions at any given moment, and in between those entertaining scenes, at least 30% of the movie appears to be product placement for a number of tech brands, most of all Amazon, where the company actually becomes crucial to the plot by the end in ways I do not possibly want to spoil here. You must see it for yourself. There was something of a dust-up the other day when finally, a single critic gave it a positive score on Rotten Tomatoes. While that may seem insane, I can understand this from an 'entertainment' perspective, given how much you will be laughing throughout. But of course yes, it's explicitly awful. There have been claims that War of the Worlds is one of the worst movies of all time. Or at least in the entire lifetime of a viewer. Both of these are accurate. It's being compared to The Room, the horrific Tommy Wiseau feature that became a cult classic, and I think that's what we're seeing here, only with actors we recognize like Ice Cube and Longoria. I have to know what happened here, and I'm hoping there will soon be a deep dive into how this movie was conceived of, filmed and released, or else it will remain one of cinema's biggest mysteries as to how this possibly happened. I absolutely recommend it, so long as you know what you're getting into. Watch it with open-minded friends. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.

Metallica's In The Middle Of A Huge Week On The Billboard Charts

When it comes to Metallica and the Billboard charts this week, the focus is on the group's self-titled full-length. That project brings the hard rock legends to a milestone that only a very small number of artists in history have reached — but it's not the only exciting thing happening with the Grammy winners. Multiple titles connected to Metallica return to various tallies this frame, as fans continue to buy and stream everything the band has released, not just its namesake bestseller. Master of Puppets Returns to Top Album Sales Metallica is one of two titles by the band of the same name to appear on at least one Billboard chart. As that set soars on multiple rankings, Master of Puppets reenters the Top Album Sales ranking. The decades-old project is once again a bestseller as it breaks back onto the list of the bestselling projects in the country at No. 44. Luminate reports that sales of the fan favorite increased by almost 21% week over week, with just under 2,900 pure purchases. 'Enter Sandman' Returns to a Global Chart Metallica only claims one hit song on any Billboard chart, and 'Enter Sandman' is once again that classic. The single rises to No. 9 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs roster as it finds its way back to the Billboard Global 200. The band once again scores one of the 200 most consumed songs around the planet, as 'Enter Sandman' flies back to No. 194 after not finding space on the list at all just days ago. The decades-old cut, regarded as one of the most important in hard rock history, has only spent six weeks on the list throughout the years, and it has previously topped out at No. 177. Metallica Joins Pink Floyd and Bob Marley Metallica, the album, hits 800 weeks on the Billboard 200 this frame as it rises to No. 154. It's just the fourth release in history to make it to that milestone on the hugely competitive tally, following The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers, and Greatest Hits by Journey. Metallica lives on a trio of tallies at the moment. In addition to the Billboard 200, it returns to the top 40, landing at No. 40 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, and dips a single spot on the Top Hard Rock Albums list. A Legacy of Chart and Sales Dominance Released in August 1991, Metallica — often referred to as The Black Album — marked a commercial breakthrough for the band. It was powered by smash hits like 'Enter Sandman,' 'The Unforgiven,' and 'Nothing Else Matters,' which still rank among the most successful from the harder side of rock music. The behemoth has moved at least 20 million copies in the U.S. alone, making it one of the top performers of all time.

Taylor Swift's Timely Streaming Win Helps Her Album Become A Bestseller Again

Every December, it's common for Christmas songs to invade the Billboard charts, and as Halloween nears, several tunes — especially 'Thriller' by Michael Jackson — mount incredible comebacks. There aren't too many other tracks that enjoy annual surges in streams and sales that aren't connected to those two holidays, but Taylor Swift has landed one of the few. 'August,' featured on her album Folklore, returns to prominence as its namesake month nears and begins. Some years, the uptick is relatively small, while at other times, it's big enough to help the tune and the album it's featured on — and that's the case in 2025. Folklore Reenters Top Album Sales Chart Folklore is enjoying its biggest week in some time on the Billboard charts, thanks largely to increases in streams and sales of 'August.' At the moment, Folklore lives on four tallies, surging on three and returning to one. Five years after its release, Folklore is back on the Top Album Sales chart, appearing once again as one of the 50 bestselling titles in the country. The Grammy-winning effort lands on the list at No. 47 after selling more than 2,800 copies in the most recent finished tracking frame. Major Gains on Alternative and Rock Charts Swift's surprise release also surges on several other rankings. Folklore lives inside the top 10 on both the Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts, pushing to Nos. 4 and 9, respectively. It reappears inside the highest tier on the latter list, as last frame it sat at No. 14. The hugely popular project almost finds its way back inside the top 40 on the Billboard 200 as it jumps from No. 61 to No. 45. Consumption of the project grew by more than 14% from one frame to the next, as it moved 16,650 equivalent units compared to 14,600 units the week prior (per Luminate). Folklore Leads Swift's Album Chart Wins Swift sees eight of her albums appear on at least one Billboard chart apiece this week. Several titles, including The Tortured Poets Department, Reputation, and Red (Taylor's Version), live on two tallies at the same time. Folklore is easily the winner, as it appears on four rankings, doubling the total number of appearances of her other most successful projects in America at the moment. 'August' Drives Folklore's Seasonal Popularity Somewhat surprisingly, while consumption of the song 'August' is largely to thank for the success of Folklore, the song itself does not appear on any Billboard charts at the moment. The tune was never pushed as a single, but remains a fan favorite nonetheless. 'August' reached No. 23 on the Hot 100 and gave Swift one of her first top 10 hits on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart in its initial heyday. Folklore's Grammy-Winning Legacy When Folklore arrived in July 2020, it became Swift's seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, where it debuted with more than 846,000 equivalent units, making one of the largest opening sums in recent memory at the time. It went on to win Album of the Year at the Grammys – another such success for the singer-songwriter – and has remained a top performer ever since, helped by tracks like 'Cardigan,' 'The 1,' and 'Exile' alongside 'August.'
