Sam Ponder Shows True Character With Comment On Kirk Herbstreit

Sam Ponder, the former Sunday NFL Countdown host and College GameDay reporter, was fired by ESPN ahead of the 2024 football season. It would be understandable for the Liberty University graduate to hold some animosity toward the network and her former colleagues, given how her tenure at ESPN ended.

The New York City resident hasn't worked in TV since she was fired. Some have speculated that Ponder, who leans right on many social and political issues, was let go due to her politics. ESPN maintains that she was let go due to budgetary cuts, as she was making north of $1 million to host a once-a-week show in the fall.
'I don't believe that anything is just budget cuts anymore,' former NFL sideline reporter Michele Tafoya, who worked at ESPN from 2000-2011, said. 'I think that they clearly wanted to find an off-ramp for Sam. What's troubling to me is the timing.
'This is three weeks before the NFL season begins. Her show, Sunday NFL Countdown, is coming off its best ratings year in quite some time. So I don't know why they would do this so close to the season and bring so much attention, unless they want to bring in the next host and give that host a lot of attention.'

(Photo by Thaddaeus McAdams/WireImage)Ponder, though, showed her true character this week, when she was asked about her time at ESPN, specifically College GameDay. She had nothing but good things to say.

"Do you ever talk to the college gameday guys anymore?" a fan asked Ponder.
She responded: "David Pollack is stuck with me as the big brother I never (jk) wanted, and I was texting with Kirk Herbstreit the day before I got fired. 🤣 Rece Davis is my forever favorite. I'll never forget how all 3 of them loved Jesus and treated people. I will be a college gameday fan as long as they continue to make it about the people. It's such a special show."
It would be understandable if Ponder, who is enjoying time off while raising her three kids in New York, had negative things to say about ESPN - or her former colleagues. However, she chose to take the high road, doing nothing but complimenting her former show and network.
Ponder is rightfully being praised for her classy remarks on Herbstreit and the rest of the College GameDay crew.

The ESPN college football pregame show, meanwhile, will get back on the air on Saturday, Aug. 30, live from Columbus.

Lauren Sánchez's net worth: A look at her wealth as she marries Jeff Bezos
Before Lauren Sánchez met Jeff Bezos, she already had a career as a TV reporter, helicopter pilot, and occasional actress. She dated an NFL player, married a talent agent, and lived in a multimillion-dollar Beverly Hills mansion. But Sánchez's fortune completely changed when she was introduced to Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos. While the exact date of their first meeting isn't clear, they were known to run into each other at Hollywood events, and their casual friendship quickly blossomed into romance-even though they were married to other people. After the couple's scandalous debut (and their respective divorces) in 2019, Sánchez and Bezos embarked on a very public relationship that put their wealth on ostentatious display. They were often seen in the front row at fashion shows, attending the Met Gala in 2024, and partying with A-list friends like Katy Perry, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, and Kris Jenner. Sánchez was photographed wearing expensive jewelry gifted from Bezos, and she frequently posted on social media about their lavish vacations aboard Bezos' $500 million superyacht, "Koru." In fact, that's where Bezos proposed to Sánchez in May 2023, leaving a brilliant 30-carat pink diamond ring under her pillow. The brilliant, cushion-cut gem, set in a platinum band, is estimated to be worth between $3 and $5 million, leaving little to wonder about why Sánchez "blacked out a bit" when she discovered it. But ever since Sánchez said "100% yes" to becoming Mrs. Jeff Bezos, the media frenzy has only intensified. After false reports of a winter wedding in Aspen, the setting of their impending nuptials has been narrowed down to Venice, Italy, with an estimated date of June 27, 2025. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter The Mayor of Venice even released a statement dispelling some of the rumors, adding that there will only be 200 guests in attendance and that the couple promised that the event won't disturb the fragile city's historic architecture. But Sánchez has insisted that she's just "like every other bride," telling People she even "has a Pinterest board" for ideas as she plans what sounds like the wedding of every girl's dream: One with an unlimited budget. So, what's Lauren Sánchez's net worth? According to Celebrity Net Worth, Lauren Sánchez has an estimated net worth of $30 million in 2025. It's unclear how much of that she has made herself, since the website does not provide specifics on Sánchez's salary or career earnings. However, it does report that Sánchez's first husband, Patrick Whitesell, has a net worth "north of $300 million," due to his role as partner at WME, the William Morris Endeavor talent agency, which represents a roster of film stars, including Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Ryan Reynolds, and Denzel Washington. Related: Jeff Bezos' net worth: How Amazon's founder spends his billions WME also owns the Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, a major global sports brand as well as the world's largest mixed martial arts organization. UFC events are watched by millions of people on pay-per-view streaming channels, so you can see how Whitesell amassed such wealth. People reported that when Sánchez and Whitesell divorced in 2019, they divided up their property according to the prenuptial agreement they had in place. Since Sánchez already seems to be familiar with prenups, she may not have had an issue signing one with Bezos. According to Evolve Media, Bezos has a "watertight" prenup in place ahead of his wedding to Sánchez. Evolve cited a source by a Hollywood attorney named Alphonse Provinziano, who leaked details of their agreement to the media, comparing its complexity to a "business merger," and stating that it would "survive any legal challenge." Provinziano went on to say that Bezos made the resources of a legal team available to Sánchez so that she could understand the "complex accounting arrangements and business deals he's involved in," in the hopes that, should they divorce in the future, she would be unable to claim that "he hid certain assets from her." On December 19, 1969, Lauren Wendy Sánchez was born. Both of her parents were pilots. Her father, Ray Sánchez, later became a businessman in the aviation industry, while her mother, Eleanor, was also Los Angeles' former Assistant Deputy Mayor. Sánchez is a third-generation Mexican American, and she was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a cheerleader at Del Norte High School, Sánchez struggled in school. She graduated in 1987 and went on to study acting and speech at the University of New Mexico before moving to California and transferring to El Camino College. There, a professor diagnosed Sánchez as dyslexic, giving her a pocket dictionary as a tool to aid her writing. "It changed my life," she later told The Daily Mail, "I went from barely a 2.0 student to the dean's list and got a scholarship to USC." Sánchez majored in communications at USC, and while in college, she interned at Los Angeles' TV station KCOP-TV. In 1994, she was offered a full-time job as a reporter at KTVK in Phoenix, Arizona, and her career began. Related: Who is Mark Zuckerberg's wife? Everything to know about Priscilla Chan The 5'3" reporter next had a stint as an entertainment reporter on the syndicated entertainment news show "Extra." She later co-hosted "Good Day LA" and was also an anchor on "Fox 11 News at Ten." But entertainment wasn't her only interest. As an avid sports fan, Sánchez also held jobs as an anchor and correspondent for Fox Sports Net. She received an Emmy nomination for the sports talk show "Going Deep" and was a reporter on "The Best Damn Sports Show Period." Sánchez didn't only work as a reporter on TV; she also appeared in films as one, too. Her credits include small parts in 1999's "Fight Club" starring Brad Pitt; 2005's "Fantastic Four," "Akeelah and the Bee" (2006), "College Road Trip" (2008), and "Ted 2" (2015), to name a few. In 2000, Sánchez auditioned for a co-hosting seat on "The View," but ultimately lost out to journalist Lisa Ling. Although she was crushed, Sánchez later revealed that she did take a valuable lesson from the experience-from none other than Barbara Walters herself. The veteran broadcaster noticed that Sánchez had traded her usually glamorous, form-fitting attire for a more conservative look, and asked her what she was thinking. Sánchez recounted Walters' advice to her, saying "If you're going to go down, go down as yourself. Because if you don't go down as yourself, you're going to beat yourself up twice." In 2005, Sánchez was offered the chance to host the popular FOX show "So You Think You Can Dance?," although she left after one season to focus on her children. In 2009, in celebration of her 40th birthday, Sánchez made a career pivot and obtained her helicopter pilot's license. In 2016, she founded Black Ops Aviation, the first woman-owned aerial film and production company. In 2018, Bezos' aerospace company, Blue Origin, hired Black Ops Aviation to film footage of its space travel adventures, although the two were rumored to have met a few years earlier, possibly as early as 2016, at an Amazon Studios party for the film "Manchester by the Sea." Lauren Sánchez has been in the news a lot recently-and not just for her highly anticipated wedding. Why did Lauren Sánchez go to space? On April 14, 2025, Sánchez led an all-female crew on a 10-minute suborbital space flight aboard Blue Origin's NS-31 self-flying rocket. The crew, which reached an altitude of 65 miles above the Earth, consisted of Sánchez, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, TV personality Gayle King, and pop star Katy Perry, received widespread media attention-although little of it was positive. Critics decried the move as little more than a vanity project for a billionaire and his girlfriend-tone-deaf at a time of widespread economic disparity-and memes and parodies on social media were quick to follow. Why was Lauren Sánchez at the Presidential Inauguration? On January 20, 2025, Sánchez appeared alongside her boyfriend at the Inauguration of President Donald Trump. They were part of a group of billionaires known as the "New Oligarchs," which included Apple's CEO Tim Cook, Alphabet's CEO Sundar Pichai, and Tesla's CEO Elon Musk. Trump had offered them seats of honor-in front of his own cabinet picks, which was seen by many as controversial. But Sánchez's outfit ruffled even more feathers, since she chose to wear a cleavage-baring white corset with a suit jacket to what is normally viewed as a conservative political occasion. More on wealth: Elon Musk's net worth: Inching toward trillionaire statusMark Zuckerberg's net worth: What the Facebook founder makes as CEO of MetaTim Cook's net worth: How much the Apple CEO's stock is worth Sánchez favors form-fitting designer clothing that showcases her curves. As a natural beauty who participated in beauty pageants as a teenager, she was later named one of "People's Most Beautiful" in 2010 and appeared in US Weekly's "Hot Bodies" issue. But in recent years, Sánchez has been criticized for her increasingly plasticized appearance, and many believe she's had breast implants and lip injections, although she has neither publicly confirmed nor denied the procedures. Her lips, which seem to inflate with Amazon's earnings, have been particularly scrutinized-leading people to ask Google, "Can Lauren Sánchez close her mouth?" Sánchez has been engaged numerous times, accepting rings from the late sports broadcaster Rory Markas and Baltimore Ravens' wide receiver Anthony Miller. In addition, she and Kansas City Chiefs' tight end Tony Gonzalez had a four-year relationship that ended in 2002; in 2001, she gave birth to his son, Nikko. They have maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship. Sánchez dated "NYPD Blue" actor Henry Simmons from 2002–2003. After saying "yes" to his marriage proposal, the couple owned a home in Manhattan Beach, Calif., before eventually breaking things off. Allegedly, Sánchez started seeing Patrick Whitesell while they were still living together. Sánchez and Whitesell met through mutual friends in 2005; their August wedding was a celebrity affair attended by Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Hugh Jackman, and, of course, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Sánchez and Whitesell had two children together, son Evan (born 2006) and daughter Eleanor (b. 2008), before filing for divorce in April 2019. Under the terms of their agreement, which was finalized that October, they share joint custody of both children. Another rumor going around contends that Whitesell himself may have introduced Sánchez to Bezos, as he had suggested that they "work together on a documentary." Sánchez and Whitesell bought a Beverly Hills mansion for $11 million in 2006. In 2017, they purchased an adjoining lot for $4.5 million; it had been owned by the late director Tony Scott. Fast forward to 2021, and Bezos and Sánchez were part of a private transaction that purchased a sprawling compound on the Hawaiian island of Maui for $78 million. In addition to a 4,500-square-foot home, the 14-acre spread includes a separate guesthouse, outdoor kitchen, pool, private beach, and expansive Pacific Ocean views. But Bezos and Sánchez's main residence is actually on the other side of the country, in the Sunshine State of Florida. The couple owns a series of properties in Miami's exclusive Indian Creek neighborhood, known as the Billionaire Bunker. Their three-mansion compound is worth a combined $238 million, and their neighbors include Tom Brady, Ivanka, and Jared Kushner. In April 2025, Bezos sold the home he had purchased after divorcing his first wife, Mackenzie Scott. The sprawling 9,420-square-foot abode sold for $63 million, making it the most expensive home ever sold in Washington state. Bezos is rumored to have relocated to Florida to avoid paying the capital gains tax. How to Watch FOX in the UK in 2025: Complete Guide
Missing The Simpsons reruns? Or maybe it's the NFL doubleheader or Tucker's replacement on FOX News that has you searching for a workaround. Whatever the reason, if you're in the UK, you've probably already hit the same wall: 'This content is not available in your region.' FOX, like many US-based networks, geo-blocks its content aggressively. With nearly 70% of streamers relying on VPNs to access restricted content, it's no surprise that viewers abroad are turning to smarter tools instead of giving up. The good news? Watching FOX in the United Kingdom is easier than ever, if you know what to use and how to bypass geo-filters. We'll help you choose services (like NordVPN) that stay under the radar, all broken down into easily digestible steps. Table of Contents If you've ever seen the dreaded geoblock message on any streaming service, you should know that it's not a bug, it's a business decision. Like most US-based broadcasters, FOX operates under strict licensing agreements that limit where their content can legally be shown. Networks don't own all the rights to every show or event they air. Instead, they license certain programs, live sports, and even news segments to different distributors across the globe. That means the same NFL game you see on FOX in the US might be exclusive to Sky Sports in the UK. So to stay compliant (and avoid million-dollar lawsuits), FOX geoblocks its streams outside the US. That includes: These blocks are enforced through your IP address, which reveals your location the moment you hit the site or app. If you don't have an IP address located in the US, you're cut off, regardless of whether you pay for the service or not. There are a few ways to stream FOX from the UK, some sketchier than others, and most with serious strings attached. Here's what we found while testing each method, and why a solid US VPN like NordVPN remains the most reliable workaround. Sure, if you dig deep enough into Reddit or streaming forums, you'll find links to unofficial streams of FOX shows or sports events. But here's the deal: most are riddled with pop-ups, trackers, and malware. Many also get taken down mid-stream, and let's not even talk about the video quality. Verdict: Not secure, not legal, not worth it. There's no legitimate UK service like Sky, Virgin, or Freeview that includes FOX programming straight out of the box. You won't find FOX Now, FOX News, or FOX Sports in any standard UK subscription package. To access FOX content, you'll need both a US media subscription and a VPN to unlock it. Verdict: Less FOX content, and the account setup is messy. Smart DNS can trick streaming sites into thinking you're in the US without encrypting your traffic. It's faster than a VPN in some cases, but far less secure, and not all services support FOX reliably. Plus, you often need to manually configure it on each device. Verdict: Works for some apps, but not foolproof, and no encryption is a big downside. A premium VPN masks your IP, encrypts your data, and routes your traffic through a US server. This makes it appear like you're streaming from, say, New York or San Francisco, even if you're in London. And when it comes to FOX apps like FOX Now, FOX Sports, or FOX News, a VPN is the only consistent way to get full access in HD. We tested multiple VPNs to access FOX channels in the UK, and NordVPN came out on top. It runs massive infrastructure in the US, with over 1,970 servers across the country. And best of all, it's risk-free for 30 days, so you can try it with FOX without committing. As tempting as it may be, avoid even the best free VPNs with U.S. servers. After testing most of them, we found that they all get detected and blocked by FOX. On top of that, they can't guarantee good speeds, meaning your streaming experience will likely suffer. Unblock FOX with NordVPN Getting FOX up and running in the UK with a VPN is surprisingly easy, with no shady tricks or DNS hacks needed. Just follow these simple steps: The hard truth is, most VPNs out there aren't built for streaming, and definitely not for FOX. Some get you stuck on error screens, others throttle your speeds down, and a few just don't work with FOX at all. We tested over a dozen VPNs specifically to access FOX, FOX News, and FOX Sports from the UK. The ones below aren't just fast and secure, they actually unlock the FOX apps without constant troubleshooting. Let's start with the top contender. We tried over a dozen VPNs with FOX apps in the UK, and NordVPN stood out as the one that just worked with fast servers, no manual DNS tweaking, and instant access to every FOX platform we threw at it. Flawless Access to FOX's Entire Lineup: Whether we were streaming FOX Now, FOX News Live, or sports via FOX Sports, NordVPN gave us uninterrupted, HD playback from the get-go. Without any proxy errors or weird logouts, it was all smooth streaming through US servers in New York, Miami, and Atlanta. That's thanks to SmartPlay, NordVPN's built-in streaming enhancer. It automatically bypasses geo-blocks without you having to fiddle with settings or switch protocols. Just hit connect, open the FOX app or site, and stream away. More US Servers Mean Fewer Headaches: Unlike smaller VPNs that overload a handful of US servers, NordVPN gives you 1,970+ in the States alone. That meant we never had to compete for bandwidth. Even during Sunday NFL games and weekday FOX Prime streaming hours, it stayed stable. Cross-Device Streaming? No Problem: We tested it on everything (Android, iPhone, Smart TV, and desktop – it's the best VPN for Windows PCs). The FOX apps worked across the board. The NordVPN app is clean, fast, and doesn't force us to re-authenticate constantly like some other services. Price: Starts at just around $3/month with long-term plans. And the best part? You get a 30-day money-back guarantee that makes it the most practical 'free' way to stream FOX abroad without gambling on a weak free VPN. Follow these steps to enjoy a free, no-commitment trial of NordVPN. Try NordVPN Now If you want speed and stability while watching FOX Sports or FOX News live in the United Kingdom, ExpressVPN delivers, and does it with zero drama. In our tests, it launched FOX streams faster than most and maintained crisp video quality without any hiccups, even during primetime. Reliable US Server Network Built for Streaming: ExpressVPN has high-speed servers in over 20+ US cities, including Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, and Washington DC, all of which worked with FOX's entire suite of apps. Whether we used the browser version or native iOS and Android apps, geo-blocks were gone instantly. Lightway Protocol Means Consistently Low Ping: We switched over to ExpressVPN's Lightway protocol during testing, and the results were buttery smooth. FOX Sports streams didn't stutter, even during live NBA playoff coverage. That lower latency makes a real difference in live broadcasts, where even a few seconds can ruin the vibe. Apps That Work Everywhere: From smart TVs to mobile devices to Apple TV (with a top-rated VPN app specifically for Apple TV), ExpressVPN's app support is top-tier. There was no need for SmartDNS—we installed the native Apple TV app in seconds and had FOX News streaming live in under a minute. It's one of the easiest setups we've tested on a streaming box. Price: On the higher end at just under $5/month for the long-term plans, but you're paying for pure reliability and ease. The 30-day money-back guarantee still applies, and we got a full refund in under 5 minutes when we tested it. Try ExpressVPN Now If you're after a wallet-friendly VPN that doesn't cut corners, PIA VPN is your guy. It's the only top-tier provider that offers servers in all 50 US states, and that's a huge win for anyone trying to stream FOX from specific regions in the UK. Access Every Local FOX Affiliate: Private Internet Access VPN's massive U.S. footprint means you're not limited to New York or Los Angeles. Want to stream your local FOX Sports affiliate or catch a regional FOX broadcast? PIA likely has a server in your home state, giving you access to local news, sports, and regional programming you won't find elsewhere. That makes it one of the best VPNs for states like Nevada, for example. Streaming-Ready Speeds and No Data Caps: Despite being a budget pick, PIA held its own in testing. FOX News and FOX Sports loaded quickly, and streams ran cleanly at 1080p with no buffering. We ran Private Internet Access on both Android TV and macOS with WireGuard, and even under moderate throttling conditions, it never dipped below 85% of our base speed. Customizable App, But With a Learning Curve: PIA gives you a ton of control, from encryption levels to custom DNS and port forwarding. But beginners might find the settings overwhelming. The best part is that you can just pick a US server, hit connect, and stream FOX within seconds. It works out of the box, even if you don't touch the extras. Price: Easily one of the most affordable VPNs at just over $2/month on long-term plans. You also get a 30-day money-back guarantee, so it's risk-free to test. Try Private Internet Access Now FOX might lock its doors to international viewers, but that doesn't mean you're stuck on the outside. With the right VPN, you can stream The Cleaning Lady, live sports, and local news just like you would back home, and without buffering or weird error messages ruining the vibe. After testing dozens of services, NordVPN came out on top. Its massive US server network (with city-level precision), consistent unblocking of FOX apps, and blazing-fast speeds make it the most reliable way to watch FOX in the UK. If you want uncompromised access, not just to FOX, but also to Hulu, HBO Max, and other U.S. platforms, start with NordVPN. It's the one we trust to unlock any U.S. TV channel or streaming service from anywhere.

Aaron Rodgers' Steelers Predicted To Be ‘Worst Team in NFL'
Aaron Rodgers' Steelers Predicted To Be 'Worst Team in NFL' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. "Why,'' we've been asked, "given all you know about Skip Bayless, spend any time at all writing about him?'' Advertisement Our answer, after knowing the disgraced TV troll? "For the same reason you shine a flashlight on a cockroach in your kitchen.'' The Pittsburgh Steelers' signing of four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers is not a no-brainer and is not without news value and even controversy. ... which includes his freshly-baked decision to play just one more year before calling it quits. The 41-year-old quarterback is a faded talent and a polarizing figure, making this move a magnet for critics … And for trolls. Enter Skip Bayless. In a video posted to his social media platform, the shamed ex-TV shock jock Bayless - now out of work as he is accused in a lawsuit by a former FS1 colleague of offering her $1.5 million to have sex with him - characterizes Rodgers as a "diva" who is 'washed.' Advertisement Bayless then offered a childish pun, claiming Rodgers would "steal from the Steelers." And then the unemployed 72-year-old's attempted bombshell, offered with the transparent desire to get someone to notice him … 'Aaron Rodgers,' Bayless said, 'makes them one of worst, if not THE worst team in the NFL. Those of us who know Bayless personally understand not to take him seriously; he doesn't know if a football is blown up or stuffed. That doesn't make all of his opinions wrong, though. After sustaining a season-ending injury in the first game of 2023, Rodgers appeared in all 17 New York Jets games in 2024 as he totaled 3,897 passing yards and 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. … Advertisement While 'leading' the Jets to a 5-12 record before being dumped into free agency. Conversely, the Steelers finished last season with a 10-7 record and made the playoffs under long-time head coach Mike Tomlin, who has never finished a regular season with a losing record. Will Rodgers make the Steelers better? That's anybody's guess. But the idea that Rodgers is going to turn Pittsburgh into 'the worst team in the NFL' is completely devoid of sports logic … but par for the course for a 'washed' media personality who is done 'stealing' money from networks, advertisers and viewers.
