Man dies after collision in Vaughan on Saturday, police say
A 44-year-old man has died after a collision in Vaughan on Saturday night, York Regional Police said.
Officers responded to the crash near Weston and Rutherford roads around 10:20 p.m., police told CBC Toronto.
A car hit a tree and then hit a wall, police said. They did not provide details on what caused the collision.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 40, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to contact police.
Weston Road is closed southbound from Astonia to Valeria boulevards, police said.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a lorry and pedestrian at the junction of Aldridge Road and Holford Drive at 7.25am. "One ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian. He was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital." West Midlands Roads posted on X: "Due to congestion, the police have closed the right turn from the A34 onto Aldridge Road. "Traffic has to stay on A34 out of city. Avoid the area."
