"44 MLAs Ready To Form Manipur Government": BJP MLA After Meeting Governor
Mr Radheshyam made the statement on Wednesday, after he and nine other MLAs met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
"All 44 MLAs have agreed to form a popular government as per the wishes of the people. MLAs are ready to form the government. We have conveyed this to the governor. We also discussed possible solutions for issues (plaguing the state). 10 MLAs visited the governor as representatives to explain our position... the final decision will be taken by the central leadership," the legislator from Heirok assembly constituency said.
"The governor took note of what we said and assured us he will take whatever action is in the best interest of the people," he said.
Manipur has been under President's Rule since February after Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned. Mr Singh had been under fire for his handling of the violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities, which broke out in May 2023 and has claimed over 260 lives and left thousands displaced.
The Manipur Assembly has a strength of 60, of which one seat is vacant. The BJP-led coalition consists of 44 MLAs, 37 of whom are from the party.

'I will not make allegations against anyone, but it is a fact that 350,000 voters were removed from the list…One of them was my maternal nephew. Even those from my family were removed (from the voters' list),' Gadkari is heard saying after the interviewer asked if the names were deleted to weaken his position in Nagpur. The fact that such allegations were levelled by two different people from two different parties, by those who held 'high positions politically and socially' proved that vote theft did take place, Thakur said. The three-term former MLA from the Teosa assembly seat in Amravati told Hindustan Times that the BJP resorted to vote theft whenever it did not want certain entities to win. 'They must have done the same thing with Gadkari ji,' she said. Thakur also said that on average, her constituency Teosa saw an increase of about 5,000 voters every year. 'But in 2019 and 2024, large numbers of voters were deleted from the list and the population of my constituency also reduced. Do you think that is possible,' she wondered. Thakur won the 2019 assembly poll but lost the 2024 election to the BJP's Rajesh Wankhade by 7,617 votes.

Railways unable to complete over 69 projects in Bengal due to land issues: Union minister
Union minister Sukanta Majumdar on Sunday claimed that the Railways are unable to complete and commission more than 69 projects in West Bengal due to land availability issues. 'There is no dearth of funds, but the Railways are unable to complete and commission more than 69 projects in West Bengal owing to land availability issues,' he told reporters after inaugurating an AC EMU service at Sealdah railway station here. Asserting that the Railways will provide the requisite funds for completion of the projects, Majumdar said, 'We want the West Bengal government to rise above politics to provide land for these, as it concerns the interest of 10 crore people of the state. It is about the development of the state,' he said. Majumdar also urged the West Bengal government to send a proposal for renaming the Sealdah railway station after Sangh ideologue Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. 'We will certainly get the proposal sanctioned from the central government to change the station's name to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Sealdah Terminus,' he said. Hitting out at Majumdar's proposal of renaming Sealdah station, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said: 'If Sealdah station is to be renamed, let it be renamed commemorating Swami Vivekananda. After his famous speech in Chicago, when Swami Vivekananda came back, he reached Sealdah station first.' At Dumdum station, where Mazumdar got off the train, TMC and BJP workers engaged in a heated war of words and sloganeering. BJP begins Tiranga marches across Kashi
Varanasi: To mark the launch of its 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday started carrying out Tiranga Yatra (marches) in each of its 33 divisional units in the district. The party aimed to ensure the hoisting of the national tricolour at each building. Under the BJP's Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, all the divisional units, including 13 in rural areas, started carrying out Tiranga Yatras on Sunday morning. Alongside this, a special drive to clean monuments of the freedom fighters and places related to the independence movement was also launched. BJP Kashi regional unit President Dilip Patel said that to ensure that the national flag is hoisted at all homes and business establishments, the party has finalised a series of campaigns.
