Popular Target Bakery Item Recalled Across 5 States

Yahoo20-03-2025
Dessert Holdings, LLC has recalled a popular Target Favorite Day bakery item due to mislabeling. The Favorite Day Gourmet New York-Style Cheesecake has been recalled because the cheesecake contains pecans, but the packaging does not disclose that it contains tree nuts, one of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) required labels.
The recall was initiated on March 20 after the manufacturer received a customer complaint about the mislabeling. However, there have been no illnesses or allergic reactions reported at this time.
The recalled Favorite Day Gourmet New York-Style Cheesecake was sold at Target stores in California, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, and Texas between Feb. 14, 2025, and March 7, 2025. You can verify if you have the recalled cheesecake by looking for the lot code 25028A1 000039133 and UPC 0 85239 09690 1 on the side of the plastic clamshell.
You can find product images in the recall press release.
No other Favorite Day products or bakery items are impacted by this recall.
If you have this product, and have a pecan or tree nut allergy or sensitivity, you should not consume the cheesecake as it can cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions. Instead, you should throw the recalled cheesecake away or return it to Target for a full refund.
However, if you do not have a pecan or tree nut allergy or sensitivity, you technically don't have to do anything about the recall. The Favorite Day cheesecake was only recalled for a package labeling error, not because the dessert is inherently unsafe. So, if you don't have tree nut allergies or sensitivities, the cheesecake is safe for you to consume.
If you have any health-related questions, you should contact your healthcare provider. For questions regarding the recall, or to request a refund, you can contact Target Guest Relations at (800) 444-0680 or Dessert Holdings at (720) 766-9060 or marketing@dessertholdings.com.

32,000 pounds of meat products recalled due to false USDA inspection marks

A New Jersey-based company, Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC, is recalling about 32,000 pounds of various meat products with a false USDA mark of inspection, meaning the meats didn't go through proper federal examination, according to federal officials. In an alert shared Thursday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said the recalled products are falsely labeled with establishment number "EST. 1785," which "does not exist," they said. The items, which include chorizo (sausage), pork chops and ribs, were shipped to retail locations and restaurants nationwide and were produced with various dates before Aug. 20, 2025. The recall includes the following: Homestyle chorizo labeled "OLANCHO Chorizo Suelto Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS" (14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages)Smoked pork chops labeled "OLANCHO Chuleta Ahumada Olanchana SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS" (14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages)Smoked chorizo labeled "OLANCHO Chorizo Ahumado Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS" (14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages)Cased homestyle chorizo labeled "OLANCHO Chorizo Olanchano Criollo SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS" (14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages)Smoked BBQ spicy chorizo labeled "OLANCHO Chorizo Parrillero SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS" (14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages)Smoked ribs labeled "OLANCHO Costilla Ahumada Olanchana SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS" (14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages) As more information becomes available, FSIS said it may add more items to the recalled product list, so consumers should keep an eye on the website for updates. So far, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to these products, but the USDA says they should be considered "misbranded and unsafe to eat." Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider, the agency added. Consumers can contact Diego Funez Garrido, owner of Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC at 908-274-4206 for any questions regarding the recall, the alert added. The sunscreen that wants to take you back to the 1980s

If you've browsed a Sephora or a Target or any pharmacy shelf anywhere in the past two decades, chances are you already know: There's an arms race going on in the sunscreen industry. The battle to build the sunscreen of the future has been ongoing since the late 20th century, when somebody somewhere asked, 'Hey, what if it didn't have to be a gloppy white paste like the Coppertone your parents slathered on you as a kid? What if it wasn't heavily fragranced of coconut oil or sickly-sweet imitation banana?'

Target cookies recalled due to possible contamination with wood pieces, impacting multiple states

So far, no illnesses have been reported. Frosted sugar cookies sold at Target stores across the United States have been recalled because they may contain pieces of wood. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for 803 cases of Favorite Day Bakery frosted sugar cookies sold at Target stores in 20 states and Washington, D.C. Favorite Day is a private label brand sold at Target. The voluntary recall was initiated on July 22, 2025, by Give and Go Prepared Foods Corp in Etobicoke, Canada, which prepared the affected bakery items. Target said it has removed all of the impacted cookies from its store shelves and online, according to a statement sent to NBC Chicago. As of Aug. 14, Target does not have the recall listed on its website. How can I identify which specific cookies are recalled? The affected Favorite Day Bakery frosted sugar cookies are the 10-count packages (Net wt. 13.5 oz.) with lot number 25195 and UPC code 85239-41250 3. 'Best By Date can vary as they are applied by retailer when removed from freezer,' the FDA indicates in the recall. Has anyone gotten sick from the cookies? No illnesses have been reported yet. However, the FDA classified the recall as Class II, which means eating the contaminated cookies 'may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.' Where are the Target stores that sold the affected cookies? The FDA says the affected cookies were distributed to Target stores in the following states and D.C.: Connecticut Delaware Illinois Indiana Kentucky Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Missouri New Hampshire New Jersey New York North Carolina Ohio Pennsylvania Rhode Island Tennessee Vermont Virginia Washington, D.C. I bought the cookies that were recalled. What should I do? Customers who purchased the affected frosted sugar cookies can get a full refund by bringing them to their nearest Target store or by calling Target guest relations at 1-800-440-0680.
