The Ghana international has been charged with five counts of rape and one of sexual assault relating to alleged offences that took place between 2021 and 2022. Partey was first arrested in 2022 but was not named at the time and continued to represent Arsenal.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
His contract at Emirates Stadium came to an end on June 30, as he was released as a free agent, and he was charged four days later. Arsenal said at the time: "The player's contract ended on June 30. Due to ongoing legal proceedings the club is unable to comment on the case."
WHAT ARTETA SAID
Quizzed on the matter during Arsenal's pre-season tour of Asia, with the Premier League outfit currently in Singapore, Arteta said: "The club was very clear in its statement. There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated so I cannot comment on any of that."
Pressed on whether he was confident that the club had followed all of the correct processes relating to Partey, the Spaniard added: "100 per cent."
WHAT NEXT FOR PARTEY?
Partey is due to appear at London's Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 5. The 32-year-old has always maintained his innocence and denies all of the allegations made against him.

Arsenal vs Newcastle: Friendly prediction, kick-off time, team news, TV, live stream, h2h, odds
Arsenal take on Newcastle in the second game of their pre-season tour of Asia. The Gunners face the Magpies at the National Stadium in Singapore, where many of their recent recruits will get another run-out as they look to gel with their new team-mates. Mikel Arteta has gone big in the transfer window this summer, bringing in the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard to bolster his engine room, while Noni Madueke adds flair and versatility in the wide areas. Kepa Arrizabalaga will rival compatriot David Raya in the goalkeeping department, and Cristhian Mosquera adds important depth across the backline. Viktor Gyokeres is expected to become an Arsenal player this weekend, but this game will come too soon for the Swede, who is set to finalise his initial £63.5million move from Sporting Lisbon. Date, kick-off time and venue Arsenal vs Newcastle is scheduled for a 12.30pm BST kick-off on Sunday, July 27, 2025. The game will be played at the National Stadium in Singapore. Where to watch Arsenal vs Newcastle TV channel: In the UK, the game will not be televised. Live stream: Viewers can stream the game live on Live blog: You can follow all the action on matchday via Standard Sport's live blog! Arsenal vs Newcastle team news From an Arsenal perspective, there are three major absentees. Brazilian pair Gabriel and Gabriel Jesus are both ruled out, with Arteta saying that he needed to 'manage' the former and 'minimise risk'. Jurrien Timber is another that is sidelined with an ankle injury, and he will not be able to face Newcastle. Madueke, the new £52m signing from Chelsea, will not be involved due to his involvement at the Club World Cup with the Blues, who won the revamped tournament in the United States. Mosquera, the most recent arrival from Valencia, could make his bow in an Arsenal shirt having joined up with the squad in Singapore. As for Newcastle, there is one huge miss: Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker reportedly wants to leave the north-east amid interest from Liverpool, but he has also remained on Tyneside as he continues to nurse a thigh injury. Lewis Hall is their other injury concern, with the left-back sidelined thanks to an ankle issue. Arsenal vs Newcastle prediction Arsenal are fortunate to have almost a full complement available to them, and their new signings - brought in early in the window - have ample time to gel and really bolster their numbers and depth. As for Newcastle, they are looking relatively bare bones, with manager Eddie Howe admitting that his side have to get stuck into the transfer market. That is particularly the case if Isak departs, with Newcastle wanting a top striker to potentially replace him. Without Isak, they sometimes lack that bite in attack, although Anthony Gordon can be expected to deputise through the middle, which could mean Harvey Barnes comes in on the left, and new boy Anthony Elanga goes straight in off the right. That said, Arsenal should have too much for Newcastle at this moment in time. Arsenal to win, 3-1 Head to head (h2h) history and results These two sides played each other four times last term, with Newcastle winning three of those encounters. Two of those were semi-final legs of the League Cup, which the Magpies lifted at Wembley when they beat Liverpool. Hugo Ekitike's record as a left-winger is PHENOMENAL
Hugo Ekitike won't just be a forward for Liverpool, he can also play on the left-wing. With the club's continued pursuit for Alexander Isak, there have been a few question marks over the Frenchman's arrival. LFC Kits Shop Now LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Ekitike is predominantly a no.9. So, the question must be raised, how could Isak and Ekitike play together? And why go for Isak, when you already have Ekitike? These are valid questions. Although, assessing Liverpool's attacking options, and the number of them who could leave, will give you an answer as to why Isak and Ekitike are both needed. As for whether they can play together, the answer is simple: yes. Neither of them are typical old-fashioned no.9s. They are dynamic players, who are fluid in their style of play. Isak, at the moment is more of a poacher (for now) but Ekitike can also thrive inside the box. What he excels at is high linking-up play, creativity and his ability to take on defenders one vs one. Not to mention, he's a workhorse, who will continue to press his opponents. All of these traits, make him into an unpredictable and formidable no.9. However, they can also make him into a left-winger. Ekitike spoke about his style of play in his first official interview for the club, describing the following: "I can't define myself only as a striker [who likes] to finish: I like to play, I like to be in the game, in the collective part of play [and] create also. So, I can do both - I can play alone and I like to play also with another striker," he said. So how could this work? In theory, Ekitike could play in behind Isak. But then where would Florian Wirtz play? Another option is for the Frenchman to drift out-wide onto the left flank. Where he has played before. Most notably, in his first season as a professional back at Vejle Boldklub in Denmark, Ekitike was often used as a left-winger. In the games that he played as a left-winger, Ekitike made two assists in four games, and he also averaged 4.6 dribblers per 90 minutes completing 77.8% of his attempts. Those are remarkable numbers, although it's a small sample size. Nonetheless, his managers at the time were certainly blown away. Speaking of Ekitike to Anfield Watch former Vejle assistant manager Dumitru Uzunea likened the Frenchman to Johan Cruyff after his performances: "After he played three or five games, if you look at him in training, his legs, his body I think you can compare him with the ex big player of Netherlands, Johan Cruyff." Those are big comparisons and we are in no way insinuating that Ekitike should become as good as one of the most legendary figures in football. However, the fact that a football professional has made those links would at least suggest that he could be suited to play on the wing. Another big factor behind this could be that he had played as a left-winger at Reims, Paris Saint Germain and even in one game against RB Leipzig at Frankfurt in his career so far. In those games, he's averaged 0.65 goal contributions, which is very good considering most of his minutes were for Reims and Vejle as a left-winger and both of those teams were fighting for relegation.

Southampton midfielder Primus signs new deal
Southampton midfielder Atlanta Primus has signed a new one-year contract with the club ahead of the 2025/2026 season. The Saints announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today. The 28-year-old midfielder joined Southampton in summer 2023 after opting to leave former club London City Lionesses at the end of her contract. The Saints acquired her services after she starred for the Jamaican national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023. Primus was very much the standout performer for The Reggae Girlz as they battled bravely at the tournament. Primus made 19 appearances in all competitions for Southampton in her first season at St Mary's Stadium. She then joined The Saints' Barclays WSL2 rivals Charlton Athletic on loan for the whole of last season. Some may have wondered whether Primus' time as a Saint was over, however, the player has agreed to sign a new one-year contract and begin the new era under recently-appointed head coach Simon Parker. After signing on again at St Mary's Stadium, Primus said 'I'm really happy to have re-signed, it's an exciting time ahead and I'm really looking forward to the new season.' Further Southampton squad news will be announced in due course.
