He said the move would be within the limits set by the courts.
Fadnavis exhorted Sarvajanik Ganesh mandals to create awareness about India's strength showcased to the world through Operation Sindoor and promote the use of indigenous products. This was discussed at a meeting held at the Sahyadri guest house on Wednesday to review the law and order preparedness for the ten-day state festival.
Fadnavis directed that idol makers must be granted five-year permissions, which the artisans must renew every year through the single-window system introduced by the municipal corporation to process these applications.
He instructed civic officials to increase the number of artificial ponds for idol immersions and the number of boats to ferry tall idols to the deep sea for immersion.
"All concessions given to Ganesh festival committees will be continued this year as well," he said, urging mandals to follow the law while celebrating the festival. He pointed out that Eid-e-Milad also falls during the Ganesh festival period, and care should be taken to maintain religious harmony.
In another important decision, Ganesh festival committees who submit a written statement to the administration that their offices are not used for commercial purposes will not have property tax levied on such offices.
The meeting was attended by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, Mumbai suburban guardian minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Iqbal Singh Chahal, additional chief secretary (home), Rashmi Shukla, state director general of police, Deven Bharati, Mumbai police commissioner, BMC municipal commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, principal secretary (Special) Anup Kumar Singh, and Ganesh Dahibavar, president, Sarvajanik Ganesh Festival Coordination Committee.
Commissioners of various municipal corporations attended the meeting through video conference.

PM Modi hoists Tricolour at Red Fort, says this festival of freedom moment of pride in collective achievements

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag and addressed the nation from the ramparts of the iconic Red Fort in the national capital. He said this great festival of freedom is a festival of 140 crore resolutions. 'This festival of freedom is a moment of pride in collective achievements. Every heart is filled with enthusiasm. The nation is continuously strengthening the spirit of unity," he said in his much-awaited address. He said that in 1947, with infinite possibilities and the strength of countless arms, our country became free. 'The aspirations of the nation were taking flight, but the challenges were even greater. Following the principles of revered Bapu, the members of the Constituent Assembly fulfilled a very important responsibility. For the past 75 years, the Constitution of India has been a guiding lighthouse for us,' PM Modi said in his address. The PM said, "On this great festival of independence, I heartily congratulate the people of the country, the lovers of India spread across the world, and our friends." "Today, we are celebrating the 125th anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the first great man to sacrifice his life for the Constitution of India. When we abrogated Article 370 to fulfil the vision of 'One Nation, One Constitution', we gave him a true tribute, " PM Modi said.. Earlier, as the Prime Minister arrived at the ramparts of the Red Fort to lead the nation in celebrating the 79th Independence Day, two Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force flew above the Red Fort and showered flower petals. One flew with the Tiranga, the other displayed a banner of Operation Sindoor. The showstopper of the event is Operation Sindoor -- India's strongest retaliatory action against Pakistan-backed terror bases. Before arriving at the Red Fort, PM Modi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. The theme of this year's celebrations is 'Naya Bharat' and the celebrations serve as a platform to commemorate the continuing rise of a prosperous, secure and bold New India, the government has said.

Op Sindoor testament to India's unwavering resolve to protect its sovereignty, says PM Modi

India celebrated its 79th Independence Day on Friday with a rich tribute to the Armed Forces and a renewed national commitment to building a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, delivering his 12th consecutive address from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort, hailed the success of Operation Sindoor, India's decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. In a speech marked by patriotic fervour and strategic resolve, PM Modi said the mission had struck 'deep into Pakistani territory' and sent a strong message to India's adversaries. 'Our Armed Forces have once again demonstrated their unmatched courage and precision. Operation Sindoor is a testament to India's unwavering resolve to protect its sovereignty,' he declared. This year's Independence Day celebrations were themed 'Naya Bharat', reflecting the country's accelerating journey toward becoming a developed nation by its centenary of independence in 2047. The ceremonial grounds at Gyanpath bore the emblem of Operation Sindoor, with floral decorations echoing the mission's motif. In a dramatic aerial tribute, two Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force showered flower petals over the Red Fort as the Prime Minister hoisted the national flag. One helicopter flew the Tricolour, while the other carried a flag depicting Operation Sindoor, symbolising the nation's gratitude to its Armed Forces. The celebrations drew thousands of attendees, including dignitaries, schoolchildren, and citizens from across the country. Security was tight, and the atmosphere was charged with patriotic pride as cultural performances and military displays unfolded throughout the morning. "The Prime Minister's address also touched upon India's developmental milestones, youth empowerment, and technological advancements,' PM Modi said. As India steps into its 79th year of independence, the twin pillars of national security and inclusive development stood tall at the heart of the celebrations. Operation Sindoor, now etched into the nation's collective memory, served as both a tribute and a rallying cry for a confident, self-reliant India.
