Three players in Grade A as BCCI announce Women's central contracts for 2024-25
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the retainership for the Indian Women's team for the 2024-25 season, covering the period from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.
All-format skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, alongside star batter Smriti Mandhana and stylish all-rounder Deepti Sharma have been slotted in Grade A, thanks to their consistent performances over the years.

Renuka Singh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh and Shafali Verma have all been retained in Grade B, while Yastika Bhatia, Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar join them in Grade C in the central contracts list from the 2022/23 season.
Rajeshwari Gayakwad from Grade B, alongside Meghna Singh, Devika Vaidya, Sabbineni Meghana, Anjali Sarvani and Harleen Deol who were in Grade C missed out.
Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu, Arundathi Reddy, Amanjot Kaur and Uma Chetry are the fresh new faces who made the cut in the retainership.

India will next take on Sri Lanka and South Africa in an ODI tri-nation series in Sri Lanka, set to start on 27 April.

Bengaluru stampede: BCCI had nothing to do with victory parade, says secretary
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia has expressed his condolences over the loss of lives during a stampede near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team felicitation event at the venue following their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title win. "BCCI feels sad and prays for the families of the deceased and our condolences are with them. What happened in Bengaluru is unfortunate; every life is precious. This is an RCB event. BCCI was not related with it in any manner as we are only accountable till the closing ceremony. We conducted it so well, handling more than one lakh people at the Narendra Modi Stadium," he told ANI. He also added that while the victory parade of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team was held last year, "none of such news came as we planned all things and were in talks with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and with the authorities". "Proper security was arranged at that time," he said. Pakistan to play in Colombo when India hosts Women's World Cup
Pakistan will play all their women's 50-over World Cup matches in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo when India hosts this year's tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Monday. Politically-estranged India and Pakistan, who have not played a bilateral series since 2013, will play their matches in neutral venues when either country hosts an ICC event, the sport's global governing body announced in December. "The venues for the knockouts are dependent on Pakistan qualifying as two alternative venues have been identified for one semifinal and the final," the ICC said. "Colombo will be the venue for the first semifinal and the final only if Pakistan qualify for those stages." Bengaluru, where the tournament will start with India playing in the opening match, will host the final on November 2 if Pakistan are knocked out earlier in the tournament, the ICC added. Bengaluru will also stage the second semifinal on October 30, a day after the first semifinal in Colombo or Guwahati. Visakhapatnam and Indore are the two other host cities for the eight-team tournament. India played all their matches in Dubai when Pakistan hosted the men's Champions Trophy this year, including the final which they won. Both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League were suspended last month amid clashes between the two countries following an attack targeting tourists that killed 26 people in Kashmir in April. Matches resumed after a ceasefire was announced. The neutral venue arrangement between the countries will also be in place for the men's T20 World Cup in 2026, which India will co-host with Sri Lanka, and the women's T20 World Cup in 2028 in Pakistan.

Five venues including one in Sri Lanka announced for ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 being hosted by India from 30 September to 2 November Dates and venues of opening matches and knockouts of both the Women's World Cup and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 to be hosted by England confirmed The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made key announcements regarding the venues and dates for its two upcoming global women's events, which will be hosted by India and England within a span of some nine months this year and next. The dates and venues for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 have been confirmed, along with the schedule for the opening matches and knockout rounds of both the Women's Cricket World Cup and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. ICC Chairman Mr. Jay Shah said: "We are excited to make some important announcements regarding two global women's tournaments to be hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the England and Wales Cricket Board in the coming months. 'Fans have shown great support for the women's game in recent years, and I am sure they will start planning for these showpiece events now that they have key dates and venues. 'Women's cricket stands at the forefront of our vision, and we are confident that these two upcoming tournaments will not only sustain the incredible momentum we've built in recent years but lift it to greater heights.' The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, featuring eight teams in a round-robin format with 28 league matches, will be played from 30 September to 2 November at five venues: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam) and R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka). The tournament kicks off with India playing in Bengaluru as the Women's Cricket World Cup returns to the country after 12 years. The last ICC global women's event hosted by India was the ICC Women's T20 World in 2016 when it was held along with the men's event. The venues for the knockouts are dependent on Pakistan qualifying as two alternative venues have been identified for one semifinal and the final. The final will be held either in Bengaluru or Colombo on 2 November, the first semifinal in either Guwahati or Colombo on 29 October and the second semifinal in Bengaluru on 30 October. Colombo will be the venue for the first semifinal and the final only if Pakistan qualify for those stages. Meanwhile, Edgbaston in Birmingham has been announced as the host for the opening match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 with England women kicking off the tournament on 12 June. Fans can register their interest now to be the first to get their hands on tickets when an exclusive pre-sale window opens on 12 June 2025. Tickets for the opening game will start at £15 for adults and £5 for juniors Beyond Birmingham, the tournament will continue its nationwide journey, before heading to London where The Oval is set to host both semi-final clashes, while the final will take place at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground on 5 July 2026. Both semi-finals will light up London at The Oval on 30 June and 2 July 2026, with tickets from £20 for adults and £10 for juniors, while final tickets start at £30 and £15. Over the course of 24 days, a total of 33 matches will be played across seven top-tier venues, including Old Trafford Cricket Ground (Manchester), Headingley (Leeds), The Hampshire Bowl (Southampton), and Bristol County Ground. The expanded competition will see 12 teams descend on England and Wales to compete for the prestigious trophy that is currently held by New Zealand. Eight countries are already sure of their place, with the final four participants to be decided through a Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier next year. Exclusive presale tickets for the opening match, the semi-finals and the final will be available to purchase on 12 June 2025, with fans encouraged to register their interest now to be first in line to buy.
