Kim Kardashian Panics As She Struggles To Breathe In Tight Met Gala Corset
Beauty may be pain, but for , her 2024 Met Gala look took things to a whole new level.
On the latest episode of Hulu's "The Kardashians," the 44-year-old opened up about just how uncomfortable and claustrophobic she felt in her waist-cinching corset, which left her struggling to breathe.
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to suffering for style, having famously worn a corseted Thierry Mugler gown to the 2019 Met Gala and crash-dieted to fit into Marilyn Monroe's dress in 2022.
For fashion's biggest night, Kardashian stepped onto the Met Gala red carpet in a silver brocade corset designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. The structured bodice was paired with an extravagant skirt made from tooled silver metal, featuring flowers, leaves, pearls, mirror fragments, and crystals, which was a dazzling nod to the event's 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion' theme.
While the look was undoubtedly breathtaking, many fans questioned how she managed to squeeze into the corset without crushing her internal organs. As it turns out, Kardashian nearly did just that.
At the start of the episode, Kardashian appeared confident and upbeat about her controversial fashion choice.
'I'm not as uncomfortable as I might look,' she assured viewers. 'It's definitely a performance piece. I mean, God bless the Bridgerton cast that has to dress like this every single day. That would be so difficult.'
But her optimism quickly faded as the night went on.
After the event, while standing inside a limo with close friend La La Anthony, Kardashian began to panic when she realized she couldn't get the corset off. As Anthony struggled to help loosen the constricting garment, Kardashian's discomfort spiraled into full-blown distress.
'I am claustrophobic,' she confessed in a confessional. 'I've never felt this way before, where I feel like I can't breathe.'
The discomfort became overwhelming. 'It's like I can handle it for so long, but I have to pee, I can't breathe, I can't get this off,' she recalled. 'I was like, I'm going to die if you don't get this off of me right now.'
Back in the limo, Kardashian doubled down on her discomfort. 'I've never been more uncomfortable,' she admitted. 'I really feel like I can't breathe.'
Once back at her hotel, Kardashian finally freed herself from the corset, only to find that her back was bruised and covered in deep indentations from the extreme tightness of the garment.
But despite the pain, panic, and physical toll, Kardashian had zero regrets about wearing the eye-catching ensemble. 'Abso-f-cking-lutely,' she told the cameras when asked if the look was worth it.
Ultimately, she summed up her dedication to fashion in one simple statement, 'That's just who I am. If you look good, it's all worth it.'
Kim Kardashian made headlines at the 2022 Met Gala when she stepped onto the red carpet in Marilyn Monroe's legendary 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President' dress, a historic fashion moment that quickly turned into a heated controversy.
The dress, designed by Jean Louis and originally worn by Marilyn Monroe in 1962, became an iconic piece of pop culture history when Monroe serenaded President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden. The gown, made of sheer, nude-colored fabric and hand-embroidered with over 2,500 crystals, was famously so tight that Monroe had to be sewn into it before performing.
It was later purchased by Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum for $4.8 million in 2016, making it one of the most expensive dresses ever sold at auction.
Kim Kardashian, known for going all out for the Met Gala, was determined to wear the actual 60-year-old garment, but there was one problem. It didn't fit.
Instead of choosing an alternative, Kardashian embarked on an extreme crash diet, revealing that she lost 16 pounds in three weeks to fit into the dress. 'I tried it on, and it didn't fit me. I said, 'Give me three weeks,'' she told Vogue. 'It was like a role. I was determined to fit into it.'
Her transformation involved cutting out carbs and sugar completely, running on a treadmill in a sauna suit, and strictly eating clean meals. While some praised the tribute to Monroe, others were outraged by Kardashian's decision to alter her body just to fit into a historical artifact.

‘Bridgerton' star Simone Ashley's role in Brad Pitt's ‘F1' cut from final film
Left in the dust. Simone Ashley's role in Brad Pitt's upcoming 'F1' racing movie has been cut from the final film – even though the 'Bridgerton' star shot an entire storyline for the project. Director Joseph Kosinski explained the reason behind the surprising news in an interview published on Monday, June 16. 7 Simone Ashley's role in Brad Pitt's upcoming 'F1' racing movie has been cut from the final film. Getty Images 7 Ashley was set to appear in a larger role alongside Brad Pitt in 'F1.' Getty Images for IWC 'It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use,' Kosinski, 51, told People. 'There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn't make it into the final cut.' She does, however, briefly appear onscreen but has no lines. Still, the director praised the Netflix star for her acting chops. 'But Simone, she's an incredible talent, incredible actress, incredible singer, and I would love to work with her again,' he added. It was first announced that Ashley, 30, was cast in the Formula 1 racing drama in July 2024. 7 'It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use,' director Joseph Kosinski said regarding why Ashley's role was cut. 'I have a very small part, but I'm grateful to be in that movie,' she told Elle on June 6. 'I got to experience many Grands Prix. I don't think I'll ever do anything like that again.' Like, you'd see on the call sheet eight minutes to get this one thing because we were shooting alongside the races.' 7 'It's been a long time, and you know, it's Damson and Brad's movie,' Ashley said of her 'very small' role in the new racing movie. New Barbara Walters documentary tells the story of my dear friend
Up close 'View' on Barbara Barbara Walters left us at age 93. Her Tribeca Festival and Imagine Entertainment documentary 'Tell Me Everything' is on Hulu June 23. As teenagers, we'd meet steadily in her father Lou Walters' B'way nightclub the Latin Quarter. Me dating his club's star. She in college. Both of us nobody. In larger life, we lived near one another. We traveled together. I have her Bulgari wristwatch and two mink jackets. Together we sold her diamond jewelry. Her housekeeper now works for me. Once I had her favorite Chinese restaurant charge $1,000 takeout to me. Another birthday, $1,000 in pantyhose. Advertisement I had dinners, lunches with her. My driver Jose drove her. We shared the same doctor. People magazine quotes me: 'She didn't love you if you were nobody. You had to be somebody.' Visiting me was always in hat and dark glasses. Her Havanese dog was named Cha Cha. Summers we'd visit her Hamptons rental. We did Iran, Israel, Argentina, Italy and another dozen countries together. Taking one Italian steamship trip. She to make a speech. Me her Plus One. On our way, a doctor gave me Ambien to sleep. Five milligrams. Airborne, I took a second pill. Forget it. My head fell inside our scrambled egg breakfast. The crew had to tie me to a wheelchair. Up the ramp as the ship's captain saluted Barbara, the crew needed to strap me in and push me. Thrilled Barbara was not. Advertisement Our dining table was in a protected area so nobody'd bother us. Know that a nearby table of 10 shouters were knocking Barbara. We heard. I didn't know what to do. Barbara knew. Finishing dinner she walked over and told them she'd heard every word they said. Three of us friends were buying contiguous homes together in the Plaza Hotel's newly renovated apartment wing — Barbara, Joan Rivers, me. We'd have each other's keys. Always be together, safe, never alone. One by one that idea would not work. Sara Bernstein — behind my own Imagine Entertainment doc and always knows what she's doing — was involved in this one.
