Takeaways and observations from Day 2 of Eagles training camp practices
With the second session now complete, we're looking at takeaways and observations from Day 2 of Philadelphia Eagles training camp at the NovaCare Complex.
Jalen Hurts was extremely sharp
Hurts was 17-19 passing on the day, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks, and it continues the trend of the Eagles' star quarterback developing into an elite and efficient thrower of the football.
Competition at cornerback continues
The Eagles usually hold starters out of preseason games. Still, with just one joint practice schedule, Philadelphia could utilize those contests to pick a winner at the cornerback spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell. For the second straight day, Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson are getting first-team reps with Cooper DeJean mixing in.
Eagles paid tribute to the Late Ozzy Osbourne.
Tributes are pouring in from music legends and celebrities after the death of Ozzy Osbourne, the rock and heavy metal icon, at the age of 76. The Eagles did their part, playing Osbourne's music during the Second Day of training camp practice.
Eagles injury report
Jalen Carter and Kenyon Green missed their second straight practice to open up training camp. For Carter, it's about being healthy for the season opener. Green is battling for a roster spot and can't afford to get left behind.
Quinyon Mitchell prepared to travel?
We previously highlighted Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell potentially beginning to travel with the opposing team's best wide receiver after stating he's been getting his feet wet at both outside cornerback positions. That transformation has already started through the first two days of practice, with Mitchell getting snaps at both outside cornerback spots.

Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase reportedly placed on paid leave in connection with sports-gambling investigation
One of the biggest chips on the MLB trade market is being placed on paid leave just days before the deadline. All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase was reportedly placed on non-disciplinary paid leave in connection with an MLB sports-betting investigation, per ESPN's Jeff Passan. Clase is the second Guardians pitcher to be placed on paid leave while MLB looks into the situation. Starter Luis Ortiz was also put on paid leave in early July after suspicious bets were reportedly placed based on his performance. The Guardians have not lived up to expectations this season. After winning the American League Central with a 92-69 record last season, the team sits at 52-53 entering play Monday. Clase — one of the game's best closers — has still pitched well this season, posting a 3.23 ERA and 24 saves over 47 1/3 innings. This story will be updated.

Official: Real Madrid registers one of its academy players with the first team.
Real Madrid recruits players from its academy. Getty Images After Real Madrid struggled last season due to a defensive shortage caused by injuries and player absences, and coach Carlo Ancelotti's use of some distinguished names from the reserve team, it appears that some players have decided to continue their careers with the first team and avoid having to return to the reserve team. One of the names that will clearly have an important role next season is young defender Raul Asensio, who has given his all to serve Real Madrid during this difficult period that the team has recently been going through. Raul Asencio signs for the first team Although the player was a regular first-team player for much of last season, he was still registered with the reserve team under number 35 and had not been registered with the first team. Today, however, things have changed. The player was officially registered with the first team on Monday, making it a truly special moment for him and his family to represent his dream team and the first team as well. Despite his recent struggles, Marco Asensio retains a first-team position as per his recent contract renewal terms. His squad number remains undecided. While likely to stay, Madrid may consider selling the Spanish winger following his form dip. The decision could hinge on Militao, Rudiger, and Alaba's performances, with only Huijsen currently being a guaranteed starter. Last season saw Asensio make 23 league appearances, contributing to six clean sheets while averaging nearly nine defensive actions per match.
