A little more than a month from now, Short n' Sweet will celebrate its one-year anniversary. The project, Sabrina Carpenter's sixth full-length, was the one that finally catapulted her to global superstardom. It produced many of her most recognizable hits and became one of the most commercially successful albums of the past year all around the world.
As Carpenter prepares her follow-up album Man's Best Friend, Short n' Sweet is still performing exceptionally well, including in the United Kingdom, where it can often be found inside the top 10 on multiple tallies. This week, the project surges on several rankings, reappearing on multiple lists, and even conquering one.
Short n' Sweet Returns at No. 1
Short n' Sweet returns to the Official Vinyl Albums chart after missing from the ranking of the bestselling vinyl titles in the country just days ago. Carpenter doesn't just return to the roster — she dominates it. The set hits No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums ranking for the first time, 41 weeks into its tenure.
Sabrina Carpenter Scores Her First No. 1
Carpenter earns her first No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart as Short n' Sweet rebounds. The singer-songwriter has now sent three titles to the format-specific ranking, and before this week, she had peaked in the runner-up position twice.
Short n' Sweet was joined by her holiday project Fruitcake, which reached No. 2 for a single frame last December. Her previous full-length, Emails I Can't Send, only climbed as high as No. 19.
Short n' Sweet Launched in the Runner-Up Spot
When Short n' Sweet first dropped in the fall of 2024, it debuted at No. 2 on the Official Vinyl Albums ranking. The hits-packed effort returned to that lofty position several times throughout its run but never managed to rule — until now. Of the 41 frames it has appeared on the vinyl list, the album has lived inside the top 10 for 18 of them.
Short n' Sweet Reappears on Multiple Charts
The album also returns to two other U.K.-based rankings this week. In addition to scoring space on the Official Vinyl Albums chart again, Short n' Sweet is back on the Official Album Downloads ranking, landing at No. 57 after previously peaking at No. 3.
Short n' Sweet also returns to the runner-up position on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts. Carpenter's effort holds inside the top five on the main list of the most-consumed releases in the country (No. 3), as well as on the Official Albums Streaming tally (No. 4).

Mariachi individualized degree program is now being offered at Metropolitan State University of Denver

Metropolitan State University of Denver has built a reputation as a school with unique programs. Now there's something new for people with an interest in music and culture: an individualized degree program in mariachi performance and culture. Ashley Irvine has been playing the violin since she was a kid. She mostly played classical music. That is, until a couple years ago when she started school at MSU Denver. "I saw that there was a group on campus, so I wanted to find out more," said Irvine. It's the same story with Samuel Leon and Brayan Alpizar. All three are music majors who joined the mariachi club on campus. They say it's partly to honor their heritage and partly to learn mariachi, which is more than a musical style -- it's a culture of its own. "It's just the, it's the emotion that we get to portray. It has the music style, and Mexicanos as a whole were very emotional people. And being able to portray that musically, I think it's beautiful," said Leon. The club was started by students in 2012 and has been playing every year since because it is so popular. That's why he university decided it was time to put together a degree program. Philip Ficsor, assistant professor of music at MSU Denver, says this program won't be just about playing mariachi music. "How it's unique is how it contextualizes what we do in mariachi, the music," said Ficsor. "They're also required to have Spanish language proficiency. So, two semesters at least of Spanish. And then there's some business courses. So, when you get out and you're like 'Okay, how do I run a mariachi?' How do I do the taxes and all that stuff that's going to be available to you?" Which is perfect for Samuel, who is one of the program's first enrollees who one day wants to play professionally in California or Texas. He and his peers, who haven't quite made the jump from classical music studies to mariachi performance and culture yet, say no matter what their future holds, learning mariachi at MSU has helped them grow as people and as musicians. "I've played with a lot of very, very amazing classical musicians, professionals. And I go to I go to school for that, for classical. But with mariachi, I realize they're just the most incredible musicians I've ever met in my life," said Irvine.

Legendary Artist Performed at Live Aid in Two Different Cities and Got ‘Caught in a Toxic, Dysfunctional Web of Led Zeppelin'

Legendary Artist Performed at Live Aid in Two Different Cities and Got 'Caught in a Toxic, Dysfunctional Web of Led Zeppelin' originally appeared on Parade. Perhaps no look back at Live Aid on its 40th anniversary is complete without focusing on the herculean task of on July 13, 1985. The Genesis singer-drummer and solo artist was the only artist to play the historic fund-raising concert in both London and Philadelphia. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Amazingly, Collins first performed and played drums for and in London at Wembley Stadium and then he traveled by helicopter to Heathrow Airport from where he flew on the Concorde to New York City and then jumped on another helicopter to Philadelphia. Once in Philly, he performed a solo set and played drums with and the reunited Led Zeppelin. With Sting in London, the Police singer started his set with two Police songs, 'Roxanne' and 'Driven to Tears' before Collins joined to perform his hit 'Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now,' the Police's 'Message in a Bottle,' Collins' 'In the Air Tonight' and 'Long Long Way to Go,' and the Police's 'Every Breath You Take.' At JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, Collins did his own two-song solo set consisting of 'Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)' and 'In the Air Tonight,' then backed Clapton on the Cream song 'White Room,' Clapton's 'She's Waiting' and Derek and the Dominos' 'Layla.' But he wasn't done. He also backed Led Zeppelin's , and on a three-song set featuring 'Rock and Roll,' 'Whole Lotta Love' and 'Stairway to Heaven.' Drummer was also on hand because apparently it took two drummers to fill the shoes of the late . 'It's just great to be part of something like this,' Collins told reporters backstage at the Wembley show, per Music Radar. Later, he was interviewed in the Concorde's cockpit while in transit, Collins said, 'Basically the reason I'm doing this is because it can be done. It's good fun isn't it?' However, Collins would later have second thoughts. Initially, Plant, Page and Collins were possibly going to perform, but it eventually turned into a full-scale Led Zeppelin reunion. ''You, me and Jimmy maybe doing something together' had become the second coming of history's greatest rock band. This is a development for which I am blissfully ignorant. Robert hasn't called, so I don't know that John Paul Jones is coming too. All of a sudden, it's Led Zeppelin,' Collins said. He went on to further detail the experience in his 2016 autobiography, Not Dead Yet. 'I didn't come here to play with Led Zeppelin, I came here to play with a friend of mine who has morphed back into being the singer of Led Zeppelin -- a very different animal to the one that invited me,' Collins wrote. 'Now I'm caught up in the ceaselessly toxic, dysfunctional web of Led Zeppelin interpersonal relationships' Collins admitted he knew things weren't going well during the short set. 'I know the wheels are falling off from early on in the set," Collins wrote in his book. 'I can't hear Robert clearly from where I'm sat, but I can hear enough to know that he's not on top of his game. Ditto Jimmy." Despite the honor of playing the gig and making history that day, Collins admitted it ended on a sour note. 'If I could have left that stage, I would have left, half-way through 'Stairway,' if not earlier,' he wrote.
