Saiyaara Advance Bookings: Ahaan Panday's Film Sells 1.90 Lakh Tickets, Eyes Biggest Debut
Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara tells the story of passionate lovers caught in a whirlwind romance marked by emotional highs and crushing lows.
Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, is turning out to be a game-changer at the box office. The romantic musical drama, backed by Yash Raj Films, has recorded phenomenal advance booking numbers, becoming the biggest debut launch in over two decades.
On its opening day, Saiyaara has sold a whopping 1.90 lakh tickets in top national chains—PVR Inox and Cinepolis—setting the stage for a thunderous Day 1. With a few more hours to go before the first show rolls out, the tally is expected to cross 2 lakh tickets, a staggering feat for any film, let alone one with newcomers.
In doing so, Saiyaara has outperformed several star-studded releases in pre-sales. It has already beaten Salman Khan's Sikandar (1.43 lakh tickets), Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 (94,750), Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 (93,000), and Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par (49,750). The only film ahead of Saiyaara in national chain pre-sales this year is Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, which sold 2.23 lakh tickets and opened at a whopping Rs 29.50 crore.
Based on this momentum, Saiyaara is projected to open in the range of Rs 18–20 crore nett in India. If the spot bookings and walk-in audiences align with the buzz, it could even surpass that mark. Trade experts are already calling it the biggest debut film opening in 25 years. The last time debutants drew such hysteria was back in 2000 with Hrithik Roshan's Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai and Abhishek Bachchan's Refugee.
Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara tells the story of passionate lovers caught in a whirlwind romance marked by emotional highs and crushing lows. It boasts a powerful music album by Mithoon, Sachet–Parampara, Vishal Mishra, Faheem Abdullah, Tanishk Bagchi, and Arslan Nizami.
All eyes are now on its critical reception and audience word-of-mouth, which will ultimately determine the film's longevity at the box office.
Saiyaara releases in theatres tomorrow, July 18.
