Family of 9 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants apprehended in Delhi
The Delhi Police on Sunday said they had apprehended nine members of a family from Bangladesh, including an infant, from Bharat Nagar, northwest Delhi for allegedly living illegally in India. A smartphone with the banned IMO application that the accused used to contact their relatives in Bangladesh was recovered from them, police said.
The nine illegal immigrants crossed into India through the Cooch Behar border in West Bengal a few months ago, police said. Initially, they lived in Mewat, Haryana, where they worked at a brick manufacturing unit. Fear of getting caught by the Haryana Police brought them to Delhi a few weeks ago. Since then, they frequently changed footpaths and were in the process of securing rented accommodation in their attempt to blend in, said deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Bhisham Singh.
'The Foreigners Cell received information regarding the presence of an illegal Bangladeshi migrant in Bharat Nagar. We conducted a raid on Friday and checked nearly 100 lanes and 50 footpaths. A suspect was apprehended during the raid, and he was interrogated. Initially, he tried to mislead the team members by claiming to be an Indian citizen. However, upon confrontation, he confessed to being a Bangladeshi national. His interrogation led to the apprehension of eight other members of his family: his wife, children, and his 45-day-old grandson,' said Singh, adding that all nine were handed over to the foreigners regional registration office (FRR) for deportation.
The accused were identified as Mohammad Saidul Islam, 45, his wife, Nazma Begum, 42, their sons Nazmul Ali, 23, Apple Ali, 19, and two others who are aged 17 and 8, a daughter aged 6, Nazmul's wife, Azina Begum, 20, and her 45-day-old son.

A key accused in a major bank loan default case involving over Rs 9,000 crore linked to the Kingfisher Airlines, Mallya fled from India in 2016. He faces serious allegations of cheating, criminal conspiracy, money laundering, and the misuse of loan funds provided by a union of Indian banks, led by the State Bank of India (SBI). His companies are under probe by multiple agencies in India, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

A viral social media post claimed that an Indian student was "mercilessly pulled with both hands and legs, cuffed and tied" by US authorities at Newark airport. The post shows the Indian national pinned to the floor and handcuffed in the airport premises. The incident may have happened around June 7. An X user said in a June 8 post that he witnessed "a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport last night— handcuffed, crying, treated like a criminal." "He came chasing dreams, not causing harm. As an NRI, I felt helpless and heartbroken. This is a human tragedy," the user said. He shared some videos and sought the Indian embassy's help in reconciling him with his parents. The harrowing visuals showed the student pinned to the ground as at least four officials held him down. "This poor guy was speaking in Haryanvi language. I could recognise his accent where he was saying 'में पागल नहीं हूँ , ये लोग मुझे पागल साबित करने में लगे हुए हे [I am not mad, there are trying to prove that I am mad],' the user posted in a series of tweets. The student seems "disoriented" during the incident. "This poor kids parent won't know what's happening to him. @IndianEmbassyUS @DrSJaishankar he was to be boarded last night in the same flight with me but he never got boarded. Someone needs to find out what's going on with him at New Jersey authorities. I found him disoriented," the X user said. As the Indian Consulate General took notice of the incident, the witness said in another post, 'This is the power of people! We need this kid back safely ot his parents. thats all. His poor face is still haunting me every moment, and I refuse to rest until I know his current status." "They mercilessly pulled him with both hands and legs, cuffed and tied,' the witness alleged. The Consulate General of India in New York posted on X, saying, "We have come across social media posts claiming that an Indian national is facing difficulties at Newark Liberty International Airport. Kharghar murder-suicide: Pakistani man ‘kills wife, self'; family was set to return home
NAVI MUMBAI: A 45-year-old Pakistani national is suspected to have stabbed to death his wife, also a Pakistani, with a kitchen knife and then died by suicide at their rental flat in Kharghar on Monday. The wife had stab injuries on the neck, back and shoulder. Deepak Surve, senior inspector, Kharghar police, said the man, Notan Das alias Sanjay Sachdeva, was accused of assaulting his wife, Sapna Das (35), in front of some neighbours last month, but the woman refused to lodge a complaint against him. The couple arrived in India with their two minor children on long-term visa more than six months ago. Sapna's sister, Sangeeta Makhija, who is an Indian citizen, took a flat on rent for them in Dolphine Pride Society in Sector 34, Kharghar. Makhija was reportedly taking care of their financial needs. A senior police officer said following the recent hostilities between India and Pakistan, the couple was in the process of completing the administrative formalities of returning home. Surve said when the younger child returned from his coaching class on Monday, he found the main door locked from the inside. His sibling was not at home either. "There was no response to repeated knocks. The child sought the help of a neighbour, who entered the flat through a common balcony. The neighbour found the couple in a pool of blood," said Surve. After last month's alleged assault, Makhija had sought police's help but they expressed helplessness after Sapna refused to file a complaint.
