Indiana Fever use recent win to hold strong in CBS Sports WNBA Power Rankings
That win pushed the Fever to 14-12 on the season and firmly in contention for the WNBA playoffs with their sights on a deep postseason run with a healthy Caitlin Clark.
While Clark recovers, the Fever still belong near the top of the WNBA and CBS Sports' most recent WNBA Power Rankings confirm them, putting the Fever at No. 4 in the league.
4. Fever
Caitlin Clark underwent further evaluations on her groin injury in New York which revealed no further damage, but she remains sidelined without a return date. Despite her absence, the Fever closed the week with two wins over the Aces and Sky to climb into sixth place and gain some much-needed breathing room in the playoff picture. Kelsey Mitchell poured in season-high 35 points against the Sky and now has four 35-point games, which is tied for ninth all-time. - Jack Maloney, CBS Sports
Holly Rowe, ESPN's reporter, revealed a timeline for Caitlin Clark's potential return, coming in a few weeks, with the Indiana Fever wanting to be much more cautious than they have been in the past to avoid further setbacks.
"As you look at their schedule, the third week in August provides a few more practice days where that seems like it's realistic. While she does remain day-to-day, that seems like a better timetable for a possible Caitlin Clark return," Rowe said about when Caitlin Clark could return.

"My kids will be wearing it" - Diana Taurasi says Caitlin should be the next WNBA player to have a signature shoe
"My kids will be wearing it" - Diana Taurasi says Caitlin should be the next WNBA player to have a signature shoe originally appeared on Basketball Network. Earlier this year, WNBA stars A'ja Wilson and Angel Reese saw their signature shoes hit the market for the first time. Also, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu announced the arrival of their fourth and third signature shoes, respectively. With the WNBA's surge in popularity, the women's signature shoe game also picked up this year after a period of silence. Because of that, WNBA GOAT Diana Taurasi thinks that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, without a doubt, should be the next player to put her name on her shoe. "Caitlin, of course. Yeah. I mean, I know she has some PEs, little colorways, but you can do that on Nike ID. The next Caitlin shoe should be the next one. And you know, my kids will be wearing it," said Taurasi. CC has a signature shoe deal with Nike The issue with Clark, however, is not that she does not have a signature shoe deal because she has one with Nike. Caitlin signed with the Swoosh brand back when she was still playing college ball for Iowa. In April 2024, CC signed a reported eight-year extension with Nike worth $28 million, including a signature shoe. At the start of the year, CEO Elliott Hill said that they are already working on Caitlin's shoe. "We're working on her signature shoe that will launch, and we're working on her logo and that design," he said. "Having a small team that's focused on women's basketball, it unlocked, we believe, opportunities for the game of basketball and also in product. It becomes an opportunity to grow the overall marketplace by inviting more and more girls into the world of sports. It is an area we'll continue to invest in with tremendous momentum right now." Hill gave no timetable, but based on the latest women's signature shoe that Nike made, it will take quite some time to happen. It can be recalled that A'ja's signature shoe was first announced in May 2024, with her logo unveiled one month later. The A'One officially launched last May 6th, just in time for the start of the 2025 WNBA season. Meanwhile, Kicks Finder reported last June that Nike plans to reveal Caitlin's logo during the Holiday season of 2025. If we use the A'ja timeline, it may be reasonable to expect Clark's shoe to be out late in Kobe shoes for now for CC Meanwhile, Caitlin continues to wear player exclusives of the Nike Kobe Bryant shoe line. Clark has become the unofficial signature athlete of the very popular Kobe shoes. She admitted to being a huge fan of both Bryant and his sneakers, and that she is honored to be wearing them in the WNBA. "I'm a Kobe person, everybody knows that," Clark said. "It's the best shoe, it's not even close. I probably like the Kobe 6s the best, which are the ones I have on right now. I like the 5s as well, but the 6s are kind of my thing. Just to wear his shoe, and obviously what Vanessa has done and their family has done. And continuing his legacy, not only obviously within his shoe, but just that whole foundation and just the Kobe brand is pretty incredible. So, I feel very lucky and fortunate to not only represent Nike, but also their entire family." As early as now, fans and sneakerheads are already excited to see what the CC logo looks like. The WNBA GOAT has even unofficially put her kids, Leo and Isla, on the waitlist story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 8, 2025, where it first appeared.

"I'm not saying this is a good thing to brag about, but that's just how I play" - Caitlin Clark explains why she's not worried about high turnover rate
"I'm not saying this is a good thing to brag about, but that's just how I play" - Caitlin Clark explains why she's not worried about high turnover rate originally appeared on Basketball Network. One of the main criticisms of Caitlin Clark's game is her tendency to commit turnovers. As a point guard, she has the ball in her hands a lot of the time. And while it cannot be denied that she is a prolific passer, she is also error-prone and coughs up the ball more times than many elite point guards do. Right off the bat, Clark tied a league record with 10 losses of possession during her WNBA debut, and she finished her rookie season as the league leader in turnovers. During her recent appearance on Sue Bird's podcast, the Indiana Fever All-Star guard talked about the most criticized part of her game. "I've had those games before, and I'm going to have another eight-turnover game in my career. Like that's just how I played, and people always try to make a big deal about that. If you look up my turnovers in college, I bet I led the NCAA all-time in turnovers in my career. I'm not saying this is a good thing to brag about, but that's just how I play,"Clark said. Caitlin has always been turnover-prone While Clark's college career is best remembered for her passing Pistol Pete Maravich as the NCAA's all-time leading scorer, she also finished her career as Iowa's all-time turnovers leader with 639 giveaways. Although that number did not put her atop the all-time turnovers list, CC ranks third overall in the most career turnovers in the NCAA since 2002-03, behind only Jamierra Faulkner (681) and Dequesha McClanahan (654). Then, in her first year in the pros, Caitlin set the WNBA record for most turnovers in a season with 223, shattering the previous record by a whopping 78, while leading the league with an average of 5.6 lost possessions per game. However, since she also led the league in assists last season, Clark ranked 68th out of 150 qualified players in assist-to-turnover ratio — not bad at all, especially for someone who also topped the league in turnovers. In the limited time she's appeared this season, she's moved up to 53 in this statistical category, and her number has improved from 1.51 to 1.74.A lot of room for improvement Clark admitted to Bird that there is a lot of room for improvement, and she understands that. However, becoming a better player this season is very difficult because she has been in and out of the lineup due to injuries, and when she is healthy, she is on a minutes restriction. Clark acknowledged to Bird that she has plenty of room to improve and is well aware of it. The challenge, however, is that making strides this season has been tough. She's been in and out of the lineup with injuries, and even when healthy, Caitlin was on a minutes restriction. "I feel like I've managed games much better than maybe I did during my rookie year. And that's something that isn't probably always talked about, but like I can find confidence in that. But I think the risk assessment thing, maybe it's a toxic part of me, but I always think it's going to go well, and I throw it and it doesn't go well…" added the prolific guard. In her four July games played, Clark averaged 8.75 assists per game and only 3.25 turnovers per contest. In that span, the Fever posted a 3-1 record, but her injury sidelined her once again. Still, that brief run was enough to show she's capable of story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 10, 2025, where it first appeared.

Caitlin Clark Gets Honest About Potential Post-Retirement Plans
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are still very much alive when it comes to the chase for the WNBA Playoffs. Unfortunately, the superstar guard has been unable to be on the court to help her team make a push to get into the postseason. Following the Fever's win on Saturday night over the Chicago Sky, the team sits at 18-14 on the year. That record places them at No. 3 in the Eastern Conference standings. While there is still hope that Clark can return this season from the groin injury that has been bothering her, there is no guarantee of that becoming a reality. With 12 games remaining on the Fever's regular season schedule, there isn't much time left for her to ramp back up and get into game action. Read more: NBA Legend Doesn't Hold Back About Fever Superstar Caitlin Clark Needless to say, Clark's second season int he WNBA has been a downright disappointment. Even when Clark has played, the nagging injuries have had a major impact on her. She has played in 13 of Indiana's 32 games, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, five rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, while also shooting 36.7 percent overall and connecting on 27.9 percent of her three-point attempts. Clark still has a long career ahead of her whether she returns this season or not. However, she has already started thinking ahead about what she might want to do when she does end her basketball playing career. During her recent interview with WNBA legend Sue Bird, Clark revealed one thing that she could see herself doing after retirement. Clark might want to coach college basketball at some point down the road. "Honestly, like I might go back at one point in my life and coach college basketball," Clark said. With how much Clark loves basketball, it's likely that she will remain around the sport past her playing days. While that could change, it would be entertaining to see Clark coaching on a sideline. Hopefully, some good news comes out soon about Clark's injury and potential return. For now, all the Fever and their fans can do is hope that she gets back to 100 percent in time to help the team make a push come playoff time.
