Rams lifting contest: Aaron Donald vs. Jared Verse?

During his rookie season, Rams edge rusher Jared Verse established himself as one of the NFL's most boisterous players — and also a force to be reckoned with ala former Rams star Aaron Donald.
So it should be no surprise that Verse, the NFL defensive rookie of the year, unabashedly if not kiddingly sounded Wednesday as if he was challenging Donald, a future Hall of Famer and legendary training maven, to a workout duel.

During an appearance on the 'Adam Schefter Podcast,' Verse was asked if he could work out with Donald during the offseason.
'No, he don't want that,' Verse said. 'He's not ready for that.'
Verse did not stop.
'That little 500 bench he had. He's not ready for that,' Verse said. 'Hey, I'll be moving weight. I'll be moving weight.'

So Donald can't keep up with you right now? Schefter asked.
'Hey, whenever he's ready for a workout,' Verse said. 'Man, I'll be seeing his little Instagram posts, the benches, the dumbbell benches. Hey, he can get me whenever he's ready.'

Donald playfully responded in a video on social media.
'Somebody put the word out,' Donald said. 'I'm looking for you, Verse. I'm looking for you. Come to the house. I just want to talk. I just want to talk, that's it.
'Nothing much, big dog. That's it. Just a little conversation. Put in a little weights. Do a little cardio. You know, the old-man retirement workout. Let's put you through it. See what you can do. I just want to talk. Come on, I just want to talk.'

Associated Press CHICAGO (AP) — Kyle Teel has a new collared shirt and his own big league opportunity. Teel, one of the majors' top prospects, was brought up by the Chicago White Sox on Friday. The 23-year-old catcher was in the starting lineup for the opener of a weekend series against Kansas City, batting sixth. Teel was the No. 14 pick in the 2023 amateur draft out of the University of Virginia. His arrival marks a positive moment for a last-place White Sox team in the middle of a painful rebuilding process. Chicago also optioned catcher Korey Lee to Charlotte and designated right-hander Ryan Cusick for assignment. The 26-year-old Lee was sidelined by a sprained left ankle before he was activated by the White Sox on May 27. Duke agrees to home-and-home with HBCU power
NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State Director of Athletics Dr. Melody Webb and head women's basketball coach Jermaine Woods have reached an agreement for a home-and-home series with nationally ranked Duke, bringing a major HBCU matchup to life over the next two seasons. The Spartans will travel to Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium on Nov. 12, 2025. The following season, the Blue Devils will make their first-ever visit to Echols Hall. Tipoff times for both games will be announced later. 'This is a landmark moment for our women's basketball program and our university,' Webb said. 'Hosting a nationally ranked team like Duke highlights our commitment to raising the profile of Norfolk State Athletics. It also provides our student-athletes and fans with a chance to experience top-tier competition on our campus.' The two programs have met only once before. In 2002, Duke defeated Norfolk State 95-48 in the NCAA Tournament's first round, shortly after NSU won its first MEAC Tournament Championship. The 2026 visit by Duke will be the first time an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent plays at Norfolk State, marking a historic milestone for the HBCU. The Blue Devils finished last season 29-8 and reached the Elite Eight, ending the year ranked No. 7 nationally. 'I appreciate Coach Kara Lawson's willingness to set up this series,' Woods said. 'Collaborations like this help HBCUs gain national visibility. Her return to Norfolk will benefit our program, university, and the community.'
