'Kaizer Chiefs bigger than Bafana' says Italian brand boss
Amakhosi, he said, are not only the biggest club in Africa, but are even bigger than the South African national team, Bafana Bafana.
The boss of Italy's legendary sports brand, Kappa, made the statement during the launch of the latest club jersey for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
According to the Kappa SA leader, the Amakhosi fanbase deserves admiration for its loyalty and sheer scale.
Josephs believes the Soweto giants' influence reaches beyond football and into the very fabric of South African identity.
Surprisingly, the comments arrived soon after Bafana Bafana renewed public support following their semi-final finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. However, Joseph believes Kaizer Chiefs' cultural and commercial reach exceeds even that of the national side.
Kaizer Chiefs, despite recent struggles on the field, continue to dominate when it comes to brand power, shirt sales, and fan engagement. With millions of supporters across the country and beyond, Joseph insists the club's influence is simply unmatched.

Kaizer Chiefs squad valuation: Most valuable Amkhosi players wouldn't crack Mamelodi Sundowns top-15
File. Kaizer Chiefs' current squad valuation reveals that their top players, including Reeve Frosler, Spiwe Msimango, and Siphesihle Ndlovu, are valued at R18.59 million each, significantly lower than Mamelodi Sundowns' top-15, as the club aims to bolster its roster with more top talent. Picture: Itumeleng English/Independent Media With Kaizer Chiefs promising to sign more top players in the coming months, it's surprising to see which players in the current squad have the highest value. According to the highest value players in the squad are defenders Reeve Frosler, Spiwe Msimango and midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu. Each player is valued at approximately R18.59 million. For comparison, that trio wouldn't crack the top-15 most valuable players in the current Mamelodi Sundowns squad. The most valuable player in the Sundowns squad is Lucas Ribeiro at R51.54 million. In fact, the total squad value of Chiefs is around R303 million. That's less than half of that of Sundowns' whose squad worth stands at a whopping R744 million.

Kaizer Chiefs news: New season, doubts grow, deal delayed
As the new season edges closer, uncertainty is growing around Kaizer Chiefs' transfer dealings and overall squad readiness. After a trophy-winning campaign that ended a decade-long drought, expectations are (as always) high for Amakhosi, but recent developments have left fans and insiders uneasy. One of the club's most talked-about potential signings, Etiosa Ighodaro, has yet to be finalised, with the deal reportedly delayed due to last-minute negotiations and administrative holdups. While Chiefs remain interested, sources close to the matter say there is no confirmed contract on the table. 'The talks are still ongoing,' a club insider revealed. 'There is optimism, but no guarantee yet. It's taking longer than expected, and that's causing some frustration.' Despite lifting the Nedbank Cup recently, Kaizer Chiefs' cohesion and tactical sharpness remain a work in progress, sparking questions about whether the team is ready to challenge for major honours again. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has been vocal about his ambitions but also about the challenges facing the club. 'We need the right players to strengthen the squad. Without that, it will be difficult to sustain success,' Nabi stated after winning the Nedbank Cup. 'My focus is on preparing the team, but the management must deliver on promises made regarding reinforcements.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
