‘I'm a patriot': Pentagon secrets leaker Jack Teixeira defends actions in interview

Yahoo23-05-2025

Jack Teixeira, the now 23-year-old serving a 15-year prison sentence for leaking classified documents on Discord, told 'Good Morning America' in an interview published Thursday morning that he did not regret his actions, and he never intended to harm his country.
Teixeira, of North Dighton, was a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard who had access to top-secret documents as a cyber transport systems specialist at the Otis Air National Guard Base on Joint Base Cape Cod.
Last March, he pleaded guilty to six counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information relating to the national defense.
U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
In the interview with ABC News' Linsey Davis, Teixeira said he felt a need to educate the American people about the country's involvement in Russia's war with Ukraine.
'My intent was to educate the United States populist people about what was going on. It was not to harm the United States or the country because I love my nation. I'm a patriot,' he said. 'I did believe that I needed to educate the people about what was going on because I believe they were being lied to.'
He claimed the Biden administration was pushing false and misleading information about the war, and he wanted to show an 'unvarnished' look at what was taking place.
At the sentencing hearing last November, Teixeira apologized for his actions.
'I understand that all of the responsibility and consequences falls upon my shoulders alone,' he said. 'My behavior has created such a maelstrom.'
'I can't really sum up how contrite I am,' he added.
But in the interview with ABC, Teixeira struck a different tone.
Teixeira said the apology was aimed at family and friends, but he didn't regret leaking the documents, and would do it all again.
'I still believe in my actions,' he said. 'I've tortured myself over and over and over again about what would happen if I didn't do this, or what would happen if this and that. And in reality, it doesn't really matter.'
A lawyer representing Teixeira said at the hearing that his primary motivation was to share his experiences with a group of friends he found on Discord.
Yet Teixeira told Davis that was a 'secondary motivation.'
In the interview, Teixeira accused the Biden administration of politicizing his case. U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Joshua S. Levy, a Biden appointee, prosecuted Teixeira's case.
'I just feel like there are people who have done far worse things as far as what they did with similar information, and they didn't get as bad of a treatment as I did,' he said. 'I think that I was used as a sacrificial lamb, and I was crucified to be made of as an example.'
In a press conference following Teixeira's sentencing, Levy said the full impact of his crime wouldn't be known for years.
Texeira put himself over his country, and in doing so violated one of the core tenets of public service, Levy said.
'Jack Teixeira made the deliberate choice day after day, week after week, year over a year, to share the nation's secrets that were entrusted to him and make them available to all comers,' he said. 'He was callous to the fact that he put our national security at risk.'
'Today, Mr. Teixeira has paid a very heavy price for the laws he broke, or for the incredible damage that he caused,' Levy continued.

Democrats made themselves toxic — now they're addicted to their own poison

A few Democratic officeholders, activists and pundits are finally coming to their senses that their brand is toxic to a majority of the American people. The Biden administration killed what was left of it in a number of ways. First, it serially lied to Americans about the cognitive decline and cancerous condition of President Joe Biden, both while in and after office. Advertisement Only when caught did the complicit media 'fess up that the Biden inner circle serially misled the American people about Biden's inability to fulfill the duties of the presidency. Second, left-wing politicos used Biden as a waxen effigy. His job was to pose as a 'moderate' cover to push through the most radical and unpopular agenda in the last half-century. Advertisement Only that way could 'Old Joe Biden from Scranton' and his backroom handlers ram down the throat of the American people unpopular policies that nearly wrecked the country. Third, without either a functional president or viable initiatives, the new hard-left Democrats sought to brand Donald Trump as 'Hitler' and half the country who supported him as 'fascists.' For nearly nine years, the Democrats launched one failed hoax after another on the American people: 'Russian collusion,' 'laptop disinformation,' and the lying so-called '51 intelligence authorities.' They proved quite willing to undermine the rule of law by manipulating the court system in efforts to destroy their bogeyman, Trump. Advertisement The people are finally tired of all the potty-mouthed Democrat videos, the congressional stunts and meltdowns, the pampered rich kids rioting on elite campuses, the knee-jerk obsessions with racial slurs, the firebombing of Tesla dealerships, the romanticization of left-wing political murderers — and always the adolescent tantrums over Trump. The Democrats had mostly given up on democracy some 13 years ago. That was the last time they transparently and democratically nominated Barack Obama a second time as their presidential candidate. Ever since, their nominations have been rigged. In 2020, party insiders — terrified of the left-wing crazy primary field — forced out all the leading contenders. Advertisement Then they coronated the debilitated but still supposedly useful moderate Biden as their COVID-era candidate. Biden bragged that he would pick his vice president on the basis of race and gender. What followed was the most bizarre campaign in history. Biden stayed put in his basement and outsourced his candidacy to the partisan media. Next, in 2024, they forced the now no longer useful Biden off the ticket, nullifying his 14 million primary voters. Then, without a vote, they rammed in inept Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee. As a failed candidate in 2020, she had never won a single delegate. Some in the party now concede it must roust out its radicals. But Democrats will not. AOC and her Squad, the unhinged Jasmine Crockets of the party, and the ossified socialist Bernie Bros would demonize any Democrat who offered a sane reboot. Advertisement A few fossils in the party may think they know how to save it. But they are terrified that the medicine would be considered far worse than the illness that prompted it. Would Democrats consider embracing measured and legal-only immigration? No — the crazy base would scream 'xenophobe!' A return to meritocracy and the Martin Luther King notion of race as incidental, not essential, to who we are? Advertisement That would be called 'racist.' Maybe reforms to fix failed schools with vouchers, school choice and charter schools? Again, 'racist!' How about developing gas and oil reserves and nuclear power to lower energy costs for the struggling middle class? Advertisement That would be condemned as 'destroying the planet.' Restore police forces, end critical race and legal theory, and deter criminals with tough sentencing? How about ceasing the whiny fixations with 'white privilege' and 'white rage?' Or quit seeing a 'white supremacist' under every bed? Advertisement Again and again, 'racist!' The left created DEI — the use of race to adjudicate every political issue. And like any addictive, toxic drug, they now can neither survive with DEI — nor without it. Victor Davis Hanson is a distinguished fellow of the Center for American Greatness.

Immigration Research Shows Stephen Miller Wrong About American Science

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller attends a press briefing at the White House on ... More February 20, 2025. Miller, the chief architect of the Trump administration's immigration policy, argues that American scientific achievement owes little to immigrants. A significant body of research disputes that contention. (Photo by) Stephen Miller, the chief architect of the Trump administration's immigration policy, said recently that American scientific achievement owes little to immigrants. A significant body of research disputes that contention. Miller's argument and a statement by Vice President JD Vance about the Apollo Program seem designed to justify the administration's restrictions on international students and high-skilled immigrants. On May 31, 2025, in a statement on White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller wrote, 'During the middle of the 20th century—when the U.S. achieved unquestioned global scientific dominance—there was net zero migration. From the 20's to the 70's the foreign-born population was cut almost by half while the overall population doubled. (Until Hart-Celler kicked in).' Contrary to the implication of Miller's statement, American science owes a great deal to immigrants in the post-war period. Between 1945 and 1974, 16 of the 30 U.S. winners of the Nobel Prize in physics were immigrants, according to a National Foundation for American Policy analysis. In 1954, the Atomic Energy Act established an award recognizing scientific achievements in atomic energy. Italian-born Enrico Fermi won the first award. Five of the first eight winners of what became the Enrico Fermi Award (named after his death) were immigrants. Four of the nuclear scientists who came to the United States from Europe in the 1930s later received a Nobel Prize for physics: Felix Bloch, born in Switzerland, won it in 1952, Emilio Segre (Italy) in 1959, and Maria Mayer (Poland) and Eugene Wigner (Hungary) won the award in 1963. Despite the immigration restrictions imposed by Congress in 1921 and 1924, U.S. universities and others found ways around some of the quotas as fascist governments drove many brilliant individuals out of Europe. Immigrants Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard signed a letter used by Russian-born economist Alexander Sachs to convince President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to start the Manhattan Project. Breakthroughs by Niels Bohr, born in Denmark, and Enrico Fermi were crucial in developing the atomic bomb. In the end, immigrant and U.S.-born scientists working together turned theory into reality in the race to build the bomb before Nazi Germany. Between 1945 and 1974, 15 of the 36 U.S. Nobel Prizes in medicine, or 42%, were awarded to immigrants. That tells only part of the story. Albert Sabin, an immigrant from Poland, and Jonas Salk, the son of an immigrant, developed the vaccines that ended polio as a threat to Americans. Both men were in America due to family immigration. 'Without Sabin and Salk, American children would continue to be paralyzed for life by polio,' Michel Zaffran, director of polio eradication at the World Health Organization, said in an interview. 'Their contribution is quite simply immeasurable.' Immigrants have been awarded 40% of the Nobel Prizes won by Americans in chemistry, medicine and physics since 2000, according to an NFAP analysis (updated through the 2024 awards). Enrico Fermi in His Laboratory (Photo by © CORBIS/Corbis via Getty Images) The 1924 Immigration Act, which reduced the flow of immigrants by approximately 90% and blocked Jews, Eastern Europeans and Asians, proved disastrous economically for America. According to research by New York University economists Petra Moser and Shmuel San, the restrictive immigration quotas of the 1920s significantly reduced invention in the United States. 'After the quotas, U.S. scientists produced 68% fewer additional patents in the pre-quota fields of ESE-born [Eastern and Southern European immigrant] scientists compared with the pre-quota fields of other U.S. scientists,' write Moser and San. 'Time-varying effects show a large decline in invention by U.S. scientists in the 1930s, which persisted into the 1960s.' Moser and San said the results show that U.S. scientists benefited from the presence of immigrant scientists but suffered after U.S. immigration restrictions blocked their entry. 'A firm-level analysis of changes in patenting reveals that firms which employed ESE-born [Eastern and Southern European immigrant] scientists in 1921 created 53% fewer inventions after the quotas,' according to Moster and San. 'A text analysis of U.S. patents indicates that invention also declined more broadly. After the quotas, 23% fewer U.S. patents describe inventions in ESE [Eastern and Southern European immigrant] fields compared with other fields.' UPENN Wharton economics professor Zeke Hernandez said one would expect similar consequences today should U.S. immigration policy block the entry of international students and foreign-born scientists and engineers. 'America's innovation machine would be decimated,' said Hernandez. 'Sixteen percent of inventors in the U.S. are foreign-born, but they account for 36% of all patents.' He points out immigrants are 80% more likely than the U.S.-born to start new businesses, and they are founders of over half of startups that achieve a $1 billion valuation. Over 70% of the full-time graduate students in key technical fields at U.S. universities are foreign-born. According to economist Zeke Hernandez, 'You don't have to have compassion for foreigners to know that getting rid of immigrants is bad for us.'

Trump shares wild conspiracy theory that Joe Biden was replaced by ‘soulless, mindless' clones

President Trump shared a wild conspiracy theory late Saturday that claimed former President Joe Biden had actually been executed in 2020 and was replaced by 'soulless, mindless' clones. Without commenting on the merits of the bonkers conspiracy theory, Trump shared a post on Truth Social from llijh, a little-known user with fewer than 1,000 followers. 'There is no #JoeBiden – executed in 2020. #Biden clones doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities are what you see. >#Democrats dont know the difference,' the post claimed. It is unclear why Trump shared the post, but he is known for trolling is critics on social media. 3 President Trump met his predecessor in person earlier this year. White House Photo by Adam Schultz 3 There is no evidence that former President Joe Biden is actually a clone. REUTERS Trump last met Biden in person roughly five months ago during Inauguration Day, and shared the debate stage with him in both 2020 and 2024. Since then, the president has frequently bashed his predecessor, who is now subject to renewed scrutiny over his mental acuity amid the release of 'Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.' Trump has publicly suggested that Biden wasn't fully in control of his administration, due to his use of autopen to sign key documents, something that Republicans on the House Oversight Committee are investigating. 'I think the autopen is going to become one of the great scandals of all time,' Trump said on Friday during an Oval Office event with tech baron Elon Musk. 'He's been a sort of a moderate person over his life, and a smart person, but somewhat vicious person, I will say, if you feel sorry for him, don't feel so sorry because he's vicious.' Congressional Republicans, led by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), have been investigating Biden's health while he served as commander in chief. Comer had summoned five confidants of Biden to answer questions about the 46th president's health. Biden's team announced last month that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. Despite that, the former president is optimistic about his prognosis. 3 President Trump has a history of sharing outlandish posts on his social media. AP 'We're going to be able to beat this,' Biden told reporters in New Castle, Delaware on Friday, noting that he's begun treatment. 'We're working on everything, it's moving along. I feel good,' 'All the folks are optimistic.'
